Since we bought the liberty we have had a total of 12 incidents where the windows have fallen down and left the vehicle vulnerable to the elements and on two occasions personal property has been taken from inside the vehicle in shopping center parking lots. chrysler sold us an extented warranty which will cover the repairs but there is a $100 deductable every time the vehicle goes in. jeep makes a joke out of it when they see me come in by saying what, another window ? and then laughing and saying this is getting to be a routine, this is true and i know all of the people there because i sold chrysler/ jeep / dodge for 5 years so i just laugh with them but it really makes me mad that jeep won't fix and issue that is so obvious and so many people have problems with. this is a safety issue since my wife drives this car to work and when she goes to the car after work she has to check and see if anyone is inside the vehicle before she gets in and when she is driving the car on the freeway if the window falls down it startles her and she has almost had an accident twice over the front windows falling. i now have two windows being held up by coat hangers stuffed in the window track so the inside doesn't get wet or the car sit outside with windows wide open. someone needs to nip this in the bud and get the chrysler corporation to step up and fix these vehicles before they hurt someone.

The rear window on the driver's side fell down for no reason. i pressed the switch it did not move. i pulled it up by hand but it would fall right down. i took it to the jeep dealer thinking it would be under warranty but they charged me. two years later it happened again on the same window. i paid for it again. since, they fixed it last time they scratched the glass and i cannot open the door from the inside. i am single and 99.9% of the time i am the only one in the car. the window does not even get used and it fails. the window was not used once since the second replacement and it has failed again for a third time. the second time i was at the jeep dealer to have it replaced the service advisor even said to me that this happens all the time on these vehicles. well, then why isn't something being done about it? when you read the internet you will find that all jeep liberty's from 2002 to 2007 have this problem. the part was not engineered correctly and does not hold up. the part is clearly defective. you will be driving along and all of a sudden you hear air rushing in behind you. chrysler needs to be forced to fix it because otherwise, they will not do it. they knowingly sold a defective product which is fraud and it is illegal. your jeep is never secure and is unsafe. i travel into the city every day and have to fear that when i walk out my window will be down and i will be robbed or someone can just reach in and get in my car because the window is down and kill me, attack me or rob me. this does not even include the numerous other problems: belt tensioner defective, ball joints bad, rear window not working, roof rack lose and faded, windshield leaking, electrical issue, horn stuck on just to name some of the problems i have experienced. every year or two jeep expects you to pay hundreds of dollars to have a defective part fixed.

Rear windows on both the drive and the passenger side drop into the door panel while driving - mechanic said it is due to a faulty regulator but no recall has been issued even though they have seen multiple reports for the same problem. i am frightened since this a huge safety and theft hazard!

Driver's side power window mechanism broke - the window fellin to the bottom of door panel. this happened last year on my left side passenger door window and is a known problem to jeep. however, instead of recalling this and fixing it, i had to pay $520 for a repair to the dealer. this is dangerous, because it happens at any time without warning, and there is no way to put the window up once it falls down into the door. i was fortunate that i was not far from home or on a trip when this happened, or it could have been extremely dangerous. there are thousand of people owning jeep liberties with this problem.

I'm aware that this is a common defect, but perhaps there's strength in numbers. i've had no problems with my jeep up until a few weeks ago, it had been parked for about a month when one day i noticed that the rear drivers side window was down about 3-4. i turned on the vehicle to discover that the regulator appeared to have gone out. this is especially odd considering the window's been used maybe 3 times since the vehicle was new. now, since i refuse to pay $300 to fix something that the manufacturer has admitted to being defective (i.e. their fault), i'm stuck dealing with a visual impairment and security issue that could lead to ether an accident or the theft of the vehicle itself. when driving, as i often do in my vehicle, especially on the interstate, i need to be able to look over my shoulder and quickly determine at times whether or not it is safe for me to move over. the fact that the window falls at the slightest bump, not all the way down, but just enough so that the top of the glass presents a visual impairment that causes me to have to unnecessarily maneuver to try and see. there is also the matter of occupant exposure to the elements and the fact that since the window will fall for no apparent reason any time, day or night, in use or not, this presents a wonderful target for would-be thieves and burglars. *tr

2005 jeep liberty rear door window slid down into the door on the highway, causing driver to get off the gas and divert his attention to the rear window. this is a known issue with the jeep liberty as stated by the dealer, but they will not make a permanent fix. is it going to take a family pet or child to get injured or killed before something is done. this is the 2nd time the rear door window has dropped into the door. *tr

2005 jeep liberty with only 43,000 miles-driving on the interstate at speed limit when rear window started sliding down. attempts to raise window caused a loud grinding noise. once i reached my destination, i was unable to leave my vehicle since i cannot secure the window or the contents. i've contacted the dealership who have informed me that repairs will be in excess of $200.00 and that this happens quite often with this particular model. in 40 years of driving, i have never had this happen. i've been a loyal jeep owner for more than 15 years but this is the last one i will buy! *tr

I was rolling down the left rear window (electric) when it made a terrible noise. after that, it wouldn't go up or down. the window hasn't been activated 5 times since i bought the jeep in 2005. it was taken to the dealer and i was told that i need a new window register. cost $145.00 and $50.00 labor. bottom line, 2005 jeep liberty, 38000 miles, 3 years old and windows failing. *tr

First the drivers rear regulator failed, causing the window to fall and break inside the door. i replaced both the window and the regulator. six months later the passenger rear regulator failed and the window dropped in the door. this time it did not break the glass. just a month after the warranty on the driver rear expired, it failed again. now i have no working back windows. the service manager at the local dealership acknowledged this as an issue but stated there is no recall. he recommended that i take it up with chrysler. they claim it the problem exists but not with this year. they told me because i did not buy it new nor use the dealership for my service they would not help. with the glass breaking this is more than an inconvenience, it is dangerous. chrysler knows this is an issue and is ripping people off by charging them over $400.00 to replace these with parts that will fail again. *tr

Three out of four windows- loose and disconnected from window assembly. possible dangers from tossed/flailing glass. one would think chrysler would be concerned with this safety issue with inferior parts and post recalls on defective window regulators and assist their clients for repairs of these part in order to avoid a possible disastrous situation.

