Defect SummaryOn certain sport utility vehicles, front brake calipers in a certain lot may have been manufactured from gray iron instead of ductile iron as designed and could fracture without warning.
Consequence SummaryThis would increase the vehicle's stopping distance and could cause a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the front brake calipers to see if they fall into this lot and, if so, will replace them free of charge. the recall began on october 22, 2007. owners may contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

 Tl- the contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. the contact stated the brakes failed on the vehicle. the contact stated the brakes usually work once the brakes are tapped and this time the brakes went all the way down to the floor. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer is stating the brakes are working. the failure mileage was 75,225.rl
