Tl- the contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph the vehicle slowed down 45 independently. the vehicle had previously been taken to a dealer for the same failure and was informed it was a possible bearing issue. the vehicle was not repaired at that time. after the second failure the contact notified the manufacturer but they offered no assistance. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 70,000. dt

I bought my 2007 jeep patriot brand new and it has been nothing but problems ever since. today is the final straw and something needs to be done to chrysler. everytime i press the brakes to stop, my engine stalls out. this problems frequency seems to have increased since it is raining. my patriot has stalled previously throughout the years but they were isolated incidences or so i thought. after reading jeep forums online, i see this is a recurring problem which jeep is not addressing. this is a major safety hazard as i live in a highly congested area. stalling on the expressway or in the middle of an intersection can lead to accidents and i am concerned about my safety. this isn't the only problem i have had with this car. appearantly its not uncommon to have to replace both lower control arms containing the ball joints at 30k miles. i have had to replace all four tires due to irregular wear and tear from defective parts. even after an alignment, at high speeds the car vibrates harshly. the transmission struggles when accelerating. i perform regular maintenance on my car and should not be experiencing these issues. the dealerships won't do anything about these problems because they have not been addressed by daimler chrysler. this is unacceptable for any manufactured car. i cannot believe jeep gets away with all these safety hazards and nothing is being done about it.

I have a 2007 jeep patriot with just over 60,000 miles on it. i was driving when i heard rumbling under my hood. i pulled over to find that my engine was knocking really loud. i pulled the dipstick after a few minutes to make sure there was oil in the car. yes, there was an appropriate amount of oil. i change my oil every 3,000 miles and have always taken exceptional care of my vehicle per the manufacturer's specification. i had to have the vehicle towed to my mechanic who informs me that the engine needs to be replaced. after 60,000 miles the engine is shot? he can't offer an explanation of how or why this happened. i even called two jeep dealerships and each service manager was very surprised to hear of an engine failure this early.

Started as accelerator flat spot.under very light acceleration (intermittent)engine will fail to respond and sometimes stay at a low rpm or stall. i have to release pedal and reapply or restart the engine. now problem is more obvious with rain causing rough engine idle, erratic idle speed and engine stall. *tr

This is a one-owner 2007 jeep patriot 4wd with 86000 miles. the cvt transmission has gone out. the dealer has no explanation for the failure. of course the 3/36 warranty is up! dealer says they can only replace at a cost of $4500. how can a vehicle with only 86000 miles need a new transmission!

2007 jeep patriot 46,000 miles transmission is defective and it will cost 7,000 to replace-- chrysler 36,000 warranty go figure they will not really assist. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep patriot 4x4. while driving 10 mph, the vehicle rolled backwards when it was placed into neutral. the vehicle was placed back into drive and then shut off. the contact placed the vehicle in park once again and was able to be restarted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they were able to duplicate the failure. the dealer stated that the transmission was designed to perform in that manner. the failure mileage was 19,070 and the current mileage was unknown.

Entire front end of our 2007 jeep patriot needed replaced at only 57,000 miles. in addition this caused both brand newfront tires to wear aggressively and now they need replaced. it began with a clunking and popping in the front driver side tire 2 weeks ago. the issue only occured when going over speed bumps at low speeds. the second week it happened after being at a stop and excelerating. i took it to the dealer who informed me that jeep patriots are known for bad u joints and front end assembly. they are replacing the bad u-joints with the same defective part! the dealer said it is good we brought this in because a front end failure was possible any time which would cause complete loss of control and an accident. i bought an extended 3rd party warrantee at the time of purchace which will cover the repairs about $1,200 worth of work. i still have to buy 2 new tires. this is a major issue with jeep patriots. i called and filed a complaint with chrysler.

At an oil change and inspection in early december 2010, the jeep dealer told me my front tie rod ends and control arms needed replacement. everything else was fine. my 2007 jeep only had 32k miles on it, so i finally got them to pay part of this. two weeks later, while i drove my car to the dealer for the repairs, the car started jack hammering. it was as if the brakes were being pulsed on and off hard. (my foot was not on the pedal and i was driving 55 mph) the dealership told me next day that my front brakes were fried and loaded with rust, and unsafe to drive. i paid them for the repairs. a week later, the pulsing reoccurred, and then a rear brake locked up. i had to get those rotors, calipers and pads replaced too. my problems continued. i had jeep look again. they could not replicate the problem. the problem is infrequent, but i continue to have a lesser pulsing sensation and a dragging sensation, like pushing a shopping cart with a bad wheel. two days ago, i took my car to an independent shop. they couldn't replicate the problem, but told me my new tires (less than 5k miles) have already been damaged by this brake problem. they also pointed out how extremely rusty the axles and axle nuts are. so rusty, you can't tell they are nuts. i am driving around now wondering if my wheels and hubs will fly off the car at any minute because there is no metal left to hold them on. why would these parts rust so badly, and so quickly? why would the dealer put brand new rotors and calipers on such severely rusted axles and nuts without telling me? don't they care if i'm safe? i have since found out from researching this, that others have the same problems with premature failures of control arms, brakes, etc. due to rust. i also found out t jeep is not (has never) notified me of recalls. aren't they required to do that? then again, they sold me a brand new car without the federally mandated mulroney sticker, and lied to me about the mpg.
