When i first bought the car used in 2002 i noticed a quick flash of my lights at night on/off/on while driving. thought i was imagining at the time. it would system shut down only at stops and very infrequent. i drive it daily and now it happens 3-6 times a week with no warning. total system shut down. engine stalls and all gauges are off. loss of brakes and power steering. it has always started back up. at stop lights, on the road at high speed, it used to happen only at stop lights but now it happens anywhere and much more frequent. very scary.

My brother had to drive my vehicle in an emergency case. on the way to return the vehicke to me he crashed the jeep into a telephone pole the vehicle was really damaged although with the impact the police said that the air bags should have come out but didn't at the time i couldn't afford another vehicle the car dealership would not give me another car instead they fixed the same jeep and wanted me to continue paying on it until i was complete. i am still driving the vehicle i am really feeling unsafe in this vehicle with me and my two kids.

Erratic, intermittent instrumentation failures over the past three years starting with the airbag light going on and off, a malfunctioning odometer and culminating in the recent failure of the speedometer. i suspect this is caused by a defective electrical connector as noted in company service bulletin #081599. i have not been able to obtain this info from either chrysler or the jeep dealership. clearly this is a defective part and should be recalled by chrysler as it is a safety hazard. please refer to nhtsa complaints # 10025741, 896900, 723322, 10026823... in addition, my front passenger window crashed inside the door while driving. this was due to the plastic clip breaking in the window regulator that has since been redesigned. i have already had to replace the driver side window at the cost of several hundred dollars about a year ago for the exact same problem. clearly this is a defective part and is not due to normal wear and tear and should be recalled by chrysler as it is a safety hazard. in addition, my interior rear view mirror fell off my windshield into my lap while driving on the expressway in 2000. was told the glue lost adhesion due to exposure to direct sunlight. it was fixed by dealer after i purchased a mirror repair kit. clearly this is bad design and an enormous safety hazard. i am presently driving my jeep in a downtown metro area with three windows and a non- working speedometer until i can afford to get problems repaired. *nm

Experiencing problems with the drivers side door lock. it makes a loud buzzing sound when unlocking using the remote or manually. the door will unlock but won't lock. alarm will sound even if door is unlocked when opened and remote has been used to lock all other doors. i have also had to have the front rotors and brake pads replaced twice in the last year. *jb
