Consequence SummaryIf this occurs, the abs function would be lose and reduced power assist would be experienced during vehicle braking. the instrument panel warning lights will signal system impairment and the base manual brakes will remain functional.
Corrective SummaryDealers will test the vehicle's abs and repair as necessary. the warranty on all abs components will be extended to 10 years or 100,000 miles (except for the brake actuator piston assembly and the pump-motor assembly which will have a lifetime coverage). owners will be reimbursed for previous abs component repair costs.

Consequence SummaryThe reduced strength can allow the cast iron wear surface to separate from the hub, reducing the brake effectiveness of the vehicle.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace these rotors with rotors that are coated with a corrosion protection.

 I replaced my abs pump motor on my 1991 jeep cherokee in october 2006. mopar part number r2007515. the part has a lifetime warranty under nhtsa campaign number 96v260000. i have sent numerous submissions to be reimbursed and everytime they find some excuse not to pay. they claim it was repaired in 2001, i have the dealer invoice stating that abs actuator was replaced. mopar part number r4746415, not the above mentioned pump. the last time i submitted my paper work in september. they claimed not to be able to find this recall despite me giving them the recall number both the nhtsa # and chrysler recall #702. this is getting ridiculous. any help i can receive from you would be most advantageous. thank you. *tr

 1991 jeep cherokee. consumer states problems with brakes *tgw the consumer stated the abs light illuminated and the brake pedal was very hard. the consumer stated he discovered the master cylinder nearly empty. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and it was determined the abs pump and actuator had failed. the consumer stated the abs pump and actuator failed again which left him with no brakes while driving. the vehicle was taken to the dealer again, where the consumer was informed the abs pump was leaking. *jb

 Dt: the contact received nhtsa campaign recall 96v260000 concerning anti lock brakes. dealership has had this vehicle for a total of five weeks trying to get recall corrected, and contact kept getting the run around from dealership, telling him different stories regarding the problem. the dealership has not even done the diagnostic test, and as of right now they were going to order the parts, but were uncertain of date of availability. the manufacturer stated he could call customer service, and maybe take it some where else, but really nothing for sure of what they could do about this.*ak

 Consumer states abs instrument panel light was on all the time and the power brakes were not working but that the base manual brakes seemed to be working slightly, the brakes were inspected by mechanic and consumer was advised that the anitlock brake system hydraulic control unit had experienced excessive brake actuator piston seal wear and that caused the actuator pump motor to deteriorate, mechanic informed consumer there was a recall for brakes and to take vehicle to delaership, consumer contacted dealership and they advised him that the work had been performed already and they were not going to do anything else, mechanic also called dealership and tried to explain but was told that recall did not apply to brake system. *jb

 Abs always activates at speeds over 45 mph, producing a loud clicking, increasing stopping distance and pulling car sharply to right and left. check abs light comes on after 10 minutes of driving. about every 5 months, check abs light comes on with parking brake light, resulting in complete brake failure. this lasts anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 days, until everything suddenly turns back on and braking is restored. dealer cannot solve problem.*ak

 Caliper has had to be replaced on two separate occasions within 100,000 to 150,000 miles. dealer notified. *ak the consumer states that the caliper mount slide area, which is a part of the knuckle assembly, was worn beyond repair, at eight brake pad plate contact areas. the brake pads hung up in wear grooves, causing delayed movement of pads from caliper hydraulic pressure when stepping on the brake pedal, resulting in increased brake response time, reducing efficiency and increasing danger to the driver and others in the path of the driver. *scc

 I recently installed new bumpstops on the rear of my jeep and noticed a decrease in braking ability. today while driving i had a sudden loss of braking power and rear ended another vehicle. while inspecting my braking system and my jeep for damage. i noticed that i had a rear brake line collapsed. i remember reading about recall 90v206000. it stated that contact at full jounce may cause the brake tube to collapse and restrict the hydraulic brake fluid pressure to the left rear brake which affects the braking capability of the vehicle. this was quoted from this site. i read the documents that were linked, and even though my vin does not pull up the recall, which i have gone to a dealer upon buying my vehicle and had them make sure all recalls were performed. they did not say i needed the recall referenced. my jeep does meet all the other parts of the recall in terms of what vehicles were affected. *tr

 When the jeep hits a hard bump the right rear bump stop will contact the brake fluid line on the passenger side. i had the jeep loaded and when i got home i looked under the jeep and i feel if the jouce bumper its the brake line hard enough it will cut off fluid to the brake on that side. that would cause partial loss of brakes and could kill me.*ak
