Dt: the contact states there was a problem with the headlights. the beam from the lights will show the road for no more than ten to fifteen feet in front of the vehicle. this is because of the computer leveling system positioning the light beam closer to the vehicle than necessary. he feels that under normal driving conditions braking distances would exceed the amount of lighted area. when he contacted the manufacturer, they said that the lights were designed to do this. *ak updated 11/29/2005 - *nm updated 01/11/06. *jb

There is a horizontal band of blackness between the area illuminated by the low beam headlights and the highbeam headlights. this creates a blind spot and a serious potential hazard when driving at night. the high beam head lights appear to be aimed very high; they illuminate the mid and upper sections of trees very well but not the road in front of the vehicle. i returned the car to the dealer who indicated the headlights were properly aimed. furthermore the dealer indicated that the high beams cannot be aimed independent of the low beams. i was referred to infiniti's regional representative. this individual confirmed that there is no separate adjustment for high and low beams. he also indicated his belief that the dealer had properly evaluated my problem. (how he would know this escapes me) as a result i continue to have a vehicle with this hazardous defect putting my safety and that of others in jeopardy. *nm
