| Tl-the contact owns a 1995 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 55 mph the accelerator pedal depressed to the floor and the vehicle surged forward. heavy pressure was applied to the brakes but the vehicle would not stop. the emergency brake was also engaged but the vehicle again would not stop. she began to notice smoke coming from near the tires so she shifted the vehicle into park and it stopped. the vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed and was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 200,000. sm. | |||

| Speed control would work sometimes. replaced sensor transmission is lazy taking off have to put in to 2nd gear for car to move and this is a automatic trans, main engine seal went replace that, transmission leak very badly fix that ,when driving front end shakes sometimes don't know what that is got brakes and still dose it , when sitting at a light jeep tries to take off by itself jerking our heads back , muffler from catalytic converter rotted off while on a family vacation all of this with in a year i work hard and i am not rich always wanted a jeep now i regret it but i am stuck how can i get this mess fix please help!!! *jb | |||

| In the last couple of months, on a number of occasions i will be sitting at a complete stop at a stop light when my 1995 jeep grand cherokee simply accelerates as if the throttle has suddenly opened. the car actually lurches forward with my foot on the brake. i have been able to stop it from entering oncoming traffic only by applying extreme pressure to the brake pedal. i have taken it in to two different garages, but they have not been able to figure out the cause. the problem seems to occur most often in cold damp weather. *ak | |||

| When the car doesn't start in drive i have to switch gears to neutral. inorder to switch gears i have to step on the brake. once the car is in drive and i release my foot off of the brake, there has been 4 times when the car just shot forward. my first reaction is to step on the brakes. there has been no injuries invloved, just severe nervousness. i don't know if there is really anything wrong, so nothing has been checked. i just stay prepared to slam on the brakes. i'm knew to jeeps and i thought this is what jeeps do until i read the article on sudden acceleration which prompted me to fill out this form.*ak | |||

| Ellen romett, (wife) in an attempt to move our 1995 jeep cherokee grand lmt. forward in the driveway a few feet, placed the vehicle in drive with her foot on the brake. the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward at high speed through the yard fence, she immediately hit the brake, however the car continued to travel an additional 34 feet and finally came to stop after hitting a large cherry tree. grass and driveway markings validate her attempt to brake the vehicle and the fact that the acceleration continued even after braking. air bags did not deploy. injuries to my wife appear to be minimal, however, there was extensive damage to the jeep cherokee and $1400 in property damage. *nlm | |||
