Driving vehicle, rolled down the driver side rear window with power window button, attempted to roll window up later and heard a pop sound. arrived home, removed the interior door panel, noticed the window slide regulator had broken from the plastic. used zip ties to keep window held in the up position, rendering the window useless. unable to afford to have it fixed. several months later, rolled down the passenger side rear window and experienced the exact same thing as above. november 12, 2012, wife is driving home from work, rolled down the passenger front window and experienced again what happened to the last two instances. attempted to contact chrysler support, was told to get an inspection from a dealership and then contact them back.

Left rear power window regulator assembly failed when trying to raise the window. i heard a loud pop, followed the sound of the motor working, but the window wouldn't raise. scary, as my small child was in the seat next to the window. i have been given an estimate of $428 to fix the problem. i am adding my complaint to the long list in the hopes that chrysler & jeep would finally fix this systemic issue. since this is both a safety and security issue, maybe the nhtsa can help!

The rear driverside window falling problems with both front windows making a screaching sound when putting them up. the rear window wiper stopped working.

The 2006 jeep liberty window regulators continue to fail. i have had to repair the driver side window regulator twice, the left window regulator once and the right regulator twice. the first three repairs were covered under warranty, the fourth one i had to request re-imbursement from jeep which was granted after correspondence with jeep. the fifth time i am still negotiating with jeep. they are aware of the issue as there have been many complaints with the same issue.

Both of my rear window regulars broke while i was rolling down the windows after being in the sun all day. this is the 3rd jeep liberty that i have had that has had this problem. jeep wants me to pay $300 to get these replaced. this is a known problem and jeep refuses to take care of it. locking my vehicle is pointless since the windows fall down.

I was at the car wash and i was running my a/c and everything was working great. all of a sudden it was hot air coming out of the blower which has only been working in speeds 3 and 4. it is extremely hot right now in america. today in fort wayne it's supposed to be 105 and tomorrow 106. i have taken excellent car of this jeep and serviced it regularly. this has come to great shock to me and my wife as we have just moved to the fort wayne area indiana. we are down two vehicles with this heat. her car blew a timing chain and it was also a chrysler product. we couldn't afford to fix the engine for that and the cost for the a/c is 866.00 for the jeep. i have read a lot of blogs on others losing their a/c in this year of jeep. i don't want to have a stroke or worse and i can't afford to fix a six year old jeep.

Window mechanism failed while driving and window came open unexpectedly. all windows have failed multiple times since purchasing the vehicle new. each time, jeep replaces the mechanism with the same faulty parts. this is a safety hazard, because windows falling open while driving is a shock to the driver and causes a distraction, especially in bad weather. it also prevents parking the vehicle safely, because the vehicle is not secure.

The rear passenger side window regulator failed again. driving and the back window dropped without notice. this is a costly repair and its an ongoing problem . you need to make the mfg step up and make a permanent solution for a ongoing problem. i see you have had several complaints on the same issue. this is a safety issue as well.
11/03/20068508
This problem with the window regulators has been an ongoing problem since we bought this car new. the dates of repair are as follow from newest to oldest, 10/10/11,10/22/10,9/30/10,8/10/09,3/13/08,12/11/07,4/10/07,4/5/07,3/16/07,1/24/07,11/07/06,11/03/06. we have taken this car to the dealer this many times for the same problem. we have never paid a penny for the repairs. the manufacturer is now asking us to pay 100$ saying is is a warranty issue. the problem is that they know they have a defective part but cannot fix it. they have recalled on some models of this car. ours is not included in this recall. this trip for us to take this car in for the initial check is 230 miles then we have to wait for the authorization of repairs to take it back is another 230 miles. it is not reasonable for us to pay for the manufacturers faulty parts. we are out of pocket 12 times for the time and gas to go over there. this window regulator is defective and when it snaps the window rod breaks jams the door locking mechanism the door then will not stay closed or it will not open. we are also filing claims with the consumer affairs and national transportation safety board.

