We bought a 2006 jeep grand cherokee srt-8 and the front tires had been recently replaced so we weren't too concerned but when i did an oil change on sunday i noticed the right front tires tread was separating from the rest of the tire. this is our family vehicle so because i was worried about something happening to the tire and perhaps us we have not been able to use the vehicle. i ordered a new set of tires and will get them installed this weekend. i am keeping the old tires for proof of the damage.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. the vehicle has goodyear eagle tires, size 255/45/r20. every 20,000 miles, the sidewall on the tires fail. the contact must pay $400 to replace each tire. the dealer advised him to call the manufacturer of the tires. he was also informed that consumer reports mentioned failures with his brand of tires. the manufacturer stated that because they have not received a high frequency of complaints, they would not assume any responsibility for the repairs. the contact has replaced two identical sets of this brand. he still has possession of the tires. the failure mileage was 20,000 and current mileage was 50,000.

I own a both 2006 and a 2007 jeep grand cherokee srt-on the 2007 model, the front left tire failed from tread separation during early october (tires were not very worn) - i had all four tires replaced. unfortunately, the front left tire on my 2006 jeep failed yesterday (11/30/2008) with approximately 29,000 miles on the odometer. in this most recent failure, about 2 inches of tread on the inner side separated and came completely off the tire. i have thus had identical tire failures on two separate vehicles equipped with the same oem (goodyear) tires. in both cases, apparent tread wear was not high. *tr

2006 jeep grand cherokee make a grinding noise while turning. consumer states that the mechanic could find nothing wrong with the vehicle. when noise occurred again it also made the entire front panel flash. *kb the dealer informed the consumer the tires had been rotated and the griding noise should cease. the consumer was told the transmission was leaking, so the dealer replaced the o-ring and a bushing. *jb

I received a letter in the mail from goodyear tire & rubber company called a customer satisfaction program. it concerns the eagle rsa emt (run flat) tires that were installed on my 2006 jeep. i called the consumer relations number listed on the letter and they directed me to a local dealer. the dealer told me the tires can separate inside and basically come apart! the dealer has to take them off the rims and inspect the inside of the tire and then determine if it's good or bad. if it's bad they will replace that tire, but only if they think it's bad? what happens if they think it isn't bad and it comes apart later on? either this is a recall or it isn't? if it is then all the tires should be replaced! *nm

I own a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. the vehicle came new from factory with goodyear tires: wrangler sr-a 245-65r-17. my wife was driving the vehicle in the highway and one of the rear tires blew out. called goodyear and explained the problem. they created a file (#860902) and referred me to the nearest tire store near my home. an inspection of the tire by the store revealed no road hazard damage. the tire was a manufacturer defect. goodyear refused to replace the tire and only offered a 56% reimbursement on the cost of the tire (not labor or installation). the jeep was purchased new in january 2006 and only had 13,000 miles with 30% tread wear. decided to purchase the replacement tire from www.tirerack.com. mailed the invoice to goodyear today. hope to receive a refund soon. still am very disappointed they won't refund 100% of the cost of the tire. in addition, also worrying if the remaining tires on the car will follow the same pattern and blow up. the blown-up tire revealed 7 doughnut shaped holes on the side. *nm

The valve stem on a jeep 2006 tire sensor valvestem broke off causing the tire to prematurely lose air that can cause similiar problem like with ford explorer tires blowing out. it can cause injury if person is in front of it to add air into tire. dealer stated number of problems with the piece corroding at the cap area. dealer stated having problem with recent year vehicles as well. no recall but dealer stated over 10,000 units backordered due to same issue. my car is a jeep grand cherokee, 2006, vin 1j4hr58n86c361905.
