Gas overflows instead of stopping when full. this happens whenever filling tank. dealer wanted 500.00 to replace entire tank as the answer when clearly the issue is with vent. gas spills around vehicle.

Fuel spills out of fuel filler neck when filling tank completely. this happens every time i fill up my vehicle, spilling fuel on the side of the vehicle, bumper and ground.

When fueling the gas tank, the auto-shutoff valve at any service station will not shut off in time to prevent fuel splash out of the filler pipe and get on the person doing the fueling and pours down on the ground. this is not isolated to just a few service stations - it happens each and every time you fill this vehicle with gas.
08/14/2011
Each and every time i fill my gas tank the pump will cease the flow of gas from the nozzle and large quantities of gasoline will backwash/overflow from the tank. this is extremely dangerous for owners of jeeps with this issue. god forbid if someone is smoking around the area. as silly as that idea may be remember who sued mcdonalds corp. for spilling hot coffee on themselves and won millions! just because they didn't tell you the coffee wasn't hot doesn't mean it's not common sense just as is gasoline spilling violently from your vehicles gas tank is very dangerous with the potential to cause large amounts of property damage and loss of life. the gas tank needs to be recalled and modified or replaced.

When filling gas, gas blows back onto person filling and draining down vehicle. told there was extended recall, but never received anything from manufacturer. told to submit issue to govt. contacted dealership who told me i would have to wait for letter, but never received any for this, however received others.

I purchased a 2007 jeep wrangler rubicon new. shortly after purchase, i discovered that gasoline would frequently overflow the filler port when fueling the vehicle. for some reason, once the pump shuts off, fuel overflows the port and flows over the side of the vehicle and onto the ground.

Whenever i put gas into my tank and fill up, there is always an overflow of gasolline spilling out of the tank and onto my jeep as well as onto the floor. aside from the damage being done to my vehicle, this causes damage to the enviroment from fumes as well as raising the potential for fires.

Every time i fill my jeep wrangler with gas as soon as the gas pump stops pumping it spits fuel back out of the filler tube. i have tried several gas stations and it happens every time.

In the last month i have had a problem with gas overflowing out of the fuel tank filler after the gas pump clicks off. the gas comes out and runs down the side of my vehicle and onto the ground. the problem has occured during 3 out of 4 fill-ups in the last month. i have not done anything yet to correct the issue.

When filling up my 2007 jeep rubicon, after the pump handle clicks off fuel will spill out of the filler neck. it happens anytime from immediately after the pump stops to up to 5 seconds after. this happens about one-third of the time no matter what station i use of the prand of fuel that is put into the vehicle. i have owned the jeep for approx. 1 year and has done this since the week i've owned it. the vehicle has less than 20k miles on it.

Vehicle spits out fuel if you allow the auto shut off to run from the pump. if i fill up my tank until the pump shuts off it will overflow about a quart of fuel on the floor. took it to the dealer but they said it did not happen for them. i have recorded the next three fill ups and it did it every time. my vehicle is a 2007 but was built in 10/2006. chrysler has issued a fix for this problem on similar vehicles built after 03/2007.

Gas tank overflows when gas pump is left in automatic position. there has been a recall for my year and model of vehicle, but it's not within the manufacture date of the recall. there are many other jeep wrangler owners with the exact same problem. i am a firefighter, so i do realize that this is a very serious safety issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. the manufacture date is 12/06.

I own a 2007 jeep wrangler 2-dr rubicon model that chrysler's recently released tsb to replace gas tanks due to fuel tank overflow and spillage does not cover. my build date is 11-06 and is prior to the 3-07 beginning build date that chrysler will repair. i have this fuel overflow and spillage problem every time i fill up. first i would do everything to avoid spilling fuel for my and others safety however after being left out of the tsb from chrysler and you all closing the case on the incident i feel completely disenfranchised and i have decided to let you know the seriousness and need for this to expedited that i will no longer be careful and i will allow this problem to occur everytime i fill up. this opinion is shared by many others and our idea is we are going to give this problem every chance of being as disasterous as possible to get this problem solved as quickly as possible. i know this tactic is not safe or responsible however neither is what has been done wit this situation all together. hopefully this dangerous and aggravating situation can be resolved quickly.

While fueling, the gas tank and vent pipe cause back pressure resulting in fuel spray and overflow. the overflow can cover the person filling in fuel and spill up to a gallon of gasoline on the vehicle and ground.

