2003 jeep grand cherokee stalls when idling at stop lights, it also nears stalling and then lunges forward when idling. i was stuck in the center lane during rush hour traffic last evening with my 2yo in the back seat when my jeep stalled. this is not an uncommon occurrence, it has happened every day for the last month. this is a very serious and dangerous situation; it makes you feel as if you have no control over your vehicle! i am taking it to the dealership on sat, but from complaints i have read on comsumeraffiars.com i am not expecting them to be able to do anything. i have already contacted jeep and even though there are recalls for certain models for the exact same problem my vin doesn't match up to be able to do anything about it. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle stalls and the rpm's begin to rise suddenly. the vehicle does not backfire, jerk, or make noises. the failure occurs while driving at any speed. the contact must activate the hazard lights and restart the engine. usually, the vehicle restarts, but sometimes it takes 3 or 4 attempts to restart. the dealer replaced the crankshaft position sensor, which remedied the issue for a few hours. the failure recurred the same day she retrieved the vehicle from the dealer. the contact is scheduled to take the vehicle back to the dealer, but just wants the defect to be corrected properly. she researched the failure and found numerous complaints for the issue. she believes a recall should be issued for the defect. the current and failure mileages were 88,442.

I took my vehicle in for the routine oil change at the dealership i purchase the vehicle. after that day, the vehicle vibrates to the point you cannot play a cd. they are telling me this is how the vehicle performs. i have been to the dealership many times with the same response. i also have taken it to other chrysler dealership with the same answer, it seems that the answer is the same after they look at the repair history. i also have met with the chrysler marketing rep twice, and the dealership told me that the chrysler technical rep drove the vehicle. yet when i requested a encounter with him they declaim and said there is no technical rep. i also met with the general manager from the dealership twice, sales manager many times, i need this to be look into because i think my vehicle was tampered with, because if it was running like this when i bought it i would have not bought it. the vibration is getting worst. i do have a extended warranty, that i cannot use because they refuse to even look at the vehicle. their solution was to sell me another vehicle, which i declined because they wanted more money down. why should i buy another vehicle when i have a new one that they destroyed.

The heating/cooling system on my 2003 grand cherokee is an insult to the other qualities of this vehicle! the internal doors that direct air through the system is extremely cheaply made. mostly plastic-a very poor grade! the dealer says it will cost close to a $1000 to repair and he wouldn't guarantee it would not happen again. i think chrysler should be responsible for something this poorly made. it is no wonder they are in trouble and the government is giving them billions of dollars to make more inferior jeeps! i have not had the repairs made,i just don't have the money. so my wife has to ride to work in a luxury vehicle with no heater! there is no doubt this should be a recall!!!!! *tr updated 10/23/09 *cn

I own a 2003 jeep grand cherokee with the dual climate control and the blend doors of the heating system have failed causing cooled air out one side of the vehicle. the repair will cost anywhere from $300 (if i do it myself) up to $1500 for a dealer to fix it. this is such a huge undertaking that most if not all owners can not do it themselves. in my research i have found that around 90% of jeep from 2000 to 2004 have this problem. this is not a small issue and the auto maker is fully aware of the failing equipment installed in these vehicles. there either needs to be a recall to correct the problem or a class action law suit against the dealer. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 jeep grand cherokee. the radiator fan has burned out twice within 17 months. the first time it occurred the contact was pulling out of a drive thru at 10 mph and the vehicle began to overheat. the following day, she took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the air conditioner fan relay switch failed, which caused the radiator fan not to work. the dealer replaced the fan and it worked properly. however, seventeen months later, the failure has recurred. the vehicle is currently at the dealer. the manufacturer stated that there was a recall for this failure and the contact believes it is due to a manufacturer defect. the nhtsa campaign id number was not found. the failure mileage was 56,000 and current mileage was 74,000.

Dual zone climate control in jeep grand cherokee blows hot air on drivers side and cold on passenger side when ac is on lowest temperature. the car has been in several times for the same problem. the dealer just replaced everything in the dashboard to fix this problem and i am having the same issue. my major concern is that as the winter approaches the windows will fog more and ice up. the inproper heating and cooling will not defrost the windows causing a dangerous situation for driving. my wife uses this car to drive my child and i do not want to risk thier safety. there are websites all over listing people with the same problem for years.

Purchased a 2003 jeep grand cherokee limited from carmax on sept 30th 2002. immediately after purchasing the vehicle, a high pitch sound started to be heard while the car is idling. i've taken the car to two different dealers approximately a total of five times or more and no one at the dealership was able to pin point the problem. initially, the dealer thought the noise might be related to the belt, but once the belt was changed the noise persisted. the engine was also checked and unfortunately the noise is still being heard and it is more pronounced. then on top of everything else, the heating vent on the passenger side has malfunctioned conviently after the warranty just recently expired. in addition on march 12th 2004, upon bringing my truck into the dealership for servicing, the machanic scraps the side of the truck removing the paint off of the rear passenger door and antwerpen jeep doesn't want to compensate me. please advise. any info that you would be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. this has not been a good experience for me. i purchased a new ford mustang in 1997 and was completely satisfied, had no problems with the car and the service was exceptional.*ak