Two weeks after purchasing a 2006 jeep liberty, the rear left window dropped and could not be rolled up or down. it was repaired under warranty. the next time it was the right rear window and it cost $429.26. three weeks later the rear left window dropped again. this time we contacted jeep/chrysler and were told that although the warranty for this problem had been extended for the 2006 jeep liberty that mine was not included because it was built in october/2005. the agent said nothing could be done and there was no one else to talk to - it was a final decision. i called back and was told that the previous customer service agent didn't follow procedure and was stunned at the way i was treated and i was then assigned a case number and a case manager. there have now been 14 phone calls and nothing has been resolved. this is a safety issue. small children ride in the back seat that could get out of safety restraints and be in danger. the vehicle cannot be locked up and secured and it's scary to have to get inside an unsecured vehicle at night. the interior is being destroyed by constantly being rained and snowed upon in a region of the country that has more cold and wet weather than anything else. jeep refuses to acknowledge that there are hundreds of complaints on the internet about this problem, no standard policy being followed by jeep to get this manufacturer's defect fixed, and no recall for a problem that happens over and over again on the same vehicle. if jeep will not fix this problem with their product, then consumers should unite a file a class action lawsuit because the way jeep is handling this is just plain wrong.

Rear driver side power window dropped full open unexpectedly on 2006 jeep liberty; original owner of vehicle with 71,00+/- miles. repaired at dealer(costly). from internet search appears this problem is systemic to 2006-2007 models and repeat failure not unheard of...very scary at 65mph

The rear automatic windows on my 2006 jeep liberty fall down into the door panel and cannot be raised with the regulator. this happened to me while i was driving and forced me to drive on the highway with lowered windows. i have had the rear windows repaired for the same problem multiple times, and they continue to break, at times that are unsafe. it also prevents me from properly securing the vehicle from theft until i can get to the dealer and they can repair it with the same defective part over and over again.

This will be the fourth year that i have had to replace the rear driver side window mechanism in my 2006 jeep liberty. each year, the mechanism has failed while my vehicle was parked and not running (august 2007, june 2009, july 2010, june 2011). i have been told there is a recall for some models of jeep's to fix this problem but not for my vin group. i feel this is a safety issue as i cannot secure my vehicle while i am away and someone would be able to get into my vehicle and could be waiting for me to come back. also, the integrity of the interior is compromised if an accident would occur due to the window not being up. the window mechanism has been replaced each year but with the same part. no modifications have been done to help ensure this problem will not happen again. i have called jeep customer service and was told to use this website to lodge my complaint. my local dealerships have been very helpful with resolving this problem each year.

Abs, esp, brake light, battery and check engine light, come off and on i have took it to jeep at two different locations, neither place has been able to resolve my problem, i even drove with tech in the car, he saw the light come on and was unable to determine the cause

My mother bought a used 2006 jeep liberty has never had a problem,so in march of 2010 me and my husband decided to purchase a used 2006 jeep liberty from a trusty car dealer.within 2 months of having this jeep our right rear window dropped into the door as we were driving to a family function.my biggest fear was that 1 of our 3 kids could have been hurt by broken glass.my father repaired the window by wedging a piece of wood between the door and the window.i later called jeep who told me there was no recall on this jeep and that they would gladly split the cost with me which only cost $600 per window and they won't warranty because they know it will happen again.i left it alone cause we could not afford this at the time.a few months later in november 2010 the left side rear window slipped, once again my father repaired it at best he could.i finally went online to see what i could do repair the problem myself at a cheaper cost.i came across a web site steigers.com the gentleman who owns this company has created a replacement peice for the broken part and it works great.i replaced it myself with no knowledge of repairing cars.the only hard part was working in such a tight space..thank god my hands are small enough to squeeze in between the door and the window area.the part is about a $100 with shipping and handling and so far seems to have solved the problem it took about an hour to do all the work on 1 window.thats not our only problem with this lovely vechile we have also had problems with the fuel spilling out when filling the tank.the tank seems to build pressure or catch air.i dont know all i know is it scared me really bad the first time.and we have also had problems with the esp especially when you hit a turn to hard or hit a big bump.how wonderful a 4x4 vechile who doesnt like big turns, bumps or snow.and the most expensive part is the broken window..they told me its called a binding crack it happens to all jeeps so dont force your jeep to do its job..and work

2006 jeep liberty. esp/bas lights . problem does not register on computer. hundreds of other people with same problem. bas module is the problem. why is there not a recall on this.

