Jeep liberty window regulator fail. this is a repeat occurance, all 4 windows were replaced under warranty at 29,000 miles after 26 months of ownership under tsb 2300809 at a cost to chrysler of $1,332.40. now the latest window fail happened during non-use, while i was inside my work building. this window is barely used; i hardly carry passengers. it has been 23,000 miles and 17 months since the entirely new unit was put in. * * i came out of work, and the window had slid down into the door sometime during the day. additionally, i was unable to close the door after i used a plastic bag to cover the window due to the wire cable blocking the door latch * * this can lead to increased theft, damage from the weather, as well as to passengers (specifically a baby) in the backseat during fail. no operating windows and doors stuck open are safety concerns. * * the dealer is refusing to pay for the replacement, just under $400, even after stating i would contact chrysler, the bbb and local news. there are copious amounts of these cases online, heavily targeting the 2007 liberty as well as some earlier models. the level of widespread failures and amount of time this has gone on without a recall is disturbing to say the least. currently there is also tsb 2303807 about the issue. i love jeeps, and we have bought a cherokee, wrangler, and 2 liberty's. this lack of doing the right thing and repeated failure makes us look to a more reliable (foreign made) vehicle as the next choice. * * *in summary, the window regulator starts to fail, windows start to slide off track or just drop into the door. windows are left open and doors cannot be shut. this demands a recall.

Window carrier on rear passenger window jeep liberty failed while in a car wash. this resulted in window falling in its track with the consequent impact of baby in car seat exposed to soap, liquid, and associated perils of brushes and poisons. this is second identical failure of power window regulator on my vehicle and is very very common as reported in many internet forums. vehilcle is 2007 jeep liberty with only 8500 miles on it and the rear windows are very infrequently used or opened - maybe 20 times in the entire life of the vehicle which i have had since new!! clearly the issue is that the screw drive worm in the power window regulator is made of nylon and not steel. i have now temporarily fixed one side window with a design of my own incorporating a steel spring winding and want chrysler to supply me with four new regulators so that i can modify all windows to an acceptable safe standard

We have a 2007 jeep liberty and this is the 3rd time in 2 years that we will have to have a window regulator replaced. my wife and i came back to the car and found the window down about 3 when we tried to roll it back up nothing happened. we attempted to take it in around the end of october because it was making a grinding noise, but the dealership said they did not have time to fix it that day. now our warranty is expired and we will have to pay for this repair. i feel jeep needs to step up to the plate and recall these regulators. *tr

2007 jeep liberty driver's window binds and won't close. dealer said window needs a new regulator and he had to replace a few a month on this model car. *tr
11/23/2009625001
Driver's window began to slide almost immediately after purchase in dec. 2008. back passenger window stuck about 2 inches down and then suddenly came crashing down while i was on the interstate. it nearly scared me to death! the back window is in the door. we try to keep the window covered and are not currently driving the vehicle because we can't afford the repair right now. occasionally the wind pulls the protective covering off, and we have rain stains on the seats as a result. my understanding is they no longer make this regulator because it is faulty, so the glass have to be replaced also with the new regulator at a cost of about $500 per window. this is crazy for the consumer to have to pay for a faulty product. i have contacted jeep, but they do not seem concerned. i am shocked and saddened to find so many complaints about the same thing and for chrysler/jeep not be held accountable. *tr

Replaced the rear power window regulator and glass for the second time this year. they assured me it would not happen again after the first repair since they used am improved part. dealer states this time jeep knows of this defect but can't find a supplier with decent parts so people are forced to make the same repair over and over. when this happens, i am unable to close the window, causing a safety issue when driving and parking the vehicle in lots. *tr

