The jeep death wobble has been happening to my vehicle since october 2011. i purchased the vehicle in october 2010. it happened once in 2011, i took it into the shop to see what was wrong and they said nothing was wrong with it. in the past two months it has started up again. i live in a remote area in alaska where the nearest city is 100 miles, only reached by highway. each trip i would hit a bump and almost hit the guard rail at 65 mph. i stopped driving it until two weeks ago on my way back home from work (10 miles from home) it happened 3 times in the speed of 35-55. it was completely violent shaking where each time i was not able to control it. it only got worse with braking. the entire vehicle was uncontrollable. i am unable to take it to mechanics shop because it is 100 miles away and i am not putting my family or i at risk of an accident on an alaska highway.

Was driving on the interstate when the jeep started shacking like crazy couldnt control it almost casued wreck between two tractor trailers thought it just fell out of gear but then week later it did it again going around a curve and almost went over a very steep hill side to later do research found out that it has been a on going issue called death wobble several things cause it that are defects took it to the dealer ship to find out they have to replace damper bracklet kit, steering damper, damper tire rod, damper bracket nut and a bolt only had the jeep 3 months the dealership had never heard of it which i was told they say that thru the online comments from others who have had same problem i printed out all information so they could see what was going on now there charging me to fix the problem to also find out that the jeep never went thru the service department until i took it back asking when the oil change and tire rotation was do on it there wasnt any records in there system of it being thru there service department so they just put on the lot to sale basically so they changed the oil then and serviced it now im with out a vechical for 5-6 days while they order the parts and fix it ive never had this much trouble out of a vechical paying so much money for it and 3 months in already haveing to fork out money to have it safe and drive able so filleing this complaint to hopeful help others in my situtaion on a safety defect that should be fixed by the company and not the individual befor someone gets killed like i did almost twice befor i knew what was happening.

I bought a 2007 jeep wrangler x, this vehicle is equipped with the stock steel 16 rims. these rims have a major design flaw they are made with a deep cavity and or trench behind the spokes, snow, ice etc. settle in this cavity making it impossible to chip or remove the ice. as you drive on snowy roads the tires throw snow, ice etc.. into this trench. while centrifugal force hold the substance in place. when this happens the wheels are out of extreme balance shaking the vehicle, the steering wheel shakes violently. i contacted jeep about this and they say there is nothing they can do, hopefully you can. this is the first year for this type of rim and hopefully the last. *tr
