 Since buying my 2005 jeep liberty new 6 years ago...i have had to replace the mechanism that keeps the windows up eight times. out of that 8 times, jeep has made me pay for 4 of them! obviously a defective part...shame on jeep!

 The driver side rear window failed and the window and the unlocking mechanism will not operate. when this failure occurs, the window will not raise and the door will not unlock. the replacement parts are the same as the original parts. the rear sided window and locking mechinism (regulator) has failed. the dealership told us that this is a known problem (defect) with these jeep liberties. it is just a matter of time until they fail again. these rear windows are not used very often, so we do not know when the next failure will occur. we have one year left on the extended warranty, but if an improved part is not used for the repairs, it will fail again

 2005 jeep liberty shift head button broken (50,000 mi) shift is moved by small force because shift botton is stuck in pushed position not comming bck to locking position so it dangerous gearshift change to different position unexpectly by little force while driving.

 The height adjustment on the steering column unlocks and releases often with no warning. i find the lock bar dropped down and fully released. when resetting it is not firmly held in place. it is a real challenge to control a steering wheel that moves up and down. *tr

 Tl*the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. while driving 30 mph, the contact discovered that the rear driver's side window would not roll down. he was also unable to unlock the door. the dealer stated that the failure was a common defect in the jeep liberty, and the window failure caused the door lock to fail. the dealer charged $360 for the repair. in december of 2007, the rear driver's side window failed again. in march of 2008, the rear passenger side window failed. a report was filed with the manufacturer and they recommended that the vehicle be returned to the dealer for a diagnosis. instead, the contact took the vehicle to a garage and the mechanic stated that the motor was defective. the failure mileage was 37,000 and current mileage was 59,398. updated 03-06-09 *bf the dealer replaced the regulator. updated 03/10/09.*jb

 Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the power windows would fail intermittently. the rear and front passenger's side windows were off track and falling into the door panel. also, the front and rear driver's side door handle had broken off completely. the vehicle was taken to her local dealer where the window regulator and the door handles and panel were repaired under extended warranty. on a later date, the front driver's side window would operate intermittently and was slow to return to the closed position. also, both the rear driver and passenger's side windows were dropping back into the door panel. the vehicle was taken to a local service shop where they advised the window regulator was faulty in design and referred her to her local dealer. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where she was awaiting repairs. there were no recalls on the vehicle. the failure mileage was under 36,000 and the current just under 59,000.

 Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated that she has been having issues with her windows rolling up and down. her door handles have been falling off as well. the contact stated they had taken the vehicle into the dealer for the problems to be repaired but nothing had been repaired.the contact stated her grandchildren have to ride in this vehicle and she does not feel as if it is safe. the general manager had not yet looked at the vehicle but is stating that they will not repair the door handles because the contact has abused the door handles. the failure mileage 40,000 and the current mileage was 59,000. the vin was not available.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the front and rear driver side doors no longer lock automatically when the vehicle is placed into drive. the other doors lock as normal. the dealer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and the repair would be her responsibility. the purchase date was unknown. the current mileage was 69,500 and failure mileage was 68,900.