I have a 2007 jeep wrangler rubicon 2-door and every time i fill gasoline it spews out everywhere and this does not matter how fast the flow of gas is or at what depth the pump handle is. it is enough gas to come up and out of the filler tube run down my rear quarter panel and make a puddle on the ground. not a safe situation with the uncontrollable discharge of a highly flamable liquid.
01/16/2010200
My 2007 jeep wrangler overfills when ever i add gas. this results in sometimes spraying on me but, always spilling over onto the vehicle and ground.
12/01/20091000
Filling the fuel tank till the pump nozzle shuts off automatically will result in a fuel spill. this condition has existing since new. rate of occurrence is approximately 8 out of 10 fillings. resulting spill is sufficient to wet the side of the vehicle, left end of rear bumper, and the ground below the fill port. spill quantity estimated at approximately 8 - 10 ounces of fuel each occurrence.

Jeep is a 2007 wrangler. when filling up, gasoline overflows out of the fuel tank just as the tank gets full. started at about 27k miles. jeep now has 28,500 miles. it does not matter if the fuel tank starts out empty or if it is half full. it spills out every time now. the gas spills out onto the vehicle and runs onto the ground. this can't be good for the environment. in addition i get gasoline on my hands which is not healthy.

2007 jeep wrangler. gas overflows when refueling. it happens when you just let the pump click off when full. i have never tried to overfill it, or top it off. you simply fill until the pump clicks, and then a fair amount of fuel seems to bubble back out. it runs down the side of the vehicle and then leaves a fairly large puddle on the ground. this is definately a safety hazard. this did not happen for about the first 2-1/2 years of ownership (23,000 miles) now it is just about every fill up.

 1) this failure happens at the end of refueling my gas tank. just about the time the tank hits the full point. 2) the failure is that the gas sprays out of the tank when the tank hits the full mark. this causes the entire side of the car and bumper to be covered in gasoline as well as my hands and clothing 3) so far nothing has been done to correct the problem other than just not filling the tank to full.

Starting in late 2008, when refueling my 2007 jeep wrangler jk, the automatic shutoff at gas pumps doesn't shut off when my tank is full causing fuel to overflow and occasional splash out of the fuel filler neck of the vehicle. if i do not shut off the gas pump manually before it is full, this has occurred every time i put fuel in the vehicle. this issue has resulted in minor to significant fuel spillage including soaking my hands and feet in fuel at various times. other than monitoring and stopping the pump during refueling, i have taken no action to resolve the issue.
11/27/201045200
When filling up my fuel tank on my 2007 jeep wrangler at any gas station an alarming amount of gasoline gushes out of the fuel filler neck after the fuel pump has automatically shut off. i do not recalling this happening when the vehicle was new, it's only recently that this has occurred. probably started around 8 months ago. it does not appear to be gas pump specific, i've tried approximately 20 different gas stations over the amount of time that this has been occurring. fuel spills out onto the vehicle, the ground and also myself. sometimes to the point that i've had to change clothes due to fuel splashing onto my garments.

Everytime i fill the tank it spits back gas. no matter how slow or what station i go to. it was fine untill about 40k miles. now it is a real safty issue.

When filling gas on my 2007 jeep wrangler. the gas nozzle will click off at full. and then apox 2-3 seconds latter aprox. one quart of gas will spill out of the filler neck down the side of the jeep onto the ground. this has been an on going problem for the last 3 months.
11/21/201038000
2007 jeep wrangler 2-door 1) nearly every time i fill up my gas tank, which holds 15 - 16 gallons per my estimate and fill-up history, it overflows (i have had the car for 13 months, fill up twice a week; 56 weeks x 2 = 112 * 0.90 = 100 times this has happened). the overflow is not because the tank is over-filled, as it is possible, in my experience, to add an additional gallon after initial overflow. 2) the mechanism that shuts off the pump handle automatically when the fuel tank is becoming full does not stop the pump. this results in excess fuel ending up all over the side of my car, the attached gas cap, and one's shoes and person if one is not expecting the fuel to spit back out. 3) nothing has been done as of yet to correct the failure.

Fuel spills out of the filler port during fueling. it happens when filling the tank to full. when the gas pump automatically shuts or clicks off, fuel spills down the side of the vehicle or shoots from the fill or nozzle. this covers the side of the vehicle, the ground, and sometimes the person fuleing if standing nearby. issue has occured at many different pumps. issue began at approximatly 20,000 miles (reached in approx 2008) and has continued ever since.

Everytime i refuel, gasoline will overflow and spill onto the ground. the pump will not stop the flow of fuel in time to prevent spillage. i've tried to slow the flow as it nears a full tank, but the problem has persisted. the only thing that will stop the fuel from overflowing is simply not filling the tank completely full. i have to stop at about 7/8ths.

When you fill up, after the pump clicks off, lots of gas pours back out of the tank. it could run down near the muffler and ignite. not to mention the environmental effects of gasoline on and in the ground.

I bought a used 2007 jeep wrangler 2 door with 34,000 miles on it. i had fiilled the gas tank several times only to have it backflow on to me and the side of the jeep making a real mess and creating a major safety hazard. of course i blamed the service station pump for not stopping in time but this happens on every fill up when trying to fill the tank full. this problem is a dangerous problem and should be corrected before someone gets injured. my warranty is up 40,000 miles and i am told it needs a new gas tank to repair which of course is several hundred dollars of repair cost. this faulty part demands a safety recall be implemented or maybe a possible class action lawsuit before someone is injured.

