While driving at freeway speed, the passenger rear window slid down into the door. the cheap plastic lift plate that is part of the window regulator broke. it has been replaced twice now and just broke again. with the window down in the door the vehicle is vulnerable to break-in and damage from the weather. it is a safety issue for me because my child's carseat is in this location.

While driving i activated the cruise control at 57 mph. the jeep kept accelerating. the speedometer read 50 mph. i tapped the brake to disengage the cruise control and the speedometer jumped up to 70 mph. i did this a second time with the same results. i've had this vehicle a year and may have had this happen one other time. i got a ticket for going 68 mph when i thought i was going 50 mph. i got a $110.00 fine. i cannot recall if the cruise control was activated at that time. i owned the vehicle for a few weeks then.

I was driving home and noticed my window for no reason fell down. the jeep was bought new by us in 2002. the back seats or windows have been rarely used. we use air and heat, so with the exception of the driver's window, we have hardly rolled down the other windows. i did research about the falling down on the jeep windows. i learned chrysler knew since 2002 about the defective windows. they finally recalled back some of the 2006 and 2007 jeeps. i called them and they do not seem concerned about the danger this could cause. i feel because of the little use of the window is why we have not had the problems several have had. they then proceed to charge you $500. to repair the window with the same kind of part that will break again. this has happened to several people. i asked chrysler about this part, they confess just recently they have changed the part to work. i see the danger this could be if hauling a young child. even though a child is to be in a child seat, they sometimes can get out. if driving down the road and the window just drops, a child could fall out. in a wreck this could endanger anyone. all the windows in the jeep have a problem of breaking for no reason, but mostly the back windows. chrysler is aware of this and should have recalled all these windows. they are bleeding the jeep owners by having to continue to repair the defective windows and are endangering people's life. they should be made accountable for the defective parts that they knew they had and continued to use.

I have had to replace the power window regulators on the back windows of my jeep liberty 2002 on 5 different occasions. i have barely used these windows and this has been a hemorrhage of money. the first time this happened, they informed me at the dealership that i was over the date of warranty, and that my mileage also exceeded the limit. i had to replace the two back ones, then i had to go back and replace a third one, less than a year after that. the fourth and fifth time it happened, i went to an independent shop as going to the dealership was too expensive, now the window does not work again. the windows just fall, and water and debris come into the car. among jeep liberty owners, this is a very common problem, and one that there should have been a recall on. i want to place a complaint because this car came defective and nothing has been done so far to assist people who purchased it. customers need protection on this matter.

There have been five instances of failure of the regulators for the rear door power windows. in this latest incident, the cable for the windows snapped and came throught the door lock area in the jamb on the rear driver side.

Faulty rear window regulators. to date have had the right and left rear window regulators replaced six times. 7/2006 right regulator, 6/2007 left regulator, 7/2007 right regulator, 9/2008 right and left regulator, 8/2010 left regulator. it is 2011 and they are both now broke again and are now being held up with tape. i continue to pay out of pocket to have them replaced as chrysler continues to make me pay a co-pay which in the past has been $150. i refuse now to pay to replace them anymore and believe chrysler has a duty to make a permanent fix for the regulators.

I was driving my 2002 jeep liberty and was raising the windows up and the window of the back passenger side fell into the door. these are electronic windows. i was lucky that none of my children were hurt. luckily, the window did not break and i was able to open the door. this is the third time that this has happened in my car. i feel there is a faulty part that jeep does not want to address. it is a plastic part in the window regulator. it cost me $400 dollars the first time to replace the part. the second one jeep replaced for free. i just got off the phone and jeep does not feel responsible for replacing it again. i am not sure if i want to get it replaced again or just fine some way to keep the window up. i am very frustrated because i do not want to replace it with a part that will just break again.