I purchased a 2005 jeep liberty in july 2005, only 10 miles. i was excited as this was my first new vehicle. i heard good things about jeep however, over past two years i am very disappointed in jeep. i have had two recalls on my jeep. one replace the ball joints and the other for a transmission/gear slip. two months after i bought it, motor on the driver?s side rear window went motor was making noise and window just rolled down. on the freeway the window just came all the way down by itself. i brought the jeep in and reps told me the regulator/motor was bad. i noticed that other customers had same problem. little over two years later, other window on the rear passenger side went. my window broke thursday night, 4/10/08. i was leaving work late and where i work isn't best part of town. i came up to my jeep and noticed the window was all the way down! this is definitely safety issue. called the dealership the next day at moore chrysler jeep peoria az 85382 told them what happened. i asked the rep if they would need to order the part before i come in. she stated and i quote, ?no, we don?t need to order the part as this is a common jeep problem. we have plenty in stock.? this is obviously a manufacturer defect i was furious at this point since this is the second time i have had to go and get this fixed. this is not a wear and tear type of problem. this is a manufacturer defect and they know it is faulty product. this is common knowledge at dealerships and they know that! i can?t see how jeep could knowingly put these vehicles up for sale like this! this is definitely a safety hazard. what if i had been parked at the mall? there is no defense, the window just rolls down by itself, with the engine turned off! as you can see i am very upset by this. this faulty motor needs to be recalled in all jeeps! i hope that no one gets hurt by this faulty motor as a child could easily go out the window! or they could get in and hide and rape or kill someone! *tr

Jeep libertys from 2002-2007 all have defective window regulators. chrysler knew this yet continued to knowingly use these defective window regulators. why not, after they break chrsyler gets to sell the dealership another defective window regulator and the dealership marks it up and then installs it for $400. it is a great scam. almost a little ponzi scheme. please look on the internet you will find numerous complaints about this problem. the window falls down at any time without warning. it can fall down while driving which is very startling to all of a sudden hear air rushing in the car behind you. it can fall down when the car is stopped at a stop sign or parked in front of your house. no matter when it happens it renders you car totally unsecure. anyone can enter your car since the window will now no longer stay up. any items in your car are now there for the taking by any thieves. that is the good news, the bad news is that your car is unsecure and you can be attack or killed at any time. someone can enter your car and hide behind your seat or if you stop and they see the window down they can just enter it and you cannnot stop them. the lighter side is rain or snow coming it and staining your seats beyond repair. another problem with the jeep is that even condensation stains the seats and you can't get them out. this does not even include some of the other issues: belt tensioner, ball joints, roof rack, master cylinder, emergency brake shoes (which i believe were recalled and i paid for), horn stuck on, electrical issues, leaking windshield, fuel relay switch, scratches in the paint, power door locks on rear door, weatherstipping, lights and not getting everything i was promised from the dealer. this vehicle has limited my travel. you cannot even go anywhere without wondering what will happen to your car when you get back. please recall it.

Defective window regulators. everyone knows about them. just type in 2005 jeep liberty window regulator and see all the hits. the window regulators are bad on all jeep libertys from 2002-2007. i have sent information before but it seems no one cares until someone dies. i have contacted the dealer, chrysler, bbb, the state attorney general and several tv stations. i have also told several federal government agencies including nhtsa but again no one cares about the american citizen. the ones who pay the bills. when it fails the window slides down without any warning so your car becomes unsafe and you are unable to lock it or secure the car. the glass can slide down in the door or break in the door. then you take it to the dealer and he charges you $400 to fix a known defective. chrysler and the dealers love it. you make money when you sell a car with a defect and then charge the person everytime the defect fails. it is a win win for chrysler and its dealers. the public is getting the shaft. imagine not going certain places because you are afraid your car is not safe to take there or not going over night because of your car. how about i stop at a red light and a guys gets in my back seat with a knife or a gun and kills me due to my broken window regulator. the window falls down and the rain stains the seats another issue the seats stain even from water. not to mention the other issues i have had the belt tensior, the horn, the roof rack, the parking brake, the master cylinder, window regulators, window regulators, the list goes on and on. i see there are over 60 complaints about it on your website so when can i expect something to be done. when will there be a recall on window regulators on jeep libertys? maybe we need someone to go postal at a dealership to get attention. not me. there is a known defect and with tons of evidence so fix it.

This is the fourth time that i have had a window regulator problem. the second time on the same window. i have heard that it is caused from overuse but the only window regulator that has not yet needed to be replaced is my driver window which is the one i use the most! this obviously has nothing to do with it. it is simply a faulty part that they do not feel is significant enough to find a permanent solution for. i fear that it will happen when i am on vacation or something and a storm will ruin my car without my knowing or my car will be broken into or even stolen. i know there are many other people with the same issues happening multiple times but not everyone knows to report it. i hope that enough people complaining about the same faulty part will make them do something about it.