Component: visibility:power window devices and controls details: the window regulator in my jeep goes out it is a manufacturer defect in the making of the vehicle, it has already happened to my vehicle 3 times in 8 months and gm refuses to recall it. it is a safety issue because the window just fall out of trac k. cost is not affordable each time @ $500 to fix it. also the fix is total replacement of parts and window glass because the window glass will not fit the new parts? um then maybe it should be recalled because they know if it is fixed with the same parts it will not stay fixed!!!!!!! *tr
05/27/2009420001
On 3 separate occasions, in 2 separate jeep liberty vehicles (model years 2006 & 2007), both my boyfriend & i have had windows fall into the doors. twice it happened during the normal course of using the power window feature to lower the window, but once it happened while traveling down the road. mechanics have replaced the regulator on all 3 occasions, stating that this is a very common problem they've seen with these vehicles. my concern is that when traveling down the road and having the window suddenly drop, there's the potential for the driver to be surprised by the movement, as well as items flying into or out of the vehicle. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the passenger side rear window fell down in between the door and will not come back up. this prevented the door from opening. the dealer stated that the door would not open because the glass was lodged between the door. the dealer repaired the door, but not the window. three weeks later, the remaining three windows failed as well and prevented the doors from opening. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the warranty on the windows were 35,000 miles and the vehicle has 35,400 miles. the dealer repaired all of the doors for free, but would not repair the windows. currently, all of the windows are down and will cost $580 to be repaired. the failure mileage was 35,400.

Rear passenger side window suddenly dropped off the track while driving. an infant was in a car seat on that side of the vehicle and this could have caused debris to enter vehicle. this is the fourth incident of a power window suddenly falling for this vehicle. dealer states that window regulators are poorly designed. a replacement design is not available. *tr

Drivers side and passenger side electric windows would stall and drag while being put up. jeep replaced parts and fixed the issue with no charge. my jeep is not quite 2 years old and has 32,000 miles. the drivers side window has been used more (as you can imagine) and it has been getting progressively worse for 6 months or so. i also had to have a transmission regulator put in when the car was new. it was shifting rough.... *tr
09/15/2008120001
All of my power windows have fallen into the door at one point or another over the past year and a half. jeep has fixed this issue each time, but they fix the issue with the same parts that are defective so it is inevitable that it will happen again. this is clearly faulty craftsmanship and needs to be recalled by the manufacturer. *tr

I have had my windows fall and not go back up 5 different times since i have owned my 2007 jeep liberty, nov 2007. every time i take it in and get it fixed the dealer says they hope this time will be the last. one time when the left rear window fell the door would not open because of the pressure from the broken window motor. this is very dangerous since the window will not stay up. this is a safety issue. i also have several stains on my stain resistant seats from water, rain and bottled water which is not dirty. *tr
09/25/2008500001
The front driver window goes up crooked and has to be let down and up several times to make it go up correctly. the power windows on my jeep liberty made a pop when going up and the window failed to shut (back passenger); i had to manually lodge it up. a few hours later the right passenger side window did the same thing; however, it also made the door un-operable locking my child in which required him to go out the other door. if there had been a wreck my child could have been trapped inside. i took it to the dealer and they said they fixed the problem stating the regulators and motors needed replacing. i asked them what caused the door to lock and they said the cable pulley which controls the windows wrapped around the locking mechanism and froze the door. well a few months have passed and the windows are once again having the same problems. i was told it would cost several hundred dollars to fix these items though they had previously worked on them. i have relocated from ga to va and would not have the same dealer. when these windows fall while driving it startles you to the point of panic because the rear windows makes a funny sound when down (the way the air current hits the car); which can be quite distracting. i hope you will deal with this problem so it doesn't cause a serious problem with those not expecting it. another problem when driving if you hit the gas it sounds like the back end slips and will not go or will just jerk and slip on the roadway. *tr

Left side power windows fall to full open position. this poses a safety hazard driving with window full open at highway speeds. won't return to closed with power window switch. this has occurred four times with either drivers window or passenger windows. requires replacement of power window regulator at dealer. *tr

After minimal use of the rear windows on my 2007 jeep liberty i have had 3 failures. i bought the jeep in january 2007 and had no problems until august 2008. at that point i had the drivers rear window repaired due to the inadequate window mechanism. in july 2008 the passenger rear window went down for the same issue. i was told that the repairs were being completed with a higher quality system so that it would not be a problem in the future. in august 2008 the rear drivers side window broke again. at this point i have had to leave work 3 times to get repairs on my windows. the dealership this time told me that jeep is not providing a better solution to fixing the windows. when i called and told them the issue with the window the dealer immediately asked if it was a liberty. apparently this is a very common problem that they see several time daily. my question is why has this not been a recall issue from jeep if there is such a high volume in repairs. although missing work every few months to take my car to the dealership is not a huge inconvenience i am worried about the same repairs after the car is out of warranty. *tr

