During the weeks of early march, i experienced leaks of the interior of my 2006 jeep grand cherokee dripping on the passenger side (a-pillar), driver side (a-pillar) and above the home garage door controls (overhead console) after it rained/snowed. i brought in the vehicle on march 22 to a jeep dealership service center where it was troubleshooted with re-securing the weather strip above windshield and a gasket in the sunroof was replaced (tsb 23 040 06). however 2 days later the leak occurred again on the passenger side and driver side (abover the driver, myself) in which it does take your focus off the road as water drips on your legs/knee. the leak has yet to be resolved, as vehicle was brought in a second time on march 28 and no confirmed trouble-shoot was completed as i retrieved the vehicle back on march 31st with a theory of the leak either coming from the windshield or the sunroof. the service technicians said they would call back once more detail was investigated by the manager however i never received once call-back. interestingly on the 28th when i brought the vehicle in he said this was the 4th vehicle this week, among others that i myself have found online of multiple jeep owners even the 2011 model having the same issue which is a safety issue as thunderstorm season is here and heavy downpours and leaks dripping on the driver are distractive and take focus off the road. i dont understand why a recall has not been issued from jeep after so many owners have this issue and end up paying out of pockets for repairs to their carpets(mold), stereo damage, among other things. fortunately i have not heard of any major accidents from this but a distraction is definately out there for drivers if it leaks or starts leaking while on a highway.

Purchased a new 2006 grand chrokee. after i reaching 1,200 miles the vehicle began to shudder or surge, almost feeling like a miss. this may happen at any speed, and in any driving condition, but especially between 35-60 mph. believe it or not it was worse when it was cloudy and cool or damp. i have tried everything that i knew to get the dealer and the manufacturer to repair this. it has been in the shop or down there being test driven and codes taken 8 times. they try to tell me that this was normal. no way!!!! this was extremely annoying, reduced the value of the vehicle and my faith in it. the dealer, and the manufacturer. , after extensive research have found out that there was a recall on the 2005 model for something very similar. the cause was moisture entering the transmission fill tube and causing the torque converter to shudder. also, there were some engine fires due to this. i asked for a trade for a new vehicle and both refused. so now i am about to apply for lemon law or arbitration, or what i am allowed by law for buyb ack. i have also notified our local media, attorney general and bbb. please tell me what else i need to do!*ak

The interior door handle on the drivers side front started to get hair line cracks in it. it is cracking more and more with use. at some point the handle will come apart and i will not be able to get out of my car. i asked the dealer about a repair and they want $800.00 to replace the whole door panel. it appears this will happen with the other doors as well. there are after market repair kits, but after researching and finding that this is a chronic problem with the handles, i believe jeep should replace or repair them for free. *tr

All four interior door handles and attaching mounts on my jeep grand cherokee are now cracked are now not usable to exit the vehicle, numerous complaints to delmar chrysler go unheard and unanswered, and the company offers no solution or recall to this obvious defect in the manufacture of this vehicle. the plastic used to mount the door handles is brittle and will crack beyond repair, making it impossible to open the door from the inside, this is a major safety issue. the vehicle cannot be exited by passenger in the event of a crash or emergency. i suppose someone will die in a crashed, burning, or sinking vehicle before chrysler will step up and recall this important safety issue.

After buying a pre-owned 2006 jeep grand cherokee limited (59k miles) a few days ago, i noticed that one of the backseat interior door handles is broken. there is no apparent break from what you can see, but some plastic must have cracked inside of the door itself. i've read that this is a common problem in 05-07 jeep grand cherokees and there is no recall. it seems that, although it is only the one interior door handle now, eventually all four will break. this is a safety issue because it prevents passangers from exiting the vehicle without help from outside of the car. the fix is quoted at $400/door, making it somewhat unreasonable, especially for a crucial and simple function of the car.

I have a 2006 jeep cherokee laredo and 3 out of 4 interior door handles are completely broken. i even have an extended warranty that is supposed to cover everything but was told by the dealership that trim is not covered. how are interior door handles considered trim? i was told that the entire door panel would have to be replaced at $400.00 each. this is not a cosmetic issue but a safety issue. the doors will not open from the inside. i am very afraid of getting into a car crash and my children not being able to exit the vehicle. i have read many, many stories of the exact same problem with these door handles. there should be a recall by daimlerchrysler.

Long story short my wife heard a noise in the passenger side front end. i had her stop by belle tire (where tires came from) to check it out. they said the passenger side lower control arm bracket separated from the frame and was not safe to drive! belle said they had never seen anything like it! i had it taken to town & country collision in flat rock (an a-1 shop) and they said they can't fix it unless they replace the whole frame! i also have a friend that's an insurance adjuster who has never seen anything like it! i'm wondering if there were ever any incidents in your system for anything like this? i will offer to give you the vehicle, as i did with chrysler in my complaint to them, for investigative purposes? i know from my years of work in the automotive industry that there were salt spray tests & requirements on most chassis parts. people are astounded that a 15 year old jeep that's never been in an accident and is garaged and kept clean and maintained and still running like top could have a failure as this! any assistance or direction you can provide is appreciated.