My 2007 jeep wrangler x has had a recurring problem with fuel spilling from the fuel tank nozzle during fill-ups. when the tank is full and the gas pump shuts off, fuel gushed from the filler tube and down the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. the fender and bumper near the fill nozzle are now discolored due to the situation. i have brought the vehicle to a dealer to complain about this, and they replaced the gas tank. this did not solve the problem. every fill up, i have the same problem. i am concerned that at some point, the fuel will hit a hot area and ignite. i see that a number of complaints on this very issue have been filed (pe10032). please address it!!!!

When filling up the gas tank, no matter how slow i do it, there is an overflow and in a couple cases a forcible splash. it was so forcible this weekend that my pants and shoes were soaked. i have read on a jeep forum that this is happening to a number of owners of the jeep wranglers. there are even a number of youtube videos documenting the situation. at the very least this is an environmental issue but it could escalate into something far more dangerous because of the amount of gas that overflows.

Fuel overflows whenever pump is left on fill. this occurs every time i fill the vehicle with gasoline. for the last 3 years i have been told by the dealer that they can't find any problem. i now just add a few dollars worth of gas at a time so i know it won't hit the shut off point & overflow. *tr

When trying to do a complete fill-up of fuel, the pump will shut off as it should, and then a moderate amount of fuel will burp out of the opening. it spills down the side of the vehicle and on to the ground. unsafe, unpleasant, and environmentally irresponsible. this is a recurring problem. the jeep had no issues for over two years, since fall of 2009 it has been occurring, will do it everytime i do a full fill-up, no matter what gas station i use. i no longer do full fill-ups as a result, which makes it difficult to properly track fuel economy. *tr

After the fuel pump at a gasoline station shuts off indicating my gas tank is full, gasoline spews back out of the tank through the opening where the gas pump nozzle is inserted once the nozzle is pulled out after fueling. the amount of fuel spilled is significant. i believe it could cause damage to my paint and plastic pieces on my vehicle and is also a fire and environmental hazard. this is not a result of continuing to pump fuel while removing the nozzle. the flow of fuel through the nozzle has stopped but pressure from inside the tank forces fuel out when the gas nozzle is removed. this has occurred on multiple occasions at multiple gas stations and did not occur earlier in the vehicle's history and does not occur when i am fueling other vehicles. *tr

In the past month the vehicle has begun to spit up gasoline when filling up at the service station. whenever i fill the tank to full and the fill nozzle automatically cuts off, a good amount of gasoline comes up through the filler neck spilling out onto the ground. various jeep owners have encountered the same issue and have posted it on the net those that have sought to have the problem remedied have usually had a new tank installed and/or some sort of emissions valve replaced. my vehicle is out of warranty and my dealer will not even look at it without me paying a 'diagnosis' fee. furthermore i cannot afford to pay for a new gasoline tank on a vehicle that's only 3 years old and has 27,300 miles! i have resorted to only filling my tank 3/4 of the way. i feel this presents various safety issues since there is a significant amount of gasoline spillage presenting a dangerous situation at the pump. *tr

I have a 2007 jeep wrangler x and it seems every other time i fill the gas tank the tank will over fill and fuel will spray out of the filler neck. it is not just a slow over flow it is literally a spray of gasoline coming out. i talked to the local dealer and they said that they have heard this from many other owners but do not see anything wrong with my jeep. i have tried many different gas stations and i get the same result everywhere i go. so it would seem that this is a problem with the jeep and not the pump. *tr

Every time i fill my 2007 jeep wrangler with gas at a gas station, the automatic shutoff triggers too late and gas spews out of the fill tube. usually enough spills to leave a 1-2 ft^2 puddle on the ground. i've tried many different gas stations all with exactly the same result.*tr

Fuel overfills from filler neck when filling at gas station. i've tried several different things to get it to not overfill, but it doesn't. and now i've read that many people are having the same issue. *tr

My car was parked on an incline of about 20 degrees and i had 1/4 tank of gas. when i went to start the car it wouldn't turn on. all the lights on the dash came on, but the engine wouldn't turn over. my radio and lights worked fine. this is the 3rd time that this has happened in a year and 2 months. the two prior times, i coasted down to a flat area and the car started. tonight it didn't. i think there is a problem with the fuel delivery system or fuel pump. the three times that this has happened i have had 1/4 of a tank of gas or less. *tr

I own a 2007 jeep wranlger that was manufactured in february of 2007. every time i fill up the gas tank the fuel overflows and spills out of the nozzle, creating a hazardous puddle of flammable gasoline on the fender, the tire, the ground, and the person fueling it(me).