I own a 2007 jeep liberty sport, with no warranty. a few months ago, the rear, driver side window regulator and motor went bad and i had to replace this out of pocket. what is more frustrating is that this has happened to my driver front widow now. since my last repair, larry h. miller jeep in sandy utah has inflated the price of the part. they are very aware of the need of this faulty part and are taking advantage of customers. i now have no window (it is cracked inside my door and i am not in financial position to replace it). it is approximately 30 degrees in my state right now, this is almost unbearable. i have also owned a 2006 jeep liberty prior to this and the rear driver window regulator and motor also went out. i also had to replace this at my cost. this makes three times for the same part! i am asking for a recall and for the dealership to replace this at no additional cost to me. i feel it is already unfair that they provide a bad part, but even worse that they inflated the price part recently and are taking advantage of consumers. this is also unsafe, i have to drive with a garbage bag to my window which blocks my line of sight, but is the only way to keep dry in this fall/winter weather. please help me, i am at a loss right now and this is my only means of transportation. the dealership's number for where i purchased the vehicle is: (866) 653 3505. thank you again. thank you *tr

When going to put the drivers window down, i accidentally pushed the switch for the back seat window behind the driver's seat. when i hit the switch it made a funny noise. so, i left the window alone with plans to get it fixed. the window was up at this point. i went to work and when i returned to my car at the end of the day, the window was all the way down. i attempted to put it up using the switch and it made the same funny noise. *tr

After a couple of months of use, the power windows stop working and the window eventually falls into the door frame. this happens every 6 to 8 months depending on how many times the window is put up or down. this results in a 700 dollar repair bill, and has occurred on all 4 windows several times over the 3 year window where we have owned this vehicle. the window regulators, motors, and window itself have been repaired several times, and they continue to fail to keep the window up. *tr

On separate occasions and within 4 months of one another both rear window assemblies failed causing the windows to slide down into the door. this is during the operation of the window. it appears to be a defective part/design. jeep service dept is now replacing the whole assembly including window at cost to the customer.*tr

For the 3rd time, the window of my 2007 jeep liberty has stopped working and is dropping into the door! in fact, at this moment, the driver side front and rear windows are dropping into the door and the motor will not work. the first time it happened to my driver side front window, the car was under warranty. now it is not and i am mad!!!!! chrysler jeep needs to do a recall on this problem, fix all windows once and for all so we have peace of mind while we drive! *tr

My rear passenger side window fell down a few months ago, i had that replaced with the new and improved regulator and window. then yesterday the front passenger side fell down, the window has not been in use because of the weather for some time. i called the dealer where i purchased the car and they gave me a quote of over $500. in this economy i do not have the extra money to have this repaired so right now it is jimmied up and my husband put a piece of plastic in there so it does not fall down until we have the extra money to get it repaired. i have called several jeep dealerships and they have all told me the same thing, that this is an ongoing problem with these vehicles so if the jeep dealer knows this and chrysler knows this why is there not and effective recall on this. one dealer told me that there use to be a recall on this but since have dismissed it. i believe that the chrysler foundation needs to pay for this and all repairs for the faulty window regulator and the new glass they need to install. we already pay for the vehicle itself why should we the consumers pay for faulty material when this is ongoing? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep liberty. in october of 2009 the left rear passenger window regulator failed. she took the vehicle to the dealer, and the technician adjusted the base to the door frame with a wire as a temporary repair. on december of 2009 the driver-side door window regulator also failed. the vehicle was out of warrant, so the estimated cost for the repair was $300.00. there was a new re-designed regulator that cost $357.00. the manufacturer took a report 19184879. the failure mileage was 80,000. the current mileage was 90,000.

