I receipt safety recall m35/nhtsa 12v-527 on february 2013, every day callto the office dealer and said, i am not receipt the part. please call again. i have problem because the airbag warning light is permanent on. thank you so much for your attention and this problem.

I was sent a letter from chrysler about my jeep grand cherokee airbag problem. in november of 2012 this vehicle, which is driven by my 20 year old daughter, had the airbag light illuminate. i contacted our mechanic here in bend, oregon and he informed me that the airbags were not functioning and that immediate attention was needed to repair this problem. i did not allow my daughter to drive the car and had the repair made at a cost of about $500.00 dollars. shortly after this repair, i received the recall notice from chrysler and talked to my mechanic who confirmed that this is exactly the repair that was made. i send chrysler the repair bill as they stated on the recall form. two weeks ago i received a phone call from chrysler informing me that the parts are not available to fix this problem and they are not sure of what is causing the problem, therefore they will not be refunded for this repair. chrysler is trying to delay or deny this very serious safety issue and i do not appreciate the way this was handled.
01/07/2013
I received a recall notice approximately two months ago saying the vehicles air bags may deploy without notice or incident. i have repeatedly called to get this corrected and have been told that the part is not available. i called the chrysler headquarters and was told that the part has not yet been manufactured and there is no timeline for when the part may come in.

Chrysler announced a recall of my 2002 jeep grand cherokees m35/nhtsa 12v-527 informing me that there was a small chance of an electrical overstress could occur and if this overstress condition occur, it could cause damage to the orc computer chip causing the airbag light to illuminate, followed almost immediately by an inadvertent deployment of the front or side airbag! inadvertent deployment of the airbags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash. chrysler intends to repair my vehicle, however; the part is currently not available. why is it taking chrysler sooo long with producing this part??? i contacted my local chrysler dealership only to find out, the dealer had no knowledge of this recall and could not advise if my vehicle was even safe to drive. this is extermely poor customer service and needs to be resolved, asap. it would appear since this vehicle is more than 10+ years old chrysler does not have any intentions on the repair and does not want to accept liability if an accident occurs while i am driving it. again, extermely poor customer service!!!!!!!

In november 2012, chrysler and you announced a recall of my and just under a million other 2002 jeep grand cherokees m35/nhtsa 12v-527. it is now 3 months later. about 3 weeks ago, i received a recall notice, telling me firstly there was a recall (does it really take 2+ months to notify me?) and that chrysler was hoping the parts for a permanent fix, currently unavailable, would be available as quickly as possible -- with absolutely no hint of how long this might be. does it really take more than 3 months to manufacture and distribute a part involved in a safety recall -- a small chance of an inadvertent deployment of the front ...or side airbag! inadvertent deployment of the airbags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash. and, as for nhtsa, shouldn't you be prodding chrysler to hasten the completion of this recall? *tr

My 8 year old daughter had a pulmonary appointment. we were leaving the doctor's office, a lot of traffic, i drove on the on ramp to the highway 285 westbound. while driving onto the interstate, my jeep grand cherokee '02, a beep sounded, i looked at the dashboard and the airbag light came on and within not even a second, both airbags deployed while i was driving. the steering wheel is destroyed, the dashboard and the front glass. smell and smoke filled the suv while i was able to drive the suv over to the side of the highway. my child was crying from being so scared. i called the dealer that i always used to service my jeep to see if i could drive off the highway. i was afraid being on a busy atlanta highway, a crying 8 year old and smoke coming out of the suv. they told me no and to call chrysler for tow. i did and they were going to take me to the nearest jeep dealer (roswell, ga) but would be 50 min. wait. i explained to them that i was on an extreme busy highway, and 8 year old and had to get off this highway now. while talking, a tow truck pulled off in front of me. he spoke to chrysler and arranged for payment directly from chrysler and drove us to roswell, ga. the dealer would not give me a rental car. i called my insurance company. i got rental which the dealership called hertz for me and they (hertz) picked my child up and myself and drove us to their shop to get a car. i am now driving a rental and have no ideal who is paying for this. my husband called the manager at the dealership and was told that they could not touch the suv and someone from chrylser safety looked at the car. i just called chrylser's 1-800 number and told them the incident and wanted a person's name, number and how is this procedure handled. i was told by lachina (spelling?) that it was usually 3 business days, no person contact but yet someone should call me prior to viewing. i asked how my rental situation would be handled and she did not know. *jb

I own a 2002 jeep grand cherokee and both of the side curtain air bags deployed while i was driving. there was no impact or collision. i was making a right hand turn when the air bag light came on. immediately after that passenger side curtain air bag deployed. then a couple of seconds later the driver side curtain air bag deployed. i pulled into the store parking lot and had the car towed to a service shop. insurance investigator determined it was mechanical failure.

I was driving my 2002 jeep grand cherokee when i began to take a right turn into a shopping center. suddenly, without warning, my side curtain airbag deployed with great force. i was able to slow the vehicle and then pull into a parking space without incident. upon inspection i found that there had been no impact, no damage to my vehicle in any way, except that the side airbag was now hanging down. chrysler initially refused to pay for any part of the incident, then finally agreed to pay for the airbag to be re-installed. i was made to pay for the airbag sensor ($200), the airbag console ($320) and a $100 deposit on the airbag itself.
