ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

My 2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo has been shutting off while i am driving and also sometimes it doesn't start properly. my mechanic doesn't know what is wrong with it. this is the second time he is looking at it. this has been going on for approximately three months. what really concerns me though is that it is just shutting off while i am driving. this defect may cause a serious accident while i am in traffic. i am scared to drive it cause it is happening everytime i drive it now. i did find out on the internet that there are other complaints out there and that the problem might be the front control module. i have called chrysler to find out if that is really the problem. no one knows anything about this complaint at chrysler. i just want answers so that i can get it fixed. i am really worried that i will be in an accident. *tr
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - COOLING SYSTEM

The low coolant light comes on and depending on the outside temperate the vehicle will either overheat, have no heat or provide a/c cooling only while driving and not while sitting idle. i've had repairs and coolant flushes. the repairs last one week and then the low coolant light comes on again and the issues start all over again. *tr

Multiple failures with my 2001 jeep grand cherokee just beyond the 3/36 warranty. the vehicle now has 55,000 miles: 1. vehicle required a complete front brake overhaul: new pads, rotors, calipers. also, . hood props failed; 3. water pump failed, window regulator failed, and rear hatch props beginning to fail these incidents all occurred between 36,000 and 55,000 miles (2004-2005). eep takes no responsibility for anything beyond 36,000 miles. they offer extremely poor customer service at the corporate office. i strongly recommed against purchasing jeep products.*ak
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - COOLING SYSTEM - FAN

Jeep heating , took vehicle to the mechanic, and he said that the cooling fan was broken/frozen. the mechanic said there was a recall on jeep cooling fans for my year of jeep. i called the local dealer plus daimler-chrysler, but they said the recall was for 4.1l engines and my engine was a 4.7l. obviously, chryssler/daimler has a problem with the cooling fans on these jeeps, but i didn't understand why my jeep wasn't included in the recall. the mechanic had the nhtsa recall bullentin. because of the heating problem, along with a safety issue, we had to pay to have the repair work done, $1206.86. the part alone was over $900.00 - the old part was currently available.*ak

Engine over-heats when vehicle is sitting still and idling. the fan doesn't start when the temperature rises. this leads to excessive heat buildup and possible engine damage. the fan motor is being replaced for the second time and the control module for the third time. i have been told that the fan motor is drawing too much amperage. this is the third time this has happened in the past year. *nm