This issue is regarding my jeep liberty '07 window regulator. driving from work and i decided to open my rear passenger window and it made a cracking noise. i immediately stopped the button from opening the window further. i tried to close it again but it is just stuck there. this is the 3rd time that i had this problem and always that same window. the prior event was when it just stopped moving and a few seconds after that the glass window just dropped inside the door. *tr

The two regulators are broken in the two back windows of my 2007 jeep liberty. i had the car about 4 months when the first one broke. the last one broke about 6 months later. also, the driver's side window comes off track and when the dealership i bought it from was open they told me that the new ones they put in does the same thing. *tr

2007 jeep liberty - the manufacturer redesigned the window regulator, knowing full well it was faulty. i am now being told by liberty owners & local auto mechanics that this is a common defect with this jeep. when i went to reorder the rotary i was told that i had no other option but to order the newly redesigned version and that version required a window replacement & a label that indicated the window & regulator had been replaced. the total cost is $423.00. i am a single girl on a tight budget and i bought this jeep 3 months ago, not realizing that all of my regulators would break. to date, my driver regulator and my left passenger side regulator have broke. i'm looking at $846.00 to fix this and i believe this manufacturer should have recalled this part. i am going to file a law suit as well. i do not have the money to replace these windows; so i've been duct taping them shut. the duct tape only lasts for a week, so in between, i find myself trying to hold the window up while i'm driving, so it doesn't fall and smash inside the panel, until i can get to my home and put new tape on it. this is absolutely ridiculous that the manufacturer knows the glass will shatter, that's why you have to replace the window and yet no recall? please government officials get involved with this one and hold this manufacture responsible!!! *tr

In 2007 jeep liberty, the power window regulator breaks causing the window to drop open. this has happened 4 times on my vehicle within the last year. this could be hazardous if it happened during a storm or in other situations where safety demands the window remain closed. the last time it happened, we were just driving down the highway. no one was touching the window controls and suddenly the window began to drop slowly. the time before, the window dropped suddenly and quickly. again, no one was operating the controls at that time.

*tr

My wife's 2007 jeep liberty window regulators on both rear passenger windows broke within 2 weeks of each other. when they did, there was a loud noise then the window dropped. the vehicle is out of warranty. the incidents almost caused my wife to wreck because the noise startled her to the point she thought someone had hit her. jeep needs to be forced to correct this problem. *tr

My window regulators in my 07 jeep liberty have had to be replaced 2 times in a 3 months period and my jeep is only 3 years old. i was driving in town and it was raining. i had just left a drivethru window of a fast food place and had 2 friends in the back seat. after we left the drive through and was driving down the road my rear window just fell after it was rolled and my friend got her food, and he window was unable to be rolled up. my friend was getting wet and i was so distracted by the whole thing i almost wrecked. i have read numerous complaints from other having the exact same problems. the dealer fixes it and it continues to need yet another repair because they are not able to effectively fix the problem. the problem is in the design of the window regulator and it will only be a temporary fix and will break yet again and need another repair until a new better design is provided. the vehicle needs to be recalled and the window regulators need to be updated with a better design. a vehicle can get stolen because the window is malfuctioning and won't roll up.all sorts of other horrible things can happen too. children or infants can have too much blow air in their face and suffocate because the window is broken. i don't feel chrysler should wait around for a tragedy to happen before they recall the jeep liberty's and fix these window problems. *tr

Window regulators on my jeep liberty repeatedly failing. i've had to have the regulators repaired five times on a 2007 vehicle. windows fall down while driving in the vehicle and won't roll back up. i've contacted local dealers and they are also frustrated and said jeep won't recall the vehicles and create a permanent fix. i also contacted chrysler corporation and they were not helpful to me -- they shifted focus to the dealer. also, like the other post, my car had water on the seat and it created a permanent brown stain. it was bottled water. the seats are supposed to be stain resistant and they are not. chrysler is not standing behind their products, the seats and the window regulators are defective! *tr

2007 jeep liberty all motors in the windows are faulty. have conducted research in online forums and have concluded that most consumers of 2001-2007 jeep liberty's are having same issues with power window failure. most issues are fixed during warranty, and continue to occur until long after warranty expires. also** the seats on 2003-2007 jeep liberty's are reported as being stain resistant. something within the seat fabric causes the seats to stain with a brownish color after any liquid substance hits them. have ran a test on my own vehicle with filtered tap water and brown stain still continued to appear. addressed daimler chrysler about issue and was told that it was bad rain in my area. i do not believe that every state in this country has bad rain problems and in any case rain should not cause a stain on the upholstery of a 20,000+ dollar vehicle. i believe that a lawsuit should be filed against daimler chrysler demanding a recall on all seats and power windows with a fix to the solution or should have to reimburse every single customer all the money they have spent over the years trying to fix these re-occurring issues. thank you for your help. sincerely, sgt nathan cossey united states marine corps *tr
