I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee with cloth seats. i don't know what the material is made of, and really don't care. water will stain the cloth immediately and is unable to be cleaned. i have tried everything, however all cleaners have water in them. maybe i could take it to the dry cleaners. i think chrysler should go to the cleaners!!! *tr

Upholstery fabric is highly susceptible to staining!!! it does not clean when shampooed. even rain drops stain the fabric. i have shampooed and even had the fabric scotch-guarded on 4 separate occasions, yet it still stains, even by rain drops. i have complained to the dealers service department but to no avail. i won't purchase another jeep due to this frustration. i take pride in keeping my vehicle clean and like new. i am very embarrassed to have passengers ride in my jeep. it gives them a bad impression of me as well as chrysler! i really regret purchasing this jeep. *tr

Upholstery fabric is highly susceptible to staining!!! it does not clean when shampooed. stains remain & actually become worse with cleaning. even rain drops stain the fabric. this is absolutely unacceptable!!! i can see why chrysler introduced yes fabric in 2007. i wish i had it. the only solution is re-upholstery. i have considered having leather installed but decided it was too costly. had i known the upholstery would stain so easily i would not have bought cloth interior!!!!!! *jb

I attempted to install a car seat for a 3 year old child in the back seat of my 2005 grand cherokee. however, the head rest interfered with proper installation of the car seat. the head rest would not allow the seat to be tightly mounted to the back seat of the car, but rather held the child seat out by about 2-3 inches. this prevented the seat from being safely installed. it is very difficult to remove the head rest from this vehicle. i had to take it to the dealer to get this done. but when the head rest is removed, there are two prongs that protrude out, making the situation even more dangerous. i called chrysler to get advice on what to do. they said go to the dealer, but the dealer could not solve the problem either. i then called chrysler again, and they insisted this is not a problem. but it is! daimler- chrylser needs to address this problem. it is a design flow. at the very least they should provide a list of infant car seats that can be properly installed -- if any such seats exist. *jb

Dt: consumer stated his vehicle was designed so that the driver and passenger rear seats have head rests that make it impossible to properly install a forward facing car seat in the rear seat. the head rests strike the top of the car seat so that the consumer can not put the car seat flush against the back seat. the only place the car seat will properly fit is in the middle of the rear seat. the consumer stated that two car seats can't be in the back seat. consumer contacted the manufacturer and they referred him to a dealer that is licensed to install car seats. the dealer told the consumer that this was a problem, the dealer had already informed the manufacturer of the problem. manufacturer says that they have fixed problem for 2006 year model by replacing the headrests, but they can not do anything to retrofit 2005 year models. the consumer says that the only solution is to buy a much smaller and not as safe car seat. *jb

Head restraint on my new jeep grand cherokee limited (2005) tilts forward a few inches (compared with my previous 2002 laredo). there is no adjustment to pull the head restraint back, only an up and down option. the head restraint is pushing my head forward instead of it being straight with my body as i drive the vehicle. this turtles the head and causes headaches. the manufacturer and jeep dealer have not provided a remedy or refund thus far.

I leased a 2005 jeep grand cherokee from a local dealership in wilmington, de. i recently experienced a significant problem with the rear seats and their ability, or lack thereof, to accommodate a child's car seat. as my daughter continues to grow we have changed her car seat to the forward facing position and it is currently located in the center of the back seat. as she continues to grow it is becoming difficult to place her in the child car seat located in the center of the back seat. thus, we attempted, unsuccessfully, to move her car seat from the center position to the right rear seat position. however, due to the shape of the vehicles seat and inability to remove the head rest, we were unable to safely secure her car seat in the right rear seat position. we have since tried to install two other child seats and neither worked. thereafter, we made arrangements to have someone from christiana hospital who is certified by the nhtsa install the seat and she too was unable to do so as a result of the vehicle's seat design and headrest. we have raised this issue with the dealership and daimler chrysler but they simply tell us to consult our owner's manual and seatcheck.org. however, i have read the owner's manual several times and it states that a child's seat can be installed in any of the rear seat positions. moreover, the representative from the hospital that attempted to install the seat is one of the individuals you are directed to from the www.seatcheck.org website. thus, i have no where else to turn so i thought the most prudent thing to do would be file a complaint with the nhtsa. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated the rear head rest did not pull down to allow a child seat to be secured in the seat safely. because of the head rest the child seat was pushed forward. the dealership and manufacturer determined the head rest is designed in that manor and it is a problem in that type of vehicles.

2005 jeep grand cherokee does not allow for proper & safe child seat installation!! the back seat head rest tilt forward impeding the ability for car seats to lay flush against seat. removal of head rest (which was the only option from jeep) leave 2 large metal bars that children can receive serious injury from in just entering their seats on their own! there is no safe option for child car seat/boosters. this is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed! this was also not mentioned to us until we brought it to the attention of the jeep dealership in which their reply was they were aware of the issue and nothing could be done. *jb
