| Defect Summary | Nissan is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, washington d.c., west virginia and wisconsin. the material in the nut used to secure the sensor-transmitter of the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) may corrode and potentially crack in areas with heavy concentrations of road salt. if this occurs, the nut may come out of the sensor-transmitter and the tpms lamp will illuminate. | |||||||||||||||
| Consequence Summary | If the tpms lamp is disregarded and the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the tire will quickly lose air pressure at a consistent rate resulting in a flat tire increasing the risk of a crash. | |||||||||||||||

| While driving east (uphill) on i-90 from seattle toward snoqualmie pass, my car suddenly and unexpectedly veered into the adjacent lane, literally tearing/turning the steering wheel out of my hands. i pulled off the freeway to let my heart rate slow down. on my return trip, downhill, the same terrifying experience occurred, narrowly avoiding a collision with a truck. a bit of internet research revealed that this experience is called tramlining and that many infiniti models/years have been reported to suffer from it. i reported my experiences to my local infiniti dealer's service manager, but he acted baffled by the term tramlining and told me, after all, you own a 45s, a sport model. he charged me a bundle to put new tires on my car, but the tramlining problem hasn't gone away -- only my money. *tr | |||
