When i bought the car a week later it blew hot air, i was told it only needed freon. i found out later that there was a leak and it is $1200. a week after that the car would not start the dealer picked the car up and said that the battery was dead because i left the radio on, it has happened over 30 times, not true there is something wrong. i have replaced tires at least six times. tires completely separate. i was driving and car slowed down on freeway and i was almost hit, i pulled over and it stopped and did it again and i had to push the traction control button, almost cost me my life! it now happens when i hit a bump. when i turn the car makes a extremely loud noise, (embarrassing) i was told it is a ball joint and can catch on fire. engine light has always been on and is now blinking and the car shakes and hesitates. i had to pay to get the brakes fixed 2 months after purchasing. radio turns on for no reason and runs battery down. i was told i have two leaks in my shocks and it is $1800 each. when i back up and turn the steering wheel vibrates. i can't even use the cigarette lighter to charge my cell because it does not work and has been replaced twice. the remote just stop working and i was charged $100 to reconfigure. the brakes act funny, can't even explain it. this car is unreal, a complete piece of junk. i can't even remember half the stuff i have endured and the money i have spent. *nm

I purchased a 2001 jaguar s-type less than a year ago. it has less than 70000 miles on it and while i am driving down the road the motor starts revving up and it won't shift....it says gearbox fault. apparently this is a common problem among this model of car. i was pulling out to make a left turn and was nearly hit because suddenly the car wouldn't go. how many complaints do you have to have to force a recall? i purchased this car because i thought it would be a safe dependable car. very poor craftsmanship! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 jaguar s-type. the contact stated that the vehicle will not start and is difficult to shift out of gear. the failure was reported to the dealer before the warranty expired and the shift cable was replaced. the vehicle shut down again without warning while crossing a rail road track. he was driving 35 mph at the time of failure. he had to push the vehicle off the tracks. the second failure occurred while driving 60 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they diagnosed the cause of failure as the transmission. the replacement will cost $5,000. the powertrain was unknown. the current mileage was 56,627 and failure mileage was 56,400.

Owner of a jaguar s-type 4.0, 2001, 54,000 miles : a warning light came up indicating shift gear failure. the car was taken to the dealership as per their request to investigate the situation. after 3 days i was told that a new transmission was needed. i asked how a relatively new car, very well kept (every service was done on time and at the dealership) could have this major problem. i was told that this type of car frequently have this problems. jaguar is replacing the transmission with a refurbished one for a cost of $2240.00 plus tax. what can i do to get some of this expense back. do i have a valid claim ? it is just hard to see an expensive car like this have this type of problem and since the insurance expired (50,000 miles) just be told to take it or leave it. actually i was told that jaguar was doing me a favor by providing such an inexpensive transmission that they tipically cost about $6,300.00. *ak

My driveway has a very slight incline. when parked on the incline i was unable to get my car out of park unless i used force. in 2004 the gear started sticking. the dealer replaced the cable gear assembly. in july 2006 i had the car in drive but it started rolling backwards. i had to hold the gear in drive in order to drive the car. i drove it directly to the dealer where i had the gear assembly replaced again! it wasn't until the second gear assembly replacement that jaguar informed me that my car came with special instructions...if parked on an incline (slight or otherwise) i needed to engage the hand brake first before placing the car in park. on august 3, 2006 the lever gear shift went out and was replaced. so far, i've spent approximately $900 on issues related to the gear assembly. this is obviously a defect. at what point will jaguar take responsibility for this problem? when the car rolls back on a pedestrian! *jb
POWER TRAIN - AXLE ASSEMBLY
12/11/2003380002
After driving on a freeway in downtown la, arrived in a parking structure. suddenly after a big bang, the front left of car collapsed and stopped. it seemed that the bolt for front axle sheared off, and the component of the axle (a-rod?) pushed into the tire rim. two months ago the car seemed unstable during the driving at speed above 30 mph. the car was taken to the dealership in november (2000 miles before the incident). the dealer indicated that a bolt was loose and they tightened it up. historically, this car was taken to the dealer ship at numerous occasions for the reason of instability during the driving and each time we were told that there is nothing wrong with the car. the incident has resulted in significant damage and caused a release of gasoline leak. if this incident would have happened 10 minutes earlier, the car was being driven in a freeway at a speed of 60 mph. the sudden failure would have resulted in fatality and with the gasoline leak, it would have created a major distastour. the car has 37,000 miles and is jaguar s, v8. the tires are only two months old. the problem was recognized and the actions taken were inadequate and could have resulted in death, if occured 10 minutes earlier. the car has been purchased from and maintained by bauer jaguar in santa ana, california. *ak
