2001, jeep grand cherokee larado, blend door failures of heater system. failure resulted in no heat or defrost situation during inclement weather forcing driver to stop along motorway. vehicle inspected and discovered the heater system blend doors failed. not sure when the passenger side failed, however the driver side resulted in the vehicle now not being driven during inclement weather. repair quotes have been extensive and beyond for what appears to be serious and widespread safety issue with jeeps utilizing this heating system at this time vehicle is not driven during inclement weather as repairs are too expensive for me to absorb at this time. failure to defrost windshield leads to a serious drivable problem from fogging windows.*cn

The dual climate control is no longer working causing problems on fogging up windows in particular weather making it very difficult to drive. from my understanding this is a common problem on the car and cost over $1000 to fix the blend doors... not sure what blend doors are... but apparently they are broken. *tr

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee limited, at approximately 58,000 miles the hvac system won't direct the air to the correct area when asked to do so. when taken to the dealer they tell me it will cost $1,500 to repair. from what i understand this is a very common situation with these vehicles. i live in central ohio and it get very cold in the winter and when you can't get heat to come out of the floor or dash vents or the defroster to keep the window clear while driving it becomes a safety hazard. i'll put the date down when it started happening and it hasn't been resolved since. *tr

My heater in my 2001 jeep grand cherokee limited has been supposedly fixed 5x and it has never operated properly. first no air at all would come thru the vents then it blew only cold air out no matter what the setting was and now it won't blow heat out. mechanics are puzzled as to why it wont operate properly some say its the sensor some say its the thermostat or the computer chip hasnt reset itself. they keep trying to fix it yet it has never ran properly with the dual climate control. i am passed my warranty coverage date. i do not feel i should have to keep dishing out money time and again for the same thing. with as many times it has supposedly been fixed it should be all new parts in there for the heat/ac components to work!!! *tr

Visibility:power window divices and controls 2001 jeep grande cherokee. between spring 2006 passenger side window dropped during the night leaving my car open and exposed to weather. window would not go up and since we were out of town we had to duct tape all around to drive 300 miles home. $450 to repair. 4 months later went for a swim and when i returned to my car the driver side window had dropped and would not go up. car has ~70,000 miles and thought this to be quite unusual so did some research on the web and found out that this is a frequent occurrence with this model. one gentleman had received reimbursement from chrysler so i thought i would give it a try. after several hours on the phone with chrysler they agreed to reimburse so i mailed in both receipts equally ~$800 minus a $50 deductible. they called and told me that they had agreed to only pay for the most recent. i guess i should be thankful that i got something but i am not. if they acknowledge that this is a frequent occurrence why would they only pay for the one. i am just waiting for the next to drop. there should be automatic reimbursement for this repair on this model. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated the window regulator was mounted into the frame with a plastic part that failed on four separate occasions. the manufacturer authorized the service dealer to replace the defective part on the front left window. the plastic part had failed on the left rear window, front right window and a second time on the front left window.

Multiple failures with my 2001 jeep grand cherokee just beyond the 3/36 warranty. the vehicle now has 55,000 miles: 1. vehicle required a complete front brake overhaul: new pads, rotors, calipers. also, . hood props failed; 3. water pump failed, window regulator failed, and rear hatch props beginning to fail these incidents all occurred between 36,000 and 55,000 miles (2004-2005). eep takes no responsibility for anything beyond 36,000 miles. they offer extremely poor customer service at the corporate office. i strongly recommed against purchasing jeep products.*ak
