I purchased this vehicle on december 1 2011 and about a month or a little more later (in january) the front passenger window started messing up (when you rolled it up it started going up crooked and you have to take your hand a straightened several times while rolling it up all the way. also, the switches that are in the middle area between the seats, the one for the back driver's side passenger side, quit working all together. toward the end of february or the beginning of march we were traveling down the road ( grandson was in the back luckily on the opposite side in his car seat) and the driver's side back passenger window started malfunctioning (when you went to roll it up the motor that rolls it up started making noise) and the window dropped and somehow jammed the door completely shut and we cannot open it. today while we were out we noticed the driver's side window is starting to act up. that's three out of 4 messing up or messed up and one has caused us not to be able to open the door at all. we cannot afford to have all this fixed on our own and it is not that old of a vehicle and the mileage is not really that high and it is still in good shape otherwise and from what i have read from some of the other complaints filed on here for the 2007 jeep liberty this seems to be a repeating issue.

Jeep liberty 2007 driver side window suddenly fell down and would no longer work leaving car wide open. four days later the passenger front side window also just fell into door, no way to get windows up. one dealer says possible recall coming, another said they never heard of problem before. being fixed under extended warranty but really is a safety issue common on liberty's. should be jeep recall to repair all windows before it happens again.

I own a 2007 jeep liberty. in april 2010, i had to have the power window regulator, motor and glass (nothing wrong with the glass) for the driver side front and rear replaced. of course the warranty expired. i was told that the regulator failed but i had to have all replaced. i was told that the design for the 2007 regulator was changed and that is why i had to have all replaced at a cost of $425.00 each. now the passanger side rear window just dropped down into the door without warning (aug 25,2010). i assume that i will have to have the regulator, motor and glass (again nothing wrong with the glass) replaced at another $425.00. i am just waiting for the front passanger side glass to fall into the door and have to replace that also. i have searched the internet and found thousands of complaints regarding this issue. some have had to have the regulators replaced three or four times. yet there is no recall. this is a disgrace. it is totally unfair for the owners of these vehicles to have to continue to shell out this kind of monery over and over again when there is clearly a design flaw. how many complaints will it take before they issue a recall? mb, darby,pa

The window on my 07 jeep liberty started making noises when it was rolling down and up, however it only did that once and it stopped going down or up altogether. the window falls down on its own while driving, shutting the door, or even just sitting there. it falls down about an inch at first and gradually goes down about another inch. i continuously have to pull the window up myself, just to keep it up for the short amouth of time. the dealership stated it was a regulator, but i had to get a whole new upgrade for my year of the car. i believe this is absolutely ridiculous that i have to pay for all of these parts, when it is happening to everyone. i have seen so many comments and complaints. i personally can not afford to pay for it and do not want to experience this in the future either.

07 jeep liberty rear driver's side power window regulator failed. window has fallen into the door. plastic components have a high rate of failure. research on the internet reveals that this failure happens often on this vehicle. loss of the window can result in personal danger in case of accident or inclement weather. personal safety is also compromised when you are not able to keep the windows up. loss of contents of the vehicle is possible if this were to happen while the liberty is left unattended. my fix was to wire the window shut. aftermarket parts are availble on ebay and other internet stores. jeep's fix is to replace the window and the regulator with parts from the previous model liberty's parts bin(a better made design). jeep needs to recall this and make the repair at their expense.

I have had two of the four window regulators fail on our jeep liberty, what was purchased new, at the end of 2007. this failure causes the window to fall down, into the door and has been identified as a design flaw, enough that jeep has completely re-designed the regulator and window. i had the first fail at 36,600 miles, last june (just passed warranty) and the second failed in january of this year. loosing a window on the freeway is a severe safety issue- and not to mention how your families ears feel afterwards. there are numerous issues with the design of this window regulator, found on carcomplaints.com, and hope that it can afford your offices attention. *tr

2007 jeep liberty window regulators continually failing. my passenger front window regulator failed 6 months after purchasing the car. the dealer replaced it under warranty. now the drivers window wont roll up normally. it gets crooked in the track when attempting to roll it up. i have to pull the window up with my hand while pressing the button at the same time. the passenger window has gotten slow to roll up again. it can take 30 seconds to roll up and you can here the strain on its motor. i am afraid that this load put on the reg motor will eventually cause a fire since it is put under such a tremendous strain to raise the window. the mechanic that replaced the passenger window reg. said that all jeep liberty window regulators will fail due to bad design. he replaces them all the time (jokingly his partners call him the jeep window man! ) he also stated you are lucky because alot of window regs that fail cause the window to suddenly drop off the track and fall down into the door and usually shatter. a co-worker of mine had this happen while driving down the freeway. window was up and suddenly dropped down and shattered inside the door scaring him to death. this wide spread complaint by most jeep liberty owners had gone ignored by jeep and they are profiting largely from it. with the average fix costing around $400 per window and most owners are replacing multiple windows, regulators, this is along the same lines as the current toyota recalls going on. all trying to make cheap parts and reap the benefits of increased parts sales. i am afraid to roll down any of my windows and this could be deadly if a fire were to occur. check on the amount of complaints with this issue and you will find enough complaints to force a recall. customers are spending tremendous amounts of money to replace parts that jeep just doesn't want to fix because the profit is to high. please help us!!!!!!! i love jeeps not corporate greed and customer devaluation. thnks *tr

