Since this car was purchased it has given us problems with the power windows. we replaced on which in less that three months it was broken again. this was very expensive at this time all four windows are broken. i have to put wood in the doors to keep glass from falling. none of the windows can be opened and no sense in fixing due to the cost and they break down again.

Joining in the large numbers of jeep liberty owners, i purchased this vehicle january 2012 with approx. 86000 miles. the driver's side passenger window was already inoperable during negotiations and dealer repaired. within months, the driver's window failed with the same problem, which has been a thorn in the side of many who own(ed) this model - weak plastic part involved in the window motor, causing the glass to fall into the door and difficult, costly repairs. chrysler has not been made to help the consumer in the history of this wide-spread issue. please consider action? the cost to repair each window is not inexpensive.

Rear passenger window fell partially down & won't go back up. motor makes noise but window doesn't go up. research on internet indicates window regulator/motor small plastic piece problem well documented. jeep needs to recall & fix all windows.

The window regulator has failed in the window. this is a well known problem. just sitting at a light and the window falls down because of a small plastic peice that holds the window up breaks.

Window falls into door & cannot be closed. this has happened multiple times on different windows.
06/23/201270000
Rear driver side window slipped down inside the door. unable to secure the vehicle. on 07/01/2012 front driver side window slipped down inside the door. again, vehicle was parked and unsecured. these parts are expensive in addition to the labor cost to have the repairs made. inability to secure the vehicle is a safety issue and weather conditions could cause additional damage to the vehicle. note - during the first few months i owned the vehicle in 2004, the driver side window regulator motor failed and was replaced by the dealership.

Rear driver's side window fell into door. could not get it back up. window is now held in by zip ties. 6/23/2012 front passenger power door lock stopped working. purchased vehicle used in june 2007, rear passenger power door lock not working at that time. occaisionally vehicle will stall and restart while driving.

The windows in the jeep fail anytime and generally starting under 50,000 miles. what happens is the window will roll down, but then you will not be able to get it back up and it stays down, even manually raising it, it will still fall down. chrysler is aware of the problem and has made a repair kit for the windows. the problem is to have someone repair the windows it costs $300-$400 per window. i have had my driver side window fail, the driver side back window fail and the passenger side front window fail all within a 3 year time frame. chrysler recalled this problem on the 2007-2008 jeep liberty and after reading multiple message boards, this is a huge issue with the 2004-2005 models as well. several people have had multiple repairs on the same window. 3 out of 4 failed windows is unacceptable.

From march 5 2004, 2 months after purchase of brand new jeep liberty the windows have fallen down a total of 14 times. after the warranty expired i have had to pay a total of over $780. for repair. i am 76 & on social security. the back window has fallen again 2 days ago & i can't afford to have it fixed

While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph the passenger side front window fell into the door. the window regulator was what went wrong. did alot of looking on the internet regarding this and found that it is a common problem with jeeps. i did not know how common until driving in 20 degree weather last week and the drivers side rear window did the same thing. i have contacted chrysler about this and was informed that it is not covered under any recall. so i now have two windows braced in the up position with 2x4's and a total loss of respect for a company that i have supported by owning their products for well over 20 years.

2004 jeep liberty window regulators. replaced left rear window regular ($450) in 2009. replaced left rear window regulator in july, 2010 at cost of $96 (goodwill warranty). right rear window regulator needs to be replaced but hasn't because of cost. now front left window regulator has to be replaced for $350. this causes hardships in inclement weather conditions while driving the windows get stuck or fall down while driving causing distractions as well as financially having to pay labor and parts costs each repeat time.

I recently noticed abnormal tire wear (insides balding) on my front tires so i replaced the tires and took the vehicle for an alignment. before the repair shop would do the alignment on the vehicle the checked the components to be sure that the was no other problems. they found that the lower and upper ball joints were bad on both sides and stated that it was unsafe to drive. i imediately contacted my local jeep dealer to inquire about the repairs and to check for recalls. they advised me that there was a recall on the lower ball joints, i asked if the lower ball joints could cause the upper ball joints to go bad and they said that it could. i asked if that would be covered under the recall as well since they could have caused the upper ball joints to become bad, and i was told no that it would only cover the lower ball joints. so my complaint is that the recall should cover the upper ball joints as well because even after the repairs on the lower ball joints the vehicle is still unsafe to drive if the recalled part caused the problem to the upper portion as well.

Power window regulator failure. this is the fourth time in 2 years. this is a major problem that is very expensive to fix. the regulator fails when the car is not even in motion. the window will fail to roll up or down when the regulator fails and it makes a grinding sound when you try to roll the window up or down. this is obviously a huge problem judging by how many complaints are listed on this website. jeep needs to recall the power window regulators in these vehicles and take care of their customers. who has three hundred dollars to fix an ongoing problem two times or more a year. i am a very upset customer and i think something needs to be done about this problem.

