Defect Summary | Interstate trailers is recalling one model year 2012 30dle trailer equipped with an electric/hydraulic (e/h) brake actuator pump. this pump may not have been properly heat treated. this condition can cause premature wear of some critical components in this pump which can render the unit inoperable. | |||||||||||||||
Consequence Summary | The e/h brake actuator provides braking power to the trailer brakes. failure of the actuator can result in the loss of braking effort by the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash. | |||||||||||||||

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 interstate trailer 1 7x16 v-front. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the brakes, he noticed that the brakes on the second axle did not engage. he inspected the vehicle and noticed that the brakes were cool to the touch. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. after diagnosis, they advised him that there was a disconnected wire and re-fitted it. the vehicle was repaired by reconnecting and fitting the loose wire. approximately two weeks after the repair, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 5. the current mileage was approximately 200. | |||