My drivers side window began to stick and move up and down very slowly all of a sudden one day. i drove my jeep to the store, at which time my window was correctly in place. when i came out approximately 15 minutes later my window had sunk all the way into the door. i was told by my mechanic that the error was with the window regulator. this is an extremely common problem with jeep liberty owners and it is not only very expensive to fix, but it is a big safety hazard when windows do not work properly. especially when it is december and very cold. *tr

My 2007 liberty has slow window regulators. they go up and down slowly when in use. it can take 8-10 seconds for them to open or close. i had the passenger side replaced at the dealer under warranty. they said it is typical for them to slow down and even break completely but, they are waiting for a new design to be produced. but now, the passenger side is slow again and the drivers side has started doing it to. when it is cold outside they barely move at all. now after further readings, i guess they will just eventually fall into the doors also like everyone else's. come on chrysler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yah, my carpets wore out fast to. dealer said it is wear and tear. my dodge, chevy and toyota never did that. *tr

Window regulator, the power window regulator broke while i was driving, and the window almost broke.no one was touching the window button. i brought my jeep liberty to the dealer to have the problem fixed. the vehicle was under warranty still but as it turns out the original regulator is no longer available and the new regulator wont fit on my existing window. so the dealer said the warranty would cover the cost of the regulator but i had to pay for the new window and labor, which cost me about 200. dollarsthe whole bill was around 454 dollars. i have heard of several people that own jeep liberty's and they have also had window regulator problems. i think this should be a dealer recall item considering now you cant even get the original regulator and in order to fix it you have to buy a window. i feel like i have been scammed. *tr

Defect in the track of all four windows. part has come off of three tracks on jeep liberty windows, causing all 3 windows to fall down. all now have to be taped up. this is a safety issue/hazard as anyone could easily break into car without breaking windows or picking locks. it also impairs vision on drivers door because of being taped to stay up. *tr

I own a 2007 jeep liberty. in feb 2008 my left rear window collapsed into the panel. as it was under warranty it was repaired, or i thought it was. in aug 2009 my right rear window collapsed into the panel, once again it was under warranty and was repaired. in oct 2009 my left rear window collapsed again. now this is an ongoing problem with liberty's and because it is out of warranty now i was told i have to pay for the repairs. it is documented on several consumer advocates reports about this problems. i feel this is a safety issue as if there were children in these vehicles i am afraid of possible injuries. i do not feel it is fair that we the public should have to pay for jeep's recurring problems. i feel a total recall and proper replacement of the regulators and window itself as prescribed by the chrysler engineers. *tr

While driving the left rear window fell down into the door. i took it to a mechanic and i was told that the regulator wheel was broke. i have no idea how it got broken. i have not taken it back to the dealer because my warranty has expired and the cost would be high for the parts and labor. *tr

My drivers side front window fell into door and i was told by dealership it would cost me $375 for the regulator and $250 in labor. the dealership has not even seen the window but knew what it was because of how often they see this in jeep liberty. why isn't this a recall? will i have to worry about the remainder of my windows as well? *tr

Jeep liberty, 2007 - rear windows fall into door panel while driving or parked. my children sit in the back seat of my vehicle when moving and my daughter had her fingers pulled into the window pocket. another time the weather was cold with hard rain and the window just dropped, i'm in traffic, i was distracted by incident and it took several minutes to pull off the highway and cover the open window area with a blanket and again there were children in the back seat. the defective regulator on the jeep liberty and other jeeps has been reported numerous times by consumers who have had to replace the equipment in the same vehicle 4 or more times. chrysler/jeep refuses to correct the problem which results in the window glass falling into the door, leaving windows open while children or animals are in the vehicle and leaves the vehicle vulnerable if locked and parked anywhere. this failure accurs in over 75 % of the jeep vehicles and once the part is replaced can fail again within a month. this is not just an expensive inconvenience it does effect the safety of individuals in the vehicle when moving and when vehicle is parked and locked. *tr

After only a few hundred miles on my new 2007 liberty, the passenger front window failed, due to a faulty regulator, in november 2007. the dealer repaired it under warranty but said it was a common problem with this vehicle. after minimal use, the rear driver window failed for the same reason about 8 months later. i could manually push it up but it would fall after a few minutes of driving. the window may have been up and down a dozen times in total before failing. this is a real safety concern, and it is disgusting that such a broadly acknowledged defect is not being handled responsibly by chrysler. *tr

Vehicle has 25000 miles and has had four power window regulators break, two of which were the same window. vehicle transmission also shifts very hard between 1700 and 2100 rpm. regulators were replaced on warranty, but i fear after warranty expires this will be very expensive. have had no luck getting transmission fixed, everytime i take it in for repairs, i'm told they can't find anything wrong. *tr

