My vehicle has 40,000 miles, emaculate condition except for the door handles and their structures around them. the drivers door is barley exitable. sometimes i have to roll the window down to get out.(how imbaressing, to be a top of the line, showroom quality; still ; vehicle). we bought it new in november 2004. have been so happy with it until 2 months ago. the passenger and rear passenger handles are cracked as well. please help me, i'm just sick about it.

On the drivers door and the right passenger door, the plastic of the panel supporting the interior door handle has broken leaving the handle unmounted and useless. obviously, this is a safety hazard as it takes more time to egress the vehicle in an accident

2005 jeep grand cherokee. the interior door handles (2) have broken and caved into the door panel. the doors must be opened from the outside. if someone was somehow trapped inside the vehicle, this would create an additional safety concern. the dealership wants to charge $700.00 to fix each door. i have spoken to several jeep grand cherokee owners and this seems to be a very common problem.

2005 jeep grand cherokee- inside door handle/panels. in 5yrs the door handles are already cracking and falling into pieces. the plastic used surrounding the actual handle is cheap. unreal to think now that this was ok'd. eventually there is no more handles, resulting with people stuck inside the vehicle. what's next...the motor for the windows goes out and then your really stuck or dead now??? i mean come on. chrysler make some new panels...fix your problem!

Since i purchased the car in january i have had about a dozen incidents where upon fully depressing the brake the gas pedal was also pressed accelerating the car. the most frieghtening time was on the 12th. where the car shot out into traffic and i had to swerve to avoid an accident. it is more likely to happen when wearing more bulky shoes. it is obvious that the brake and gas pedal are improperly located with respect to each other. i have driven many cars over my lifetime and this is the only car that has presented this problem. i intend to bring this problem to the attention of the dealer as well as chrysler. i have researched several other similar complaints.

2005 jeep cherokee limited. there has been an issue for years reguarding the plactic door panels interrior of the car. with all 4 doors cracked and 1 ( drivers door) will not open from the inside. this is a life safety to all occupants in this car. with a crash or fire to happen and you cant get out of a door due to poor design of the door by the manufactor. theses door panels start out with small hair cracks and one time of opening the door you have cracked all the plastic and not able to open up the door. i feel that jeep needs to stand up and correct this issue on a recall. after this happeneing you can take it in and they will put the new design that doesnt have this poor design for just over 800 dollars a door. so with this manufactor making a change to the panel, says they knew it was a poor design. this is happeneing to my understanding jeeps of 2005- to around 2010. i have paid close attenetion to the same year that i own and 90% of the time you see the cracks at the handels inside. please lets figure somthing out before people lose there kids life or there own life.

This has happened a lot. while driving all the intrument lights will flash, causing the ac/heater to turn off and on, headlights to go off, and traction control to turn off. twice recently the vehicle has shifted itself into reverse with the gear selector still in drive. i have taken it to a shop and they went through the entire electrical system and could not find a source for this problem. all jeep owners i have talked with (over 30) have this exact same issue. this is extremely unsafe and jeep needs to be held responsible.

The vehicle will not idle when hitting the brakes at a stop sign or traffic light.or coming to a complete stop resulting in a rear end collision. from the vehicle not maintaining a normal idle position.this is a danger to the vehicle occupants and anybody else on the road .jeep is aware of the problems and have not come up with a solution for the customers.i have seen this same thing reported to the nhtsa onrecord a million times and will see this issue gets adressed if i have to call a senator that is a good friend of mine somebody is going to answer for this! to read the amount of complaints that have been reported to the nhtsa and nothing has been done is unaceptable and i can assure you the nhtsa better invetigate this imediately. this pertains to jeep grand cherokee 2005 v8 4.7 liter motor found in 57% of all jeeps that were built. you can go to youtube and see this in a video of this happing and its also on the jeep forums web site posted a million times.

My interior driver door handle started cracking, then eventually broke and is useless. at first i thought it might have been something i did until the back passenger on the driver door did the same thing. i rarely have passengers in the back so i know its not just wear; instead, just crappy quality. when you're a die-hard jeep person you don't want to admit (especially to yourself) they would've used poor quality. unfortunatley, after reading about everybody else that this has happened to, its obvious it is infact just poor quality.

