I have replaced all four window regulators during the past six months, and i'm starting to have problems with both front windows again, which were the most recently replaced at about two - three months ago (less than 50,000 miles) at the dealership. it seems the original window parts were defective, but the dealership's replacements (that i paid for) are much worse. i fear for the safety of myself, my passengers, my vehicle and my belongings with this ongoing issue. and i am angry about the time and expense it continues to cause. the form wouldn't let me complete with the correct required information, but limited my choices to those that did not apply.....fyi

2006 jeep liberty - faulty window regulator and chrysler/jeep's reluctance to rectify this well-documented problem at their cost
09/20/201054427
I own a 2006 jeep liberty and this morning i was rolling down the window when i heard a pop and was unable to return the rear left passenger window to the closed position. i searched about this problem and found that this is becoming a common problem among 2006 jeep liberties. a forum suggested that i report it. i had not experienced any problems before this incident.

The regulators on the power windows on my 2006 jeep liberty break repeatedly. i just dropped my car off at my local auto repair to fix the rear passenger and the front driver windows. these have both been fixed before. these are incidents 6 and 7.

My windows are falling into the well of my 2006 jeep liberty doors for no reason at all. dealers are not openingly offering to replace with updated parts. i was told that the cost would be up to $500 per window and offerring to have crysler make good of the defect. i was told the the window regulators were defected and that crysler was aware of the problem. if you know there is a problem, just have the dealer replace and file with crysler to make this a good service policy.

 Window regulators for jeep liberty
09/04/2010
I bought my 2006 jeep liberty in 2007 (february) with about 15,000 miles on it. the warranty was still good for a little longer at that time. in that time at 2 of regulators on two different windows had to be replaced. since that time 2 more have been replaced out of my own pocket. now here in september 2010 the back driver side window is doing it again. the window will fall down out of place when rolled up and when you try to roll it up the motor will grind and the window will not go anywhere. this needs to be taken care of; people are out hundreds of dollars for this issue.

I have had to replace window regulator and window two times.(once on rear passenger window and one on rear driver side window) due to regulator failure. in both cases window slipped into the door. in both cases window and regulator were replaced. old parts remained at the dealership repair shop.

We purchased a used jeep liberty 2006 several months ago. this spring we rolled down the rear windows and couldn't role them up. in fact, the rear windows seem to be disconnected from the window mechanism and can freely descend. i had to wedge them in place to keep them up. in arranging to have these fixed we were told by service personnell at corwin churchill motors in bismarck, north dakota that this has been a problem with jeep libertys and that no safety recalls for these defective windows have been issued. this seems to be a safety hazard for children or pets. if the window were to freely descend a child or pet could potentially be injured from a fall out of the vehicle. i have discussed this issue with the injury prevention director at the north dakota department of health who suggested i submit this complaint to your office.

The windows in my 2006 jeep liberty keep falling down inside the door. i have had this happen to three of the four windows. one window i have had in the repair shop three times (dealership) to fix the same problem. the last time the problem was fixed, but now i can't open the door from the inside, which to me seems like a safety issue. my wife and i were driving back from a trip in the middle of a heavy rain storm when all of a sudden the window fell down inside the door. it started hailing which was a big safety issue for our children riding in the back seat. i am just thankful that what could have been a terrible accident did not happen. the dealership has told me that the problem occurs because of a bad motor inside the door panel. the cheapest i have found to fix this problem is $300 per window. this is ridiculous when the problem keeps occuring!