2007 jeep liberty 4x4 purchased june 2009 with 15k miles (program vehicle). october 2009 the drivers side power window failed when down selected. dealership replaced regulator under mfgr warranty. march 2010 daughter and boyfriend were cruising at 65 mph on the interstate when the left rear window failed and partially fell into the door. they managed to pull the window into the closed position; but then had great difficulty getting the left rear door to latch shut. evidently some component of the window regulator system was interferring with the latch mencahism. luckily they were able to get the door closed to finish the drive home (60+ miles). definite safety hazards include startled driver when window falls, doors that can be jammed either in closed or open position, and of course security. mfgr charges customer for known defective design/engineering parts replacement (ie: redesigned regulator & gless). mfrg needs to be held responsible. problem warrents a recall. *tr

Door windows will fall down into the door unexpectedly. appears to be a failure of the window regulator. a known issue with chrysler. this has happened 3 times in my vehicle. twice in my left rear door and once on the driver door. the driver door window was really scary when it happened at night when it was raining. dealer will not replace the window because it is not under warranty. result is that the windows are unusable and must be secured by tape or some other means to keep them up. *tr

Third failure - 2007 jeep liberty - window regulator fails often. widow regulator failure creates a dangerous situation if door is jammed thus secondary method of egress is unavailable. also expensive fix: repair is over $600 per window. repaired windows (up until mid-2009) repaired with same defective regulator and would fail again. new regulator design came out mid-2009. *tr

I purchased a 2007 jeep liberty in 2008. in october 2009, the window regulator (the control mechanism that allows my window to go up or down) on my rear driver side window broke. i had it diagnosed by the car dealer i purchased the vehicle from who wired the base of the window to the door frame temporarily to protect the interior from the elements. my warranty expired because i was over on the mileage. i took it to charlies in augusta, maine who stated it is not on recall, therefore i would be required to have them diagnose the problem for a fee before they would fix it. then the repair would cost approximately $300. then in december, 2009 the front driver side window regulator broke. again, the car dealer i purchased the vehicle from wired the base of the window to the door frame, as it was snowing outside, to protect the interior from the elements. i spoke with an employee at newcastle chrysler who stated they have redesigned the regulator and window because of the problem and not only the regulator, but the glass would need to be replaced as well at a cost of $357. i am told i cannot inspect my vehicle, because of the front window not operating properly, that it is a safety issue. i consider the rear window to be a safety issue as well. if a child were in a child seat in the back seat and the window does not work properly, it could become hazardous. therefore, i am requesting this be investigated as soon as possible and am looking forward to receiving a reply. you can contact me or by mail at susan bourget. *tr

Window regulator is faulty in 2007 jeep liberty. according to the jeep dealer, the regulator has been redesigned, but the owner is responsible for all replacement costs. the window can be slid up and down by anyone inside or outside of vehicle including children (my 3 year-old did it from her car seat). there is a theft consequence and also a consequence with children next to these windows that can and have failed. *tr

My car was parked overnight and the next morning, my driver side front window was all the way down even though i had left it up. 2 days later, after i finished work, i went to my car in the parking lot and my rear driver side window was all the way down and wouldn't roll back up( again, i had left it in the up position) these are power windows. apparently the window regulators malfunctioned and broke even though they were under no stress.( i almost never use my rear driver side window). after researching online, this problem is apparently prevalent for 2007 jeep liberty's. the problem with this malfunction is that it left the valuables in my car unsecured and i was lucky that they were still there when i got to my car. the more serious problem is that if the windows drop while driving on the freeway, it could startle a driver and make them think they were hit by another vehicle or object causing loss of control of the vehicle. please look into this matter as it truly is rampant for most jeep liberty 2007 owners. thank you. *tr

Right rear passenger window regulator broke on its own and had to be taped up for 6 weeks while a replacement part, that was on back order, finally arrived. four months later the right front window regulator broke on its own. no one was in the suv when it let the window drop open. the part for this window took only five days to reach the dealership and the very day that it was replaced the drivers side rear window regulator let the window drop and i could not get it to come back up. finally used a pair of needlenose pliers to get hold of it and then tape it up. of course, the dealership does not have this part in stock. this is simply a joke and the fact that jeep has not had a recall on these window regulators should be a crime. the vehicle is a 2007 jeep liberty limited that had a sticker price of $25,000. so much for american made quality. *tr

I had to get two window regulators replaced in my 2007 jeep liberty. the jeep has 19,000 miles on it when the first was replaced. another was done at 30,000. i am now at 32,000 and the one the was replaced at 19,000 is bad again. the dealership is quick to replace the regulators, and i've been told directly front he dealership that these are a common problem. my warranty runs out in 3,000 miles and then it will cost me 79 for the part, plus the labor of having it installed everytime one goes bad. the jeep brand should be looking into the issue instead of simply replacing them when they go bad. typically when they stop working, the window will either fall, or get stuck down. it is an inconvenience to keep having to return tot he dealer ever couple of months to keep my windows working properly. *tr