In july 2009 the left, rear passenger window in my jeep liberty fell down by itself. in dec. 2010 the right rear passenger window in the same vehicle fell down by itself during a snow storm causing approximately 6 inches of snow to accumulate in my vehicle. these are windows that are rarely used. both the service manager and customer service reps at chrysler advised me that there is a faulty window regulator in the jeep vehicles which causes this problem, but no recalls have been made.

I purchased a used 2006 jeep liberty 4x4 last december and since that time i have had to replace 4 broken window regulators. clearly these plastic regulators are substandard and easily break. there appear to be hundreds, if not thousands of complaints online relating to the same problem.

My wife drove into driveway i noted left rear wheel, smoking, when apporched, could feel heat, because of relation two gas tank ,sprayed wheel with water hose, with steam coming from wheel, took vehicle two dodge /jeep dealership, paris ,texas next day they kept vehicle three days, after ordering parts out of dallas, took vehicle home next week same problem, same time in shop, following week same problem, this time i requested chrysler be notified as i was afraid of a fire, a week later and after over$ 800.00 in cost ,no more problems, vehicle 2006 jeep liberty don,t know what repairs was made ? what parts was replaced? i do not thing they knew what the problem was as they ask premission to drive vehicle home at night ,to assist with diagnosis of problem, never explained to me what was wrong.

2006 jeep liberty- vehicles window tracks defective with plastic clips. window would fall down due to defective plastic window clips holding windows onto tracks. i would put the power window up and the next thing the window would fall down. the dealership informed me it would cost $400 to fix the problem. i'v seen numberous complaints online but no recalls were put into effect. the cost to repair this defective product is $400 each window. also the original window that's is still good cannot be reattached according to dealership service department. i was informed that the new part would include the track and window together. so what do i do with the original window that is still good. this problem needs to be address. i feel owners of 2006 jeep libertys should not have to paid due to a defective plastic clip. please have chysler jeep do a recall on this problem it needs to be addressed.

2006 jeep liberty - three window failures within a four month period (two back windows and driver side front window. paid over $600 to repair the back windows but when the 3rd one failed, we contacted chrysler and we were told to have it repaired and chrysler would pay the dealer for the repairs. we asked about the previous repairs and were told to write to chrysler customer service and include copies of invoices. we are in the process of doing this and don't have any response yet.

Within the last year all four windows on my 2006 jeep liberty have failed, one of them for the second time since i have owned the car. the first window failed september of 2009. i had my window partly down and when i went to roll it up it made a terrible noise and the glass fell into the door. i paid to have it repaired which cost me $600. in august of 2010 the back two windows began to fall into the door on their own, i had not tried to roll them down, as i was driving. this happened within a week of each other. when i took it to the dealer they suggested i call jeep to request help. jeep agreed to repair both of these windows for me. within one week of the repair the front passenger side window fell into the door as i came to a stop in a parking lot. i am currently waiting to hear from jeep about the repair of this window. i cannot believe that this happened to my car five times in total, (the first window went out about three years ago.)

Left rear drivers side window fell. will not go up. door will not open or close properly. the other windows are starting to go out. i can tell now, by the sound. the rear window has been used 3 times. i have only had the jeep for 18 months. the replacement part seems to fail right after it is put in. at $550.00 per window at my dealer i can not get them fixed. but now my kids can not ride in the backseat because i am afraid the window will fall.

I have a 2006 jeep liberty. the windws have broker three time. they fall into the door and cannot be raised. when this happens, the window is stuck in the full down position and is a great risk as objects can fly into the car...and great risks when parking overnight and the window not being able to be raised. this the thrid window broken, with one broken twice. the windows get fixed at a dealership at a cost of $100 per window and require me to miss a half to a full day of work depending on the service repair volume.