Rear back passenger window was fixed(regulator) 2 yrs. ago.now same problem has reoccured, i called the jeep recall number and they tell me there is no recall for the 2002 jeep liberty, i think that is negligence on their part as a auto company not respecting that this is a widespread problem, i am 1 out of thousands of people with the same exact problem. with the window going down at any given time it poses a problem for the glass to shatter creating a problem for whomever is in the back seat. i am very upset that the dealership won't acknowledge this problem, i need them to understand it is a mechanical fault of theirs.

I bought a 2002 jeep liberty sport in august 2001. i still own it and over the years there has been a consistently recurring problem with the operators on the door windows breaking or failing causing the window glass to fall inside the door. this has occurred on my vehicle at least once a year (to different windows) and each time the repair is to replace the window operator at a cost of almost $300 for the part and and equal amount for labor, etc. the failure is apparently a plastic clip that breaks or loses its grip on the glass but the dealers say they must replace the whole operator. i note from the internet that many other jeep liberty owners report the same defect. why can't chrysler/jeep come up with a permanent fix for this problem.? it is a chronic defect and a potential safety hazard if there are children in the vehicle.

I am experiencing a rattling sound when driving uphill or downhill through driveway, traveling 5-20 miles an hour. i took my jeep 2002 liberty 2wd to get serviced and received recommended repairs: prosteer control arm with ball joint upper center, remove and install propeller shaft to replace universal joints on both ends, rear wheel bearings, tail pipe is welded to muffler, muffler does not meet design specifications and should be replaced due to exhaust leak as well, remove rack and pinion, complete rack as does not meet design specifications and is leaking. i was driving about 25 mph and my rear right side tire was smoking profusely. i pulled over and noticed the gray smoke from my tire. i took the car to check the rear breaks. they were fine but was told that i had a leak from the exhaust pipe which dripped on to that area. the car has 75,806 miles. i was told that i could loose control of vehicle and entire area can collapse during traffic due to these issues. aside from these issues, i am experiencing a whistling sound, problems with rear drivers side passenger power window regulator which produces grind-like sound. the window came off and i was told that i needed a new regulator for the window. i'm also experiencing a red stain in engine oil drippage on ground. finally, strange odor from car -odor continues to be present whether i wash the carpets and seats (smells like mold/mildew or skunk).

Jeep liberty 2002, ignition problems. key goes into ignition but will not move backwards or forward, steering is locked as well. occurs a couple times a year so far, usually by fiddling with it after 15 minutes i can get it started up. not this time, the key won't budge either way and my car won't start.

2002 jeep liberty renegade right rear window regulator broke for the 2nd time in 3 years. window stuck down and regulator worm cable caused damage to door latch preventing door from opening from the inside.

2002 jeep liberty window rear driver side falling down and will not come back up. have replaced the regulator in 2007 and 2009. now i will have to replace again. this is a defect and safety issue. someone can get right into your car if you can not get this fixed right away. i have also had to replace the rear passenger window regulator in 2008. i have seen numerous complaints about this on the internet. this has been going on for several years with the liberty. chrysler should fix this for free and not make the customer pay for a defect. does someone have to get killed in a robbery or something before this issue is fixed.

Jeep liberty. rear windows regulators continue to fail. the windows just fall into the door well while not in use. i rarely open those windows and they just fall out. i have now replaced them four times in the past three years. the dealer states there is no recall on this defect. there is certainly a defective part as i have read over and over of this situation occuring with all makes of the jeep liberty.

On dec 8, 2008 i picked up my jeep liberty from my mechanic, he had replaced the transmission oil pan that rusted out and drained all the transmission oil out. on january 6, 2009 on my way to work early in the morning the transmission blew out totally, i was able to get back home and once again the mechanic has the liberty replacing the transmission. i feel the transmission oil pan rusting out and leaking caused the transmission blowout a month later. the check engine light did come on in december and i had an appointment to have the engine looked at when the whole pan blew out. the transmission totally dropping in january could have caused a major accident if i were driving later, and i feel this could cause major accidents on the roadways across the nation. i have complained via the webpage at jeep to no avail, this should be at least a recall on these vehicles. *tr