The window regulator for the rear driver's side window has failed, leading to the window unable to roll up and loss of window control that leads the window to fall inside the door and glass to shatter.

Re: failure of passenger side power window (1) while driving to work, i attempted to roll down the passenger side door window and the window just fell down inside the door. at that point, i was unable to roll up the window. (2) the window could not be operated by the power switch and therefore, i had to remove the door panel and secure the glass with a piece of wood. (3) the failure has not been corrected at this time. while researching this problem - i have found that this is a reoccurring problem across the country with jeep liberty's and i feel that this is a great safety problem. the glass in the window is for protection and should it fall out while driving at a normal rate of speed - this could potentially cause damage to the driver, passengers or other cars on the highway. i feel like chrysler corperation should bear the costs to correct this problem and not leave it up to the owners to correct this defect in the liberty. there are pages and pages online with liberty owners who have had this same problem. just entering (jeep liberty window problems) will take you to numerous complaints about this issue. it is disheartening to still be paying on a vehicle that is like new but is falling apart. i was already involved in an accident in which the faulty ball joints just gave way. thankfully, i was not on the interstate when this happened. now this failure of the window is another recall i would like to see happen. it would be appreciated if you would make chrysler corporation stand behind their products. the jeep liberty is not a cheap vehicle to buy but it is certainly cheaply made and it is sad to wonder what is going to happen next while driving this vehicle.

My horn will not stop blowing, it woke everyone in my neighborhood up at 10pm last night, and the only way it would stop was to disconnect the battery. water seems to be leaking into my fuse box. i have taken the car to a mechanic and will see how it turns out.

I have a 2004 jeep liberty. on june 7, 2011 the passenger rear window just fell down inside the door. our extended warranty doesn't cover replacing window regulators. that cost $300 to repair. then, on june 27, 2011 the passenger front window just fell down inside the door. it is in the repair shop and it will cost another $300 to be repaired. the driver side window regulator is also about to break. when i put the window down the whole inside door panel expands and the repair shop said it's about to break. i think its a big safety hazard if my windows just fall down inside the door especially when i'm driving and have small children in the car and weather conditions. also, when the window falls inside the door it makes a loud noise which is a distraction from the driver. there needs to be a recall because my repair guy said that these regulators have to be replaced quite often at $300 a pop!!! i am not a satisfied customer what so ever.

Window regulators have been repaired 9 times on my vehicle. please contact mack massey jepp in el paso and bill luke jeeep in phoenix for details. this has been ongoing thing since 2008.

I'm working in a big city and park my car all day in a open parking lot. the left rear window of my car was open, not sure if it was open all day.. for right now im duck taping that window from the inside, nothing has been done yet waiting to order and have it fixed, part alone will cost at least $ 150.00 and then repair cost, ?????

While driving down the highway, the rear driver-side window began to open of its own accord. trying to stop the window from lowering further using the control button on the console did nothing but make a terrible grinding noise inside the door. within five miles of driving, the window glass had disappeared into the door panel. this has happened twice now. the first time was a year ago, mid-april 2010, also while driving on the highway. this year it happened to the same window again, mid-april 2011, which means the replacement parts failed, too. the wind in the car was awful, not to mention the cold! it certainly made for a noisy, freezing, and uncomfortable drive. when i arrived at my destination, i had absolutely no way to close up my car, since the window glass had disappeared into the door. i was very afraid someone would steal my car.

The first time this happened, i was driving home from work, and the passenger side, front window fell into the door. at first, i did not know what had happened, i just heard a loud bang from the side of my car - i thought that something may have hit the car. fortunately, i was only going about 35 mph when this occurred, and i was level headed enough to keep driving the car in my lane. this was on route 35 in eatontown, nj, which is a busy highway during rush hour when this incident occurred. the 2nd time this happened, the rear passenger side window fell into the door. this was in june 2010, 47,000 miles. the third time this happened, the driver side front window fell into the door. this was february 14, 2011, 50,000 miles. thank god i was not driving on the garden state parkway when these incidents occurred. i have receipts for the repairs. i just got off the phone with chrysler, and they issued an extended warranty for the 2006 and 2007 models, but not for the 2004 jeep liberty models. the rear window passenger side has not fallen into the door yet. my grandson's car seat is next to that window. i know that it is unsafe, but i am losing my job this year because of fort monmouth closing. i am now seriously thinking about getting a new car when i find a new job. the component that fails is the window regulator. it holds the window in place, and when it fails, the window falls into the door.