On wednesday, september 5, 2007, at approximately 8:30pm both my husband and i got in our 2006 jeep liberty with only 9,188 miles to drive home. upon turning on the vehicle we turned up the air conditioner and heard a grinding sound. unsure of what the noise was, my husband turned down the air for a moment. as he turned the air back up the blower fan fell out of the dashboard and into the foot area of the passenger front seat where i was sitting. the blower fan was still turning as it made contact with my feet because it did not detach from the electrical wiring. the blower fan continued running until my husband shut off the vehicle. due to the fact that i was wearing sandals when the blower fan fell out of the dashboard my toes were severely lacerated and suffered abrasions. these injuries required me to seek medical attention. due to this injury i have had to miss work, as it is not possible for me to wear shoes, stand for any length of time, or sit without elevating my feet. this incident along with other multiple faulty window components, all of which are warranty items, cause us concern. particularly since the blower fan was a recalled part and had recently been replaced. we no longer feel that this vehicle is safe to operate and have contacted chrysler headquarters customer service call center for assistance and are awaiting an inspection. *tr

Several things 2 list: vehicle = 2.8l diesel jeep liberty, 2006. the codes are p0093 & u0121. 1st) it says a large leak in the fuel system. something in the emission system. has happened several x's. i've had it towed 4 this. engine runs rough & quits @ x's. no power. changed fuel filter & did air leak test in the fuel return system / tech at dodge jeep dealer. no air in return line found. problem still exist on an intermitant & sporadic x frame since june 2010. last x occurred = 8-20-10ish. 2) low boost from hole in the waste gate actuator vacum tube from improper routing at factory. found by tech at jeep dealer. 2 visits many hours & $$$. egr valve replaced @ same time. big $'s. 3rd) belt squeak from bearing going out in a/c compressor /dealer tech??? 3rd visit. need a/c compressor he says. previously changed tensioner pulley for this problem but did not fix problem. they now say its the a/c compressor??? 4th) right rear electric window motor failed 10-2-10. replaced motor/regulator assembly 10-7-10= $172.99. i should be reimbursed for all parts & labor for these damages. i paid a lot of $ for a supposedly good vehicle but it keeps failing. 5th) part time 4x4 light on dash says its in part time 4x4 when in two wheel drive. haven't repaired cause of $. please note that because of low power i was almost in several accidents because of the low turbo boost at acceleration. there could be injuries or fatalities in the future if this happens to someone else that's not mechanically inclined and not aware of reduced engine performance of a turbo failing slowly like mine because of a small hole in the waste gate actuator tubing from vibration on the housing bracket by the tube. was replaced and rerouted by dealer tech.

I have a jeep liberty 2006, last year the passenger window regulator broke and then almost exactly a year later the driver window regulator broke. i have to replace the window and regulator (because of an upgrade in the regulator part you have to buy a window as well). from last march to this march they have doubled the price of the regulator making the repair even more costly to consumers.

Tl*the contact leases a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact scheduled an appointment in june of 2007 to have the blower motor replaced. he stated that the part for the repair is still unavailable in september of 2007. the air conditioning system hesitates when it is activated. the dealer cannot provide a specific date as to when the manufacturer will have the part. the current mileage was 17,000 and failure mileage was 15,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. on may 29, 2007, while driving 55 mph, the vehicle completely lost power. she stated that she was almost involved in a serious crash with several other vehicles. the contact stated that when she picked up the vehicle from the shop on june 6, 2007, it was not in the same working condition as before it was brought in for the fan belt recall repair. she stated that the wheels were loose and the air conditioner produced a burning smell when activated. the dealer remedied the recall, however, they stated that there were other potential failures that needed attention. the manufacturer has not offered any assistance. the contact stated that her vehicle is brand new and she has already received seven recall notices. the engine size was unknown. the current and failure mileages were 13,000. updated 02-01-08 *bf updated 02/01/08 *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 70 mph, a smell of burnt plastic was noticed. the vehicle pulled over, and flames erupted from under the passenger glove compartment. the contact extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher, and a police report was taken. the driver sustained blisters on his right hand while putting the fire out. the contact believed the fire could have been electrical since the fire started from the air conditioning blower area. the vehicle was deemed totaled, and was taken to a salvage yard. the manufacturer was contacted, and a complaint was taken. updated 11/03/06. *jb