2006 jeep liberty sport 4 x 4 window regulator failure: about to leave for work and found a rear window down on my jeep. when i tried to use the button to raise it a loud grinding noise occurred and the window would not go up. chrysler dealership charged me $442.73 to replace the regulator with, what the representative said, was the new type that chrysler uses now. rep also said i had to buy a new window glass because the new regulator was not guaranteed to work with the old glass. the new glass is not tinted to match the other car windows. there are thousands of complaints posted online, from jeep liberty owners, who have had the same problem repeatedly. there is an online petition to chrysler to recall these vehicles and absorb the expense of having these faulty regulators replaced. there is a class action suit against volks wagen for this same problem. not knowing when one of your car windows will drop is a safety hazard. there is a potential for broken glass, a dangerous driving distraction, and i was not secure in my car, though having all doors locked, my window would not go up. this leaves the car open to easy theft. since chrysler is using a new window regulator, that doesn't fit the old glass, it must know of the widespread problem of their faulty original regulators. in the thousands of posted consumer complaints, regarding this problem, it shows the problem has been going on for years. customers are paying hundreds of dollars for replacement costs.

Driver's side window went off track and i took it to the dealer and they fixed it. now the driver's side rear window falls down for no apparent reason. it happens several times daily i can not keep it up. the driver's side window keeps going off track. the passenger side window squeeks real bad.

2006 jeep liberty. just had a third window fall into the door of my vehicle. i have already replaced two, costing me $200 a piece with an extended warranty. my car was left exposed to elements all night and luckily was not broken into. the window motors fail for no apparent reason. the new mechanism requires a whole new window. jeep knows about this problem, there are tons of posts on the internet where the same thing has happened to other people. jeep is ripping off it's customers, it should pay for the replacement of the windows. what if it falls down while i am driving down the interstate in the rain with my two kids in the back? it's shameful.

Vehicle parked in lot - not moving at all - driver side rear window dropped in door. unable to lift with power window button. this is the seventh window regulator to fail on this vehicle - fourth one for this particular door. dealer diagnosed as failed regulator and indicated that manufacturer fix for this problem is replacement of regulator part and window glass - $575.

While driving my 2006 jeep liberty the rear passenger driver side window fell down. while in the up position. i already had the driver side window fixed under warranty. since i live in a cold climate state this could cause a safety issue if the window were to break in in climate weather.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty 4x4. the vehicle was parked when it suddenly began to roll down the street, jump the curb and crashed into a tree. there were no injuries and no police report. the contact notified the insurance company but had not spoken with the manufacturer at the time of the complaint. the current and failure mileages were 76,250.

My 2006 jeep liberty has had the window regulators fail with the window falling back into the door unexpectantly while driving. all four of the regulators have been replaced. the rear drivers side regulator has been replaced twice and now has broken again for a third time. no warning signs are noted prior to the failure. so far it has only happened during good weather. it could cause an accident if it were to happen during inclement conditions. the first two failures were repaired under warranty with the same faulty parts. the last three repairs were performed by myself as the vehicle was out of warranty. jeep has not redesigned the part but only replaces the failed regulator with the poorly designed orriginal equipment. the component which fails each time is a plastic piece which holds the window and connects to the regulator cable. this plastic piece fails even with minimal to no use of the window. the rear windows in my jeep have almost never been rolled down and still fail. i do not have any of the prior failed window regulators but the last failure has not been repaired yet and would be available for inspection. below under the equipment information heading and then subcategory model, i was given several model numbers of which i have no idea so i picked the first one.

I was driving home with my wife and 7 month old baby in her car seat while driving, all of a sudden the rear passenger side window completely drops inside the door. im very upset about this due to if the window wouldve broke or shattered it couldve hurt our new born baby. i have since looked online and have seen thousands of similar cases with the same problem (2006 jeep liberty). i dont know why chrystler has not recalled this problem with the windows when soo many people are having the same re-accuring issue. im stuck now with a bill from the dealer due to the warranty does not cover the whole cost of the repair which they explaine that i need to replace the motor, window regulator also the glass. keep in mind i jus purchased this vehicle in january 4 months later im already having problems.