All door handles are broken on the inside. these have not been used improperly. the plastic behind the handle is very weak and it breaks. neither of my back doors can be opened from the inside. i am completely retricted from using the back seat of my car because if an accident were to occur, anyone in the back seat would be trapped inside the vehicle. front doors are equally broken but can be opened afer a few tries. the hazard is still there for myself and anyone in the front seat. although this plastic is an independent piece, the dealer will only sell the whole indoor panel at $500.00 each door panl plus labor. i called to file a complaint wwith chrysler and they responded you are on your own. the are no recalls or waranty. you have to pay it on your own. then i try to find genreic or aftermarket handles and realize that literaly every shop i visited has dozensof customers with my same car and my same problem, some that chrysler responded to and some that they did not. anyways, it is a serious defect on the jeep grand cherokee 2005 indoor handles that isputting people's lifes at risk and chrysler is not doing anything about it but bully their customers and avoiding their responsibility.

The interior panel handles are all broken, i called the dealer and they said this would cost around 1,400 dollars to replace each frontside handles, by doing research over the internet i've notice that this is a very common defect on this vehicles, at this moment chrisler doesnt want to take any responsabilities on this defect. i am worry that in case of an accident my family and me could get stock inside the car.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 jeep grand cherokee. the air conditioner would only function properly when on a high setting. the repair shop stated that the wire harness for the blower motor was melting and causing the failure. the dealer stated that a new blower and wire harness was needed. the current and failure mileages were 32,600.

Purchased vehicle on 7-31-06. upon test drive the door locks would nt lock or unlock when using door key (any dr in the car). the remote did work. salesman told us 2 bring it in if it cont'd. taken in 5 times since the 1st time in october 05', dealerships cannot dupt the issue. last dealership said that if he toggled switch about 10 times it happened, but that was just overheating the button & that is normal. problem is i work in a building w/a prkg garage & work all hrs. when i get into my car, 4 safety i lock the drs immed. there have been several occasions where i can't do that & have 2 wait 2 get the car moving over the 15mi an hour 2 lock the drs. next issue is the delayed engagement in the transmission going 2 rev or drv. the car has been in on 3 occasions for this item of which the dealership clears codes or cannot dupt the issue. this issue became a an issue in a construction zone at a rr track near our home. gates were down when i drove up & i was 3rd car back, the gates went up, 2 cars went through & i was almost at the tracks when the railroad arms started coming down again. i put on the brakes & shifted to reverse 2 back up & the delay nearly caused the rr arm 2 hit the car. i backed up just enough to clear the rr arm by less than 6 inches. the last item is the a/c. since late march of 06' we have been experiencing the a/c blowing cold, then the air turns 2 warm or hot air blowing from 3 sec 2 minutes of blowing humid air before the system will kick in again with cold air. this has been intermittently like the other 2 items above. 3 times into the dealerships & again it was stated they fixed it when it wasn't or it's 114 degrees out, it is going 2 blow warm air. using outside air will make the a/c blow warm air'. the incident date is hard since there are 3 issues so i put the day of purchase. the failures are also hard to calculate, but since these items happen intermittently & or everyday (a/c) i counted 3 mo worth. *nm

My 2005 jeep grand cherokee needed a flat changed. the jack in the car was not able to jack the car high enough to get the flat wheel dismounted easily nor could the new wheel be mounted from the trunk. the dealer sent a shop mechanic who also could not get the jack high enough. i had to call aaa. i also know of 3 more jeeps (2-2005 and 1-2006) with the same potential problem. oddly, one of them, which is owned by a lady friend, had the oddest problem. my brother-in-law was driving it one day. turns out there was a wheel shimmy going on. he stopped the vehicle on the side of the highway. when he called me he indicated 3 lug bolts were missing which we both thought strange. he subsequently coaxed the car very slowly home. the dealer charged the lady for the repair and remounting of a new tire. i suspect that she had a flat, got some help and because the new wheel was not mounted in a true fashion because the car could not be raised high enough, she just had to make do. that was dangerous for the lady. as it turns out, my wife also has one of the jeeps i mentioned, and i have instructed her to just call aaa when and if she gets a flat, so the tire can be dismounted and remounted with the new one safely. all our cars have 17 wheels. the jack needs to go up at least 2-3 inches more to all for proper mounting or else the wobble will result and hence , ultimately the bolts will break off given the stress. i mentioned it to my dealer once i had aaa repair my car and asked the dealer to repair and get the problem fixed with the manufacturer. i also think the lady i mentioned who paid for her repairs because of jeep's equipment design defect should be reimbursed for her misery. *jb
