I own a 2000 jeep grand cherokee with safety recall #f25 (electric fan). on october 20, 2010, i went to the auto repair shop due to a coolant leakage. the repair shop inspected the vehicle and noticed the leak was caused by a damaged radiator due to the electric fan breaking into pieces and causing the leakage. i paid them $259.00 for the new radiator. i was informed of the safety recall and i decided to go to the riverdale chrysler jeep located at 5869 broadway bronx ny 10463. after a general inspection they noticed the shroud was also damaged and refused to repair/replace stating that it was not covered. i am requesting full coverage of all related parts and labor as this was caused by the fan failure. i am further requesting a reimbursement for the cost of the new installed radiator and i can furnish a receipt as proof. the parts department employee handling my vehicle is keith walker employee #2541 tel# 718 548-3400 ext#305. thank you, juan peters

My 2000 jeep grand cherokee with 90,000 miles has had problems with defrosting and heating for the past year. when it is cold or rainy the windshield will not clear not matter what settings i use. i get snow and ice accumulating on my foggy windshield and i am forced to pull over in dangers conditions and scrap my windows. recently my heat has stopped working on the drivers side and i looked for information online and found numerous forums with thousands of people having the same problems with their jeep grand cherokees. people have complained for years to the dealership and daimler chrysler only to be told it was a comfort issue not a safety issue. it is s serious safety issue and i feel this needs to be looked into before someone does get hurt or worse. they are aware of the problem and the dealerships are willing to charge thousands of dollars to 'fix' problems but it should be recalled because they never fix the problem and customers are taking unnecessary risks to drive their suv's (sports utility vehicles, ironically) without heat, defrost and/or cooling. please take this complaint seriously and look and see how many other similar complaints you have gotten on the same issues with these cars. i can not afford to buy a new car and i do not want to out myself and my family as well as others at risk because one company is not responsible enough to fix such a blatant safety issue. thank you

Both tail light assemblies stopped working and was cited by a police officer. replacement was ~$500. rear lift gate lock actuator is broken, so cannot open lift gate. right rear door lock will not allow opening from inside. shift sensor/solenoid has gone bad twice leading to problems with shifting from gears (revs really high before shifting). rotors are constantly becoming warped and brakes have to be readjusted. left blinker no longer works and to fix it, the dealership told me they have to replace this entire engine block for about $800. power window lock no longer works. other than that, car runs great :). *tr

2000 jeep grand cherokee heat not working - a common complaint of many jeep owners seeking to file a class-action lawsuit against daimler chrysler jeep. $900 + is beyond absurd to pay to fix this common problem that jeep should have recalled and fixed for free. *tr

The failure is in the air conditioning system. the failure causes the air conditioner to only blow cold air. the repair would cost between $1500 and $2500. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 jeep grand cherokee. the heat/defrost function failed in the vehicle. during the winter, the contact must remain cold in the vehicle and the windows become foggy instead of defrosting. the vehicle has been to the dealer twice and they stated that there was possibly a condenser leak in the heater, which caused the control lever for the heating unit to deteriorate. the contact stated that the repair was too expensive. he has found several complaints regarding this failure with the same model; therefore, he believes that the manufacturer should issue a recall. a relay shorted out due to a failure with the heating mechanism and the entire vehicle filled with smoke. there were no injuries. the vehicle has not yet been repaired. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 60,000 and current mileage was 90,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 jeep grand cherokee. when the heater was activated, there was no heat coming from the vents. the contact added antifreeze to the vehicle, but the heat still would not work. she took her vehicle to firestone and they performed a flush. this did not correct the failure, but the pipes became hot. she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the failure was caused by the revolving blend doors and the heating blend doors. the dealer would not repair the vehicle for free because it was not covered by the extended warranty. they stated that they would pay a portion of the repair cost. when she went to have the vehicle repaired, the parts were on back order. when the parts arrived, no one from the dealer called to inform her. the vehicle has not been repaired due to the repair cost. the vin, engine size, number of cylinders, and powertrain were unknown. the failure mileage was 69,000 and current mileage was 75,000.

My has a 2000 jeep grand cherokee limited and the air conditioner has melted where it plugs into the resistor that goes to the blower motor. i went to a local salvage yard in hopes of finding a wrecked vehicle similar to ours to but the wiring harness. to my dismay he had 2 but there was only one problem they had burned, with fires starting at the resistor described above. i left jeep an email explaining what i found and that was afraid ours would come to the same fate. there response was that there were no active recalls on this vehicle and that there was nothing they could do. so i went the a local jeep dealer to buy a new wiring harness($500 their cost)and was informed there was a patch or fix for the problem. i don't mind spending the money to fix our car but if there was not a serious problem why would there be a patch or quick fix for the problem. we have a 2 yr. old son and i really don't want my wife to use this car but we have no other choice. i just wonder how many other people have had this same problem and never reported it, now there was a recall on certain dodge ram pick ups with this same problem, why hasn't the jeep grand cherokee been recalled? *ak

A fowl odor was seeping into vehicle from air conditioner (a/c). plastic within unit has melted down and corroded from using heat in winter time. moisture inside the unit has caused mildew and dealer has sprayed a anti- fungus bacteria on the coils, killing the bacteria, and refreshing vehicle. odor and fungus still there. consumer took vehicle back to dealer in june to find out that entire a/c unit had to be replaced for a cost of $ 89.00 at consumer's cost. consumer does a lot of traveling, and needs the vehicle for trasnsportation. consumer please add vin# and mileage to this form.*ak
