Defect SummaryThis is not a safety recall in accordance with federal regulation 573. however, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. the center rear seat belt buckle may not be accessible when the right (passenger) side of the rear seat back is folded down in the cargo stowage position.
Consequence SummaryIn the event of a collision, the occupant of the center rear seat may not be properly restrained and personal injury could occur.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the seat belt buckle assembly.
NotesNote:chrysler has decided to conduct a safety improvement service campaign to replace the seat belt buckle assembly without charge.owners can contact chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

 None of the shoulder belts locked or restrained in a recent emergency stop. all 4 occupants were thrown forward

 Power window wiring between the drivers door and body (flex conduit) failed, and left only the driver with window control.inspection showed split insulation (fatigue) exposed conductor and open circuit. repair of wire lasted for 4-5 months before additional wires failed and or the same wire failed in a new location. wire insulation seems to be too stiff and cracked, causing stress on the conductors ,and subsequent failure. most resent failure 5-99 caused wires to melt. seatbelt failure: drivers belt will not retract, and is there for loose and unsafe. belt retractor spring was broken and sticking out of unit. *ak

 Driver's seat belt, will not hook into buckle. when it hooks, it will not stay latched. dealer was contacted. *ak the belt has a piece broken off of the assembly that connects to the bottom assembly that the buckle goes into, consumer can take assembly off the belt. *tt

 The fuel pump has been replaced (10) times by different dealerships because the fuel pump just quits. the first replacement in september of 93, and the last replacement in july of 97, with 56,000 miles. chrysler is not able to find the problem with the jeep. *ak fuel tank has also been replaced. female end of seat belt was sticking. *slc

 No accident or crash directly. the drivers seat belt retractor spring broke under completely normal operation. with no alternative transport i had to drive the car home. obviously, if i had been in an accident, i might have been seriously injured. i contacted the dealer who can get a replacement but at a cost of 130 dollars. i asked if they could cover it which they declined. *tr
