My jeep commander driver and passenger seat belts do not lock into place correctly. to get them to lock you have to press and hold in the red release button, then to unlock the seat belt you have to press the red release button. now as of november 22, 2012 the passenger seat belt is hard to lock into place even when pushing the button.the alarm goes off as if it is not engaged and the light on the dash lights up and chimes continuously. i called chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 on november 26, 2012 and was told that there are no recalls. i was told i would have to take it in and pay for a diagnostic and then call back and maybe something can be done. she gave me a reference number, but said that she is still closing the case. when this happened i looked online and found many complaints for the exact same issue. this is a serious safety hazard and should be handled properly by chrysler since it is a defect. i hardly even drive this car and have had older cars which i drove more often that never had any issues. with this same vehicle i had to deal with the stall issues for several months before it was fixed. every time i took it to the dealership i was told that they would have to have it happen while they have it to diagnose it. i have had a wrangler in the past too that had problems. *tr

Jeep commander driver and passenger seat belts do not lock into place correctly. to get them to lock you have to press and hold in the red button, then to unlock the seat belt you also have to press the red button. now in addition, the passenger seat belt when locked into place - the alarm goes off as if the seat belt is not engaged and the dash light also is lite up. sometimes with multiple lock/unlock attempts the alarm may go off. often it chimes relentlessly even when seat belt is engaged. chrysler customer care will not fully replace the defective seat belts even though it is a safety hazard.

My 2006 jeep commander (4.7 liter) constantly stalls and hesitates and the dealer keeps telling me they can't find anything wrong but there are hundreds of complaints online about the same thing and i want to know why this has not been recalled. also the third row seat belts seem to have a problem. *jb

2006 4.7 v8 jeep commander has had multiple problems, the most severe being 3 (out of 7) inoperable seatbelts and sporadic stalling of the vehicle. the first 8 - 10 times the vehicle stalled (went dead), i was at a stopped position attempting to accelerate. the most recent incident happened as i was driving in traffic. i lost all power steering and brakes when the vehicle died. i was going up a slight incline which assisted me in stopping and i put the vehicle in neutral and restarted. i have refused to drive the vehicle since that time out of safety concerns for my children and for others on the road. the dealership has attempted to correct the problem on 4 occasions - nothing has worked. the chrysler corporation refuses to buy-back the vehicle because the dealership has not duplicated the problem in the shop. i have witnesses to the occurrences and have documented each time it has happened. *jb
