The distance of the brake pedal and accelerator pedal are almost the same distance from the car floor and the pedals are close enough that a foot can contact both. after starting the car in a parking lot and putting in drive i stepped on the brake but the car lurched forward and the harder i pressed the brake the faster the car went over a concrete barrier. the cause was, of course, that i was stepping on both pedals. a year later the same thing happened and i rammed and broke a garage door. the height of the brake pedal must be raised about an inch so that stepping on the brake pedal will not allow simultaneous stepping the accelerator. i have contacted jaguar, north america ref# [xxx]. on my car i have put a 7/8 inch block on the brake pedal to raise the height. if it had been a person ahead of me instead of a garage door i probably would have killed him. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The abs light and a message stating abs fault/park brake fault would display while driving at highway speeds. when the car was stopped and re-started, the message would re-set. this happened several times (> 5), and the dealer did not fix for some time because they never got to see the message. we noticed that the problem occurred during or after a heavy rain. the dealer thought there might have been a problem with a sensor on the wheel.ultimately, the dealer replaced the abs module.*ak

I have a 2003 jaguar s type r. at 32,000 miles i had to replace the pads of my vehicle at all 4 corners. since then my rotors constantly keep warping, even after i brought the car back twice and my rear brakes have unevenly worn down to the point that my right rear rotor started grinding. my car has been in the shop numerous times to have warranty work done and i have informed the dealership of the specific tsbs that correlate to my issues. my rear parking brake module was replaced twice, as was my right rear wheel hub. the dealership disregards any service bulletin that i inform them of by saying that my car does not fit into the vin range, and if it does fit into the vin range they tell me that although there is a service bulletin it is not a bulletin covered by the dealership but by the consumer. my car is under full warranty and i do not understand how a known problem on a car is my responsibility to cover the costs. to correct the warped discs, the dealership resurfaced my discs past the minimum thickness and refused to then give me new rotors. the parking brake actuator they replaced for free because it was an actual recall, and for the unevenly worn rear brakes due to the parking brake actuator they will fix by charging me $850 for new rotors and pads. the dealership refuses to touch wearable items such as brakes or tires, even if the brakes or tires were worn down due to the malfunction of a covered item. the costs keep building up when a new set of tires is $2000 and a new set of brakes is $1600. if jaguar can not manufacture a safe and sturdy vehicle it should not be on their consumer to constantly pay to keep the vehicle safe and road worthy. *tr

 (1) events leading up to the failure: none. the car has been routinely serviced. (2) failure and its consequences: the car, twice, while attempting to accelerate, would slow down and seems to be weighed down. the car will not accelerate. the abs brakes go off, and the emergency brake lights go off. also, error report appears stating that there is a brake failure. it puts me at risk for accidents because on both occasion i was driving the car. (3) what was done to correct the failure: i took the car into a jaguar dealer, but jaguar can not recreate the error, so they are unwilling to replace the braking system. *jb

I purchased a s-type jaguar 2003 june 11, 2002 from park place jaguar houston, texas, i took the car in before 5,000 mile check up and complained about the brakes, a few months later took the car in for 5,000 mile check up complained about the brakes was told that i need a master cylinder, car was left with the dealership for a week. months later the brake light came on and would not go off. jaguar from national sent a wrecker to pick up the car and delivered it to park place jaguar for repair. the car was in the shop for a week again. had a tire to wear out due to faulty brakes, still nothing was done regarding the breaks, i was under the impression that the brakes had been fixed until january 11,2006 when i took the car in for it's 30,000 miles check up at 29,415 and was informed by zack adams the service advisor that i needed new brakes and it would be $585.36 i thank god that zag finally saw the problem needed fixing. for the repair, i have receipts upon your request for the many of times the brakes were addressed for the warranty was over, it is evidenced that i was sold a car with faulty brakes. and jaguar failed to provided me with the safety of my car for 2 1/2 years. if i had been a driver that rode the brakes constantly on the highway, i would be a fatality person. jaguar was negligent in repairing my car safely and refuses to own up to their failure. also the poorly quality of tires that i also reported to the service department and was not helped. i purchased new tires from discount services for $539.09. the car was not safe and a traffic hazard, i contacted them several times regarding issue with car. it should not been 2 1/2 years to ge breaks repair when i started complaining 2 months after the purchased of the car. *jb
