I bought the jx 35 on april 17, 2012 looking to downsize and because of the safety features. about a month into owning the car, as i was driving the iba (intellect brake assist) suddenly stopped my car to a complete stop on a bridge. there were no cars in front of me, and luckily the car behind me wasn't driving too close to me or i would have been hit. my seatbelt tightened as well. my 2 year old daughter was with me. i immediately drove it over to the dealership and they turned the iba off. 2 weeks later i was driving with my mom and daughter and it happened again on the same bridge!!! we were stunned as the car stopped and our seatbelts tightened. again, no accident, as no one was driving too close behind me. once again i drove right to the dealership where they kept my car. it was there for 28 days while technicians from bosch and infiniti came to test my car over several trips back and forth testing new software. it did happen to the technicians with my car as well on he same road along with another jx from the lot with iba. nissan infiniti corporation did nothing to help me get out of this car, their consumer affairs dept is horrible. my dealership did help, and got me out of the car with my full money back. even with my money back, i am unsettled knowing this can happen to someone else. *tr

I leased my jx in june 2012. this is the vehicle's 1st model yr (released in april 2012). i leased it because i have two young children, i am 24 weeks pregnant, and the jx boasts many many safety features. one of these safety features is the intellect brake assist(iba). if the vehicle senses you are about to have a front end crash, it will automatically bring the vehicle to an immediate stop. after purchasing the vehicle, i read online that there is a glitch with the iba - that it was engaging the brakes even when no accident was eminent. i drove straight to the dealer asking to disconnect/turn off the options that allow the vehicle to stop automatically when in forward motion. they said that what i read online was an isolated incident (ironically in the area in which i reside) and that i shouldn't have any problems. i explained that i wanted it turned off anyway - i didn't feel safe knowing that it could happen to me. when the vehicle stops, it jerks the seatbelt tight, and i don't want that risk to my unborn child unless an accident is actually about to occur. they took the car in and when it emerged they assured me that all of the frontal brake assistance was turned off. 12 days later i was driving w/my 7 yr old, and when i drove over a bridge, the vehicle came to a dead stop, and all of our seatbelts locked up. fortunately, the driver in the vehicle behind me was able to stop in enough time that he didn't hit me. i called the dealer where i leased the vehicle, and the service department explained to me that it is a known problem, and infiniti is working on a fix. i have learned that this problem has been known since may 2012 which is prior to my purchase. i am also told that this particular bridge is the only culprit in the entire country because it has too much metal. i will not drive this vehicle and jeopardize the lives of my family and others. *tr
