The power window mechanisms in my jeep 2002 liberty are failing and it is documented online that this is a universal problem for all libertys. driver's side window mechanism has failed and right rear window has now failed. this is a huge safety issue and i'm wondering why there has not been a recall????

I have a 2002 jeep liberty and i have to replace a window regulator for the 5th time. every in every instance it has been the rear windows. in one instance i was driving down the highway and the window came down. i have two children in car seats and the last thing i need is for them to throw something out or for something to happen to them b/c the regulator failed while i'm driving down the hwy. other times it was parked in the driveway and when i looked out of my house the rear window was down again. the regulators were just replaced on 6-06-10 and now it is 08-26-10. the new regulator didn't last very long, huh. after all of the problems that i 've had with this jeep i will never buy another one!! i have noticed on different online forums that this seems to be a very common problem for thousands of jeep owners. for some reason nobody seems to be addressing this situation. we spend lots of money on vehicles and for their upkeep! the least jeep can do is fix the problem or they may have a bigger problem ahead when everyone decides to stop purchasing jeeps. since i have already decided to do that guess that's one consumer down the drain for jeep! oh, the other thing....i live in tx and it was 107 degrees the other day....would you want to have a problem with your window in this heat....renders the ac virtually useless! i don't need or want my children sitting in a hot vehicle and risk potential heat associated problems b/b of a crappy product! if it occurs at home then i duct tape it before i leave.

My 2002 jeep liberty limited's ignition will not turn with the key in place. first occurrence, i was able to jiggle the key and get it to finally turn to start, 2nd time it took me bout 10 mins of jiggling the key and it finally turned and started. 3rd time, same situation. now the 4th time and it's sitting in our garage, will not turn to start.

I have a 2002 jeep liberty that i have had for four years. i have had to replace the regulator in the back windows 3 times. jeep is refusing to acknowledge that doing this 3x's is even an issue. also, my jeep dealer will not return my calls when i call to schedule an appointment to get the already recalled items fixed. *tr

Dt: the contact stated they have two defective seat belts. after they had their vehicle for one month, the passenger back seat belt became defective. the second seat belt which is the drivers seat seat belt became defective last tuesday. they had no problem putting it on, but became trapped and could not disconnect their seat belt when trying to get out of their vehicle. the contacts coworkers had to get her out with a swiss army knife and wd40. no further damage done to seat belt. a mechanic said this was caused by a weak spring. they have been using this seat belt since, but it is not operating functionally. seat belts are free of dirt and contaminents. no pictures available. the contact also stated that their radio became defective about two months ago. the radio took the juice out of the battery causing battery to die.

Air conditioner/compressor was falling, causing the serpentine belt to burn, and also not allow the alternator to recharge the battery. finally, the a/c unit completely seized. and the car was immobilized. the dealer had been almost exclusively been doing oil changes and 23 point inspections since buying the vehicle. they somehow conveniently missed this one which could have caused a fire. in any event, a vehicle less than 5 years old should not be a fire hazard nor lose it's ac to seizing! *jb

While driving at any speed consumer heard a loud noise coming from the rear and vehicle vibrated. vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the rear coil springs needed to be replaced due to worn out parts. *ak the brakes made noise when applied. the blower motor for the heat failed and the a/c was inoperative. *nm

Ltr in regards to the recall services on her 2002 jeep liberty; she is seeking reimbursement and recommendations on how to resolve repairs done to her vehicle. *kb the consumer stated the vehicle has a bad vibration when coming to a stop. the consumer was told the tires needed to be balanced and rotated, however the consumer continued to feel the vibration after the work was done. the consumer was informed the brakes and rotors had rusted. the wiper blades were replaced. the drivers side speaker was making a rattling noise. *jb

Ltr re recalls on her daimler chrysler purchased back in august 13, 2001. *kb the consumer stated the vehicle has been recalled more than 3 times and supposedly fixed over 6 times regarding the ball joints. the consumer had an accident. the ball joint broke while the consumer was attempting to park. the radiator was leaking at the seam. the right front hub bearing was noisy. the cd changer would skip after a few songs. the dealer found an internal fault. there was a heavy crunchy noise when driving, stopping and making turns. the front stabilizer/sway bar was replaced. the rack and pinion was leaking. *jb

I have had my jeep at the dealers 3 times regarding an insanely loud feedback that comes from my stereo and speakers with no warning. the radio has been replaced twice and it still happens. the dealership seems dumbfounded. it will happen with no warning and is incredibly startling. it about caused me to wreck the first time it happened. it is sparatic but once it happens it will continue to happen ffor an undetermined amount of time after that. once the radio is turned off, you may then come back an hour later an it may be fine for a few days, but then all of a sudden it happens again. may be a ground electrical problem but dealership can't find it! still happening...someone help!!!!! also corrosion on my wheels. only has 20k miles. not good...other than these problems...i truly enjoy the vehicle.*ak

The factory jack was unable to hold the vehicle's weight. this resulted in the vehicle crashing down while a good samaritan was changing the front tire. the dealership indicated this only occurred when the vehicle was at an angle and not leveled. *jb it had taken two jacks to hold the vehicle safely while changing the tires. *sc *jb

Jack does not extend to height necessary to raise flat tire off ground or allow replacement spare tire to be installed. on first occasion, i had to obtain a 2x4 piece of wood to raise vehicle to proper height in my garage, but was fearful of stability of auto. on second occasion after church on 8-25-02, i extended jack to full height, could not remove flat, went for something to raise it higher then jack would not retract. had to borrow a scissor jack from a passing motorist. the jack would be completely useless in any adverse road surface. need to require a more substantial jack that would be suitable for raising vehicle while remaining stable to avoid injury. i pity any mom who gets a flat with a child on board and no cell phone to call for help!*ak

I had the pleasure of having a flat. in changing the flat i folllowed the directions and raise the vehicle to remove the flat. when i attempted to raise the vehicle higher to put on the spare, which is full size, i could not raise the liberty high enough. as i looked at the jack as i was turning the handle, i could see that the position within the jack stand was no moving higher, i had reached the maximum height. this was a mojor problem. how to raise the vehicle high enough to get the new tire on. the only choise i had was to find something to put under the jack. i needed at least 3 to 4 inches to raise the jack up so the i could raise the vehicle by the same amount. i was able to find a tree branch which i placed under the jack. this was happening on a interstate highway. after putting the branch under the jack i was able to raise the vehicle up high enough to put on the spare. the problem is that the piston within the jack will only to up high enough to take a flat tire off, but not high enough to put a spare tire on. the piston is to short by about 3 to 4 inches. i feel that there is a real safety issue here. putting a tree branch under the jack is not how one changes a tire. as i was raising the vehicle i thought if the weight if the liberty crushed the branch i was going to have a lot more problems. how i was never going to be able to get the jack in the right position. or even worse was what would happen if i have myself under the vehicle in someway and the branch came apart, that was going to hurt. what jeep needs to do is re-design the jack. the stand either has to be taller or the pistion has to be longer to get the vehicle high enough to be able to put the spare. as a side note please make the commet section bigger. trying to type in current manner is not easy. it would make it so much better to see all the text as one is typing. thank you. *ak
