Defect SummaryJayco is recalling 1,673 my 2005-2008 seneca motor homes. an electrical short can occur if the battery cables were not tucked into the compartment in a manner that does not allow the cables to be pinched between the battery slide tray and the compartment door.
Consequence SummaryIf this condition is not addressed, it may result in a fire, injury or death.
Corrective SummaryDealers will relocate the battery cables to the rear battery and reposition a clamp to prevent pinching. the recall began on may 26, 2008. owners may contact jayco at 1-574-825-5861.

Defect SummaryJayco is recalling 1,265 my 2005-2008 seneca '35gs' and my 2007-2008 greyhawk '33ds' and '32ss' motor homes. the conduit clamp on the copper liquid propane (lp) tube feeding the slide-0ut is incorrectly placed which may allow the copper tube to bend and possibly leak with the movement of the slide-out.
Consequence SummaryIf the copper tube cracked, pressurized lp gas may escape into the compartment. this condition, if not addressed, may result in a fire, injury or death.
Corrective SummaryDealers will relocate the conduit clamp and add a rubber grommet to allow adhesion. the recall began on may 26, 2008. owners may contact jayco at 1-574-825-5861.

TRAILER HITCHES

Defect SummaryOn certain motor homes, the distance from the rear cap to the hitch receiver encourages the use of longer ball mounts and/or extensions. the longer the ball mount and/or extensions used, the greater the forces that are applied to the fasteners that attach the hitch to the main chassis rails. these increased forces exceed the allowable forces permitted in the fasteners. when this happens, the fasteners may stretch, loosen, or break causing an unsafe towing condition or separation of the hitch from the motor home.
Consequence SummaryThis could result in separation of the towed vehicle from the motor home which could result in a crash, injury or death.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace all mounting hardware with hardware of a higher grade. the recall began on january 22, 2007. owners may contact jayco at 1-800-283-8267.

11/13/ 2007 gauges began to light up or not work. condition has only gotten worse, leading to the power train fuse to blow while driving, leaving me with no power steering and little brakes. the cluster goes, i only have the speedometer working, which affects my exhaust brakes and my electric brakes that control my trailer. god forbid if the fuse blows while in the mountains with a trailer. *tr

My 2007 jayco seneca motor-home was left at an arizona dealer for warranty repairs. while at the dealership and approximately two weeks after i dropped it off the motor-home started on fire while turned off and parked. it has been determined that a main wiring harness in the rear battery compartment rubbed through the protective coating and caused a short starting the fire. the dealership subsequently checked another customers jayco motor-home and discovered the same problem existed but the wiring harness had not yet rubbed through. my motor-home has substantial fire and smoke damage. jayco is denying any responsible by stating to me that it is the customers responsibility to inspect wiring harnesses in concealed enclosed areas for rubbing. this wiring harness was in the same position as it was when the motor-home left the factory and the placement of the harness is a serious safety issue. the compartment where the fire occurred is right below the main bedroom in the motor-home. *tr