Normal use of the vehicle. normal use of the power windows. no bumps, accidents, rough driving, inclement conditions, rough terrain, unusual external force applied or anything that would constitute replacing the third power window regulator in approximately 2.5 years. i've fortunately only had to replace the right side of the vehicle's window regulators. both the front and the rear have gone out, the rear twice in the past 2.5 years. jeep has apparently only acknowledged the issue because of the part number revision of the part 6 times since 2004. it would be great to have this problem fixed once and for all and to have all the regulators replace by an authorized dealer with a part that can be guaranteed for the life of the vehicle.i don't want money since this hasn't cause and personal or property damage but i would not like to pay hundreds of dollars every 6-9 months to replace a part that technically should last 5 times as long as it does.

My spouse was driving on the highway when the left window fell into the door of our 2004 jeep liberty. on further research i became suprised to find hundreds of complaints about the same problem. the costs for repair are nuts and unwarented because of poor design by chrysler. how is it that the ones to pay for all the mistakes created by manufactures ends up being the consumer. we have done enough for the big corporations it is time to do something for the people. i'm going to recommend to all that i know not to purchase chrysler products.

I was driving up to kids school to park and parked and tried to take the seat belt off and it was stuck. the red release button was stuck down. i was able to get it released, but the red release button was still stuck down. i tried to re-buckle and nothing worked. i went to the dealership napletons and they said that the part was on national back order. i am still waiting.

I am a 2004 jeep liberty owner. while driving my vehicle, i attempted to lower my passenger window on a clear sunny day. my passenger side window made a loud pop and then my window fell down. it would not go back up. i finally pulled over and tugged it up in to position and got it to close. it now will not raise or close properly. i called the dealership serive department and they tell me it is the window regulator has failed. this sudden collapse of the window caused me to look immediately right to see what i thought was something hitting my vehicle. then the surprise of my window dropping while driving in traffic. this could have caused me to make a sudden driving error causing an accident as it scared me when it happened. it was a very loud pop sound ! i called the dealership service department and i was told it would be about $500.00 to fix. after researching this on the web, i see i am one of thousands with defective windows that drop for no reason in these doors of the jeep liberty. some 6-7 times. we as consumers deserve better from chrysler. if you check the service records for this problem it should stand out like a sore thumb. we desperately need a recall of for this part of the vehicle that the dealerships are willing to replace while under warranty and acknowledge there is a problem and replace the defective ones but once the warranty expires then we are on our own. the problem is in the design itself. the window regulator is causing problems that are a safety concern and hazzard. please investigate this issue with the jeep liberty. customer service is no help. they tell me to pay the repair expense (caused by the manufacturer's cheaply made product) then send in my receipt and it may get reviewed. this is a safety issue. there are too many that are having to be replaced. this is a problem. i urge someone to launch an investigation into this. this is not jeep quality that i thought i was purchasing when i paid the huge amount for this vehicle brand new.

Within months i have had all four of my window regulators break in my vehicle and all four windows fell completely into door. two of the times i was driving down the road when window fell. very expensive to repair already repaired one, now all four broke. cannot get window to go back up. my extended warranty which i paid alot of money for does not cover these expensive parts. how many complaints does it take before making this a recall.

I have a 2004 jeep liberty that i have had for about 3 years. within the last year i have now had two of the windows suddenly stop working with no warning. the first one was the driver's side backseat window. last year i was putting it down due to the heat. when i went to put it up, i could hear the motor trying to work but to no avail. after checking it out, i could actually see a long, metal cord or cable sticking out of the small hole in the door. at the time i took it to the local jeep dealership and they said it would be about $500 to fix! unfortunately, this is too much for me so i have been using doorstops to keep the window up. today, i had a similar experience with the driver's side window. this time the window would not go back up. i just spent the last hour disecting the door and prying the window back up. after looking online, this seems to be a very big problem for this car. i do feel something should be done by chrysler.

Two window regulators in my jeep liberty failed and the windows dropped. it happened during a rainstorm and i nearly drove off the road into a ditch because of it. someone is going to die because of this. the windows just dropped. i had to put a permanent support in place to prevent the window from falling. it

Window regulator in three of the windows failed while driving. no way to put up the window while driving. no way to secure the vehicle when parked. no way to keep rain and snow from coming in the window until it was repaired. we replaced the window regulators with ones from a salvage yard. we kept old parts.

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 jeep liberty. while driving approximately 15 mph uphill in rainy weather conditions, the vehicle pulled excessively to the right without assistance. the vehicle then fishtailed uncontrollably across the road into a ditch. there were no warnings or injuries. the vehicle sustained damages. the failure recurred on a separate occasion. the rear passenger side tire was damaged and replaced. the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 35,000 and current mileage was 42,000.
