Vehicle indicated that passenger front door was ajar, this after ten minutes of driving. door was in fact not ajar. passenger opened and closed door just to check, door then would no longer fully close. pulled manual lock to see if it was stuck, whole piece came out. smoke started pouring out of hole and door metal was very hot to the touch. removed door panel to put out fire inside. lock actuator motor melted down and parts were smoldering. during this process the electronic back glass popped open as well and will no longer latch either. chrysler recalled some 2004 liberty's for these motors overheating and seizing, was informed that this vehicle was not included and that we should have 'maintained the wiring in the door'. this vehicle is meticulously maintained! *tr

2004 jeep liberty, rear driver side electric window drops down into door, jams door lock, runs down battery-all due to a tiny plastic part breaking repeatedly.i paid to have this fixed in 10/15/08 ($205),read on internet all jeep owners all models with electric windows having same problem.so, did not use window or door ever since.same clip broke and was replaced under warranty 9/18/09.still don't use door or window.same clip broke again 10/25/10.no longer under warranty so dealer won't repair.called jeep corporate.they refuse to even consider working with me or explaining what they will do until i get an official diagnosis from a jeep dealer which will cost me $94.50 to get.only then will they even talk to me about this problem. everyone is having this problem.a tiny plastic clip into which the fuzzy cable connects gets worn over time and breaks.no rocket science there, take a thin piece of plastic and put metal against it and even if not used will vibrate if you drive the car and it will break.costing jeep owners big time.first time it stranded my daughter in the middle of the night, jamming the door and running down the battery as electric window kept trying to engage. now it is sitting in my yard, cannot secure my car as windows is down inside door, and have plastic over window to keep out the rain.this is ridiculous.case # now with jeep is 20078209,case manager casey, 1-800-763-8422 but like i said, until i'm willing to pay $94.50 for official diagnosis of a broken ten cent part, they won't tell me if they will work with me at all or to what extent.only that without the diagnosis, nothing can be done further.first time it broke, sitting in driveway.second time i pulled up in parking lot and exited front door when window in rear door crashed down inside, i hadn't even touched the door. this time broke in parking lot, no one in car. window just falls down into door. costing jeep owners big time, you have to change entire window regulator, jeep won't sell clip.

My 2004 jeep liberty continues to have problems with the door regulator. this is the fourth time it has happened and chrysler will not recall the defective part. the glass on the door will slide down, and the window will not operate. this has happened twice on the highway and it is very dangerous. the repair cost is approx $500 each time this has happened. it keeps happening to the windows that i have even gotten repaired already. the dealer stated that it was a defective part, they changed the part and now they are going back to the original as that one was no better. so even though i am getting the windows repaired, it continues to happen to all three of the windows. there is only one that it hasn't happen to.

While driving through congested traffic on the highway, the rear window of my 2004 jeep liberty made a grinding noise and unexpectedly fell down inside of the door, my dog nearly fell out and i nearly caused an accident while pulling over to safety. my family and i had to drive 45 minutes in the rain with no rear window. i have since learned this is a very common problem with power windows in the jeep liberty years 2002-2006 and there is even a company that stays in business selling replacement parts specifically for this problem (http://www.steigerperformance.com/products/sp13001.html)

Jeep liberty window regulator breaks allowing window to fall down into door and remain inoperative until fixed. we own a 2004 liberty and have now had 12 regulators repaired/replaced over 6 years because of some executive decision to cut cost with a plastic part vs steel. been caught in monsoon with broken window, 100+ degree temperatures with broken window. this can happen at any time/mileage, moving or stationary, using or not using windows.

While recently driving my 2004 jeep liberty, my 10-year old daughter in the backseat began to lower the rear window using the power window button. at a certain point, i heard a loud grinding noise. upon stopping, i noted that the window had failed in the lowered position and would not move with further manipulation of the power window button. however, i also noted that the rear passenger door would not open and was jammed shut. i was unable to open the door from either the inside or outside of the vehicle. upon taking the vehicle home and removing the door panel, i noted that the window regulator

Vehicle has automatic door locks that lock would lock when the vehicle's speed reached 15 mph, now not working. *bf the vehicle's keyless entry syste was working prior to the consumer taking the vehicle to the dealer. the consumer received a recall notice referencing the vehicle's remote keyless entry system. an appointment was made and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for service. after the vehicle was serviced none of the locks would work. upon further inspection the consumer realized that the swing gate was the only lock that was working properly. the dealer was not able to permanently repair the vehicle. *nm