I have a 2006 jeep grand charokee laredo. the paint has been cracking and peeling for the last two years. i have already had the roof and hood painted and spent ovr $1000.00. when my repair guy painted it, he told me there was three coats of paint on the vehicle. i purchased the vehicle from medved in castle rock, co in 2006 brand new. it has never been repainted. i have spoke to 3 dealerships and they told me it is a common problem. the entire vehicle is now cracked and will be completely peeled off in 1 year. the quote to fix it is $3500.00 - $4000.00. i called jeep and they offered free oil changes for 2 years. rediculous. i a still have a loan on it. there is no possible way i can afford to repaint this vehicle. drew kuyper 719-447-5900 drewkuyper@yahoo.com

I just recently purchased a 2006 jeep grand cherokee for over $14,000. within the first month before i have even made my first payment 3 of the 4 interior door handles have broken. i went back to the dealer and was told this is an issue that has to be taken up with the manufacturer. after coming home and doing research on the internet i have seen endless complaints of this happening, but yet nothing has been done to correct this safety hazard by chrysler. imagine for a moment your in an accident and are unable to open your car door to free yourself, or even worse your child. i cannot imagine this is an issue that chrysler would not take care of. for all three handles to break at once is unbeivable and for chrysler to feel they do not owe the consumer a recall to rectify this situation is mind boggling. i personally have called and voiced my opinion and was told to fix it myself. believe me i will be going to my lawyer in the morning to see what needs to be done to file a class action suit against chrysler and to also have documentation that i have voiced my concern about this safety hazard to no avail. *tr

All door handles inside vehicle are broke. you cannot open the vehicle unless you roll window down and open door from the outside. this is a safety issue. if there is no power to vehicle to roll window down, you will be stuck in the vehicle. in an emergency situation, you will not be able to exit vehicle. several complaints from 2003-2008 filed about same issue from multiple models. a recall needs to be issued. *tr

We bought an 04' jeep grand cherokee at jeep chrysler dodge of warwick, the service engine light kept coming on. we took it down for service and they said it was the gas cap. the light still came on and had a hard time starting. we traded it in at the same place 1 month later for an 06 jeep with 15,000 miles on it. shortly after this purchase the 4 wheel drive started making horrible noises. we took it for service and they said that it was supposed to make that noise. after that the battery died and they towed it there and replaced the battery. now we have problems with the jeep stalling out when we are parked or at an idle. the front passenger side door has came loose from the weld breaking. now it is hitting the front quarter panel and is chipping paint. all four doors are coming away from the welds causing a safety hazard to all of the passengers. we brought it down for the dealer to look at the doors and they kept putting us of because they said they did not have a loner car, or that the manager was not there, or that there body shop was not available. now they say that we never brought it down to show them. every time we brought it to them they never put it in the shop and made excuses for all of the problems. they never put in there computer that we came to them, with these problems and deny that we had any. the one time when they replaced the battery we picked it up with almost 150 extra miles on it. we have been extremely unhappy with the dealers service and the quality of the vehicle itself. *jb

To whom it may concern: this morning i went outside to my 2006 jeep grand cherokee limited, to pack it up for the day. i opened the back lift gate and began to load items. as i was loading stuff, the lift gate came crashing down on the top of my head, with no resistance. it hit so hard that for a moment, i was unaware of what had just happened. i tried to lift it off of myself, and it bounced back off my head again. i immediately got myself into the house to seek help. the pain was unbearable and i had tingling in the right side of my face and neck, and burning and throbbing pain in my head and right ear. i was immediately rushed to the dr's office and was told that i have a contusion, with bleeding in the muscle and symptoms similar to a concussion. i did not lose consciousness, but am suffering all symptoms. i was told to keep ice on the area and take tylenol for the pain. i need to be kept under observation for the next 24 hrs by my family. my father has come to the assumption that with it being 8 degrees outside, that the pistons were lacking or contained frozen fluid, which causes them to not work properly. this is a major issue, not only to me, but to others. this should not be happening regardless of temperature. i am thankful that no children were standing next to me, as it would have probably created a fatality with the weight and speed of the gate crashing. i have had to have the front hood piston replaced for the same problem, but never even thought of the back lift gate being an issue. i can tell you this is my second suv and i never had this issue before with my other suv, not even in temperature below zero. please address this issue as soon as possible before someone else gets hurt, as most people are unaware of this issue, just like i was. i have only had this jeep for a little over a month and it has been nothing but problems technically. now that i have gotten those fixed, i physically get injured by it. *tr

Purchased 2006 jeep grand cherokee new. within first 6 months have been taking it bake to the dealer for intermittent lack/stalling. this happens while driving at different speeds and mostly making slight turns or when i begin to turn as well as up and down hill. this has been going on for the last 2 yrs,but most recently has happened alot more offend. i have taken it to the dealer with no result each time. within the last 2 weeks is has stalled at least 7 times. 9/27/08 i was injured from slamming the breaks and fighting the steering to avoid a head on collision at an intersection while starting to make a turn. i did take it to the dealer and again with no result. the day i dropped it off at the dealer it shut down in their lot. i was told that this would have been recorded in the codes, but they told me they found nothing. the next day it stalled while dropping my son off at school. he was with me when i was injured so i can prove it does happen. i did call the dealer back and that was 3 days ago. they will not return my phone call let alone honor my warranty. this car is not safe.*tr