2006 jeep liberty, both rear window actuators replaced within months of purchasing new. now both front (driver & passenger) side window actuators failed. windows do not go up or down, can only force them up manually and requires obtruction in window to keep them from falling. saftey issue. windows fell down without warning, were not being used, just fell on their own. currently not repaired and not paying dealer inflated price to repair their problem. chrysler/mopar fix this now. difficult keeping windows in up position, have had interior damage due to water coming in failed windows.

I own a 2006 jeep liberty. this is the third window regulator replaced in this vechicle. my jeep only has 43234 miles on it. the first 2 were covered under warranty. this last was the rear left window. hardly used. had to repace the regulator plus put a new window in because they changed the part. at the cost of $425. what a rip

2006 jeep liberty window regulators are just plain garbage. i just had my second one fail and i rarely ever move my windows. i was driving down the freeway, when a child passenger activated the window switch. there was a loud cracking sound and the window fell from fully closed position down into the door in fully open position. some kid will fall out of a window one of these days and die because of this. there are complaints all over the web about these things failing while jeeps are parked and unattended. why has there not been a recall on this obviously inferior and dangerous design?

Right rear window regulator/motor went out again. the dealership actually said this is incredibly common and they service it regularly. normal cost would be $220.00 however, miy vehicle was made before 01/19/2006 so it's $380.00. the window won't go up and suddenly came down.

Bad actuator on the 2006 jeep liberty windows. this is the 4th time i need to get the window fixed. it has never been corrected. there is a new actuator suppose to be better but have to replace the window also. bad thing about it the window can fall down and it would be unsecure.

Jeep 2006 liberty bought new 12/26/06. as of today my jeep will be brought back to the dealership's service dept. to have the back passenger side window looked at. i have had issues with the jeep regarding the windows since 2007. the dealership has replaced the regulators and the windows had to be replaced. the last time the regulator and window was replaced was august 2008 and not even a year later the same issue occurs. the is something that chrysler needs to address and have resolved for other owners who are having the same problems.

2006 jeep liberty power windows fail without warning dropping down inside doors due to faulty window regulators. i am currently having my 5th one replaced and jeep has known of this issue 1000's have complained and jeep has done nothing but take customers money to repair a known defect. just a simple search of the web will find thousands of customers with the same problem

Used vehicle, carfax shows issue with window regulator twice before i bought the vehicle. while driving down road with my window 1/2 way down, the window just went crashing into the door. the window glass did not break. jeep does not issue a replacement part for the window regulator so you have to go directly to the dealership to order the part @ $225 or have them replace it for @ $400.

The right and left rear power window regulators have failed within three days of each other.

My teen daughter, after saving for years, just bought a 2006 jeep liberty. the window totally dropped. after searching, this seems to be a defective product. not only is this a major safety issue, it is apparent that chrisler corp does not want to take responsibility. it is a sham that comsumer relations in the united states is declining. please address and give the next generation a little help!!!!!! replace the window regulator
03/18/201047000
There are no events leading up to the failure of the window regulator. suddenly and without warning the window will drop inside the door and it cannot be opened with the window controls. the window regulator must be replaced to correct this problem.

Power windows of jeep liberty 2006 4x4 failed a second time. after driving on highway i realized that rear window on passenger side slid down into door and could not be pushed up again. this had happened the first time in juli 2008 and was repaired under warranty. the window regulator was replaced. the failing of the power windows is a safety issue. the car can not safely left alone closed because the window always will slide down without warning-> rain damage, theft. load can get damaged or fall out of the car, kids or pets can get hurt. the dealership states that the whole window assembly needs to be exchanged ($750) although the window is not damaged. this failure of the window regulators is common on 2006 and older models. jeep has to do a recall and provide reliable and safe power windows on liberty 2006 and older models.
