I purchased my 2001 isuzu rodeo used in april 2012, about a week after i had the vehicle it started stalling out while i was driving, loosing complete power for a few moments then would jerk and continue going. i also noticed when i would hit a small bump and try to apply the brakes i heard a grinding noise and it would not stop for a few feet, even with the brake all the way to the floor. also when i stop i hear a popping noise in the rear, everytime i stop. now the vehicle is completely dying at random times. it will die when i am on the interstate going a steady speed, or accelerating. also when i come close to a complete stop to turn the vehicle will die. i put it in neutral and it starts right back up and jerks while speeding up. i have almost t-boned someone due to the car dying and the loss of power steering. also i have almost been rear ended numerous times because of the car stalling out and also dying. also after having the car a couple weeks the speedometer and odometer quit working and the light for the speedometer will not work either.

Original owner of 2001 rodeo. received a recall notice for rear suspension lower link bracket. drivers side required installation of a bracket, passenger side was sprayed with wax. recall repair was completed circa 01/2011. took the car to an independent mechanic for brakes last week and was told that the frame is so rusted that it is not worth doing the brakes. mechanic stated that the vehicle would not pass its inspection as the frame is softened due to rusting and is unsafe (don't go on any long drives and think about a new car in the next couple of weeks). contacted isuzu and was told they have no further responsibility as they did everything they were supposed to under the recall agreement. i would like to better understand how the responsibility for rusted frames can be limited to such a small area of the frame component when it appears from the high number of filed complaints that this is a systemic frame rust issue and not simply a localized issue dealing with the rear lower suspension link. this rear suspension link is only the symptom of the actual problem. isuzu is taking the position that if the rust is not in that specific location, they have no responsibility beyond that. is the nhtsa pursuing this issue farther? vehicle is in excellent condition other than the frame. no rust on the body panels/sheet metal whatsoever. please advise,

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. while driving approximately 45 mph, the contact attempted to accelerate but the vehicle decelerated to about 5 mph and continued to coast at that speed. all of the warning lights on the instrument panel were illuminated. the contact drove onto the emergency lane and turned the vehicle off. when she attempted to restart the vehicle, the failure occurred again. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was recalibrated. the failure continued to occur and the vehicle was recalibrated thirty times with no resolution to the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was approximately 17,000. the current mileage was approximately 60,000.

I have had many problems with this car. 1. servo valve 12/2005, 2. door lock, 2005, check engine light, gas meter problems, replace gas tank 1/2008, 3. replace alternator 9/2008, now my transmission is not working nor is my egr and evap sensor. i only have 58,000 miles on this car. also one of the oem brake pads fall out of the holding bracket and got stuck between the caliper and the rotor. nothing but problems with this suv. *tr

The fuel sending unit on the '01 isuzu rodeo is faulty and causes the check engine light to come on and the gas gauge to work improperly. also, the transmission for the '01 rodeo appears to be structurally unsound for the engine. the transmission on my '01 rodeo, after 70,000 miles, has needed to be replaced. this truck has not been used for 4 wheel driving. though they recalled the '02 for the fuel sending unit they did not incorporate the '01 into that recall. *nm

Intermittent problem since 45,000 miles. on automatic transmission, while in drive or from a stop, car does not accelerate despite pushing all the way down on the gas pedal. tried stopping car (to park and back to drive) but does not solve problem. seems to go away if i shift to gear 3 then back to drive. if left in drive, slowly drives five miles per hour for several blocks. only happens at low speeds, mostly when accelerating. took into dealer. could not diagnose problem due to not duplicatable problem. guessed that it was the inhibitor switch, but could not tell me for sure. spoke with isuzu and was instructed to do nothing until it breaks completely. no parts replaced. *ak

The commplaint is a drive shaft problem, izusu is also aware of the problem. they have issued a buletin to the dealers to the defect. the pblemm is that when you step onn the brake you feel a thump in the rear end of the car. there has to be wear and tear on the drive shaft spines or even the ubolts on the drive shaft. i was told by isuzu that there is a special stick grease that was developed by general motors that suppose to solve this problem. well! in my case it has not resolved the problemm as the vehicle has been back to the dealer 3 to 4 times for the same problem.
