This has happend a few times but when fueling up when full gas would spit out (a lot) and run down the side of my jeep and leave a puddle at the gas pump.

When fueling, the gas tank burps approximately 1liter of gas after the fuel station pump turns off. this is not due to overfilling the tank. this happens every time i fill up, not on partial fills. the gas spilling is ruining my paint and plastic as well as damaging the service station cement and ultimately damaging the environment. (if this happens to every owner of a jeep wrangler, multiplied by every gas fill-up, just how much gasoline is being spilled?)

When filling up with gas and setting the locking mechanism on the fuel nozzle, upon fillup, fuel will spray out of the fuel filler before the nozzle disengages. this has been repeated at all of the subsequent fillups, using different stations and pumps. fuel will spill onto the ground, side of vehicle, bumper area, and on the person refueling.

The throttle control light came on at 40 mph and then started flashing and i had no throttle and had to drive home on idle. this was a used car on the way home from purchase. the jeep dealer had it for three days and says the garage computer corrected the problem, but it still happens about one a month, i have to pull over, shut the key off and restart for it to work,

Jeep wrangler has had an issue when filling the gas tank with fuel overflow at time of full tank. the pump will not shut off and gas is spilled on vehicle and ground. happens everytime i fill up since about 12k miles on odometer. have heard that jeep will pay for repairs for jeeps manufactured beginning march 2007. there are many of us, like myself, that have jeeps manufactured earlier (mine was manuf. october, 2006 - 2007 model) that are having this issue and i would like jeep to over coverage for replacement of the gas tank as they are doing for others. this is an extreme safety issue and environmental hazard. please assist. thank you.

While fueling the car, when the pump shut off, several cups of gasoline overflowed onto the car and ground below. i've owned the car less than two weeks and have only filled it up twice. both times gas overflowed on the ground. this is not only inconvenient, it also wastes money and is an environmental hazard. i am trying to see if this repair can be covered under warrantee.

I just purchased a 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon a couple weeks ago and when filling at the pump spits up gas when the pump shuts off when the tank is full. thus spilling gas on myself, the vehicle and ground.

Last summer (2010) my 4-door 2007 jeep wrangler began having problems with the gas shut-off valve. when filling up with gasoline, gas would shoot out of the tank at the end of the filling process. it splashes out of the tank and if i don't get out of the way in time, gas can spray on my body. otherwise, gas spills out all over the exterior of the vehicle and onto the ground around the vehicle. the problem happened intermittently for a while and now happens almost every time i fill up with fuel. nothing has been done to correct the problem as i feel this is a defect and not something i should be responsible for.

When refueling my 2007 jeep wrankler (4dr) the fuel will overflow back out of the tank without warning. this occurs when locking the fuel pump handle as some places allow and when fueling up manually. there is no way to know when to stop fueling before this occurs uhnless you try to remove the nozzle and look into the fill hole while slowly pumping the fuel.

I am the owner of a jeep jk four door sahara wrangler.... 2007 model. since i have owned it i have had it spit/ hurl fuel every single time i fill it up. its gotten so bad that i now purposely have to watch it and can't do a complete fillup.

Fuel burp around fuel nozzle after auto shutoff, down side of jeep and onto bumper. happening every fillup after odometer has passed 50,000 miles.

Gas overflows when filling tank. after automatic nozzle shuts off gas backs up in fill tube and exits from fill tube. gas spills over onto outside of vehicle destroying paint and forming puddle on ground. sometimes gas expels so fast it shots out and gets on person pumping fuel. this happens at every full fill up. nothing has been done to correct this except for trying to manually stop pump before tank is full.
12/01/201080000
Over the pass two months as i fill the gas tank of my 2007 jeep wrangler once the tank is full and the pump stops the flow of gas, gas spits back out of the fuel inlet with some force behind it. other than gas covering my hands and legs no injuries have resulted from this but with the force that it does come out of the inlet it could easily get in to someones eyes, not to mention the effect of gas covering my hands every time i fill my gas tank. i have brought it to my local dealer and they have told me i need to replace my gas tank as there is a vent that is part of the tank that can not be replaced without changing the whole tank at a cost of 610.00 this sounded odd to me so i started looking in to it and found a large number of this happening to other people. that in turn led me to your web site and this complaint form. i have an open case file in with jeep but have not got an answer as i write this. i have read the investigation you have done into this and my only comment to that is just because no one has been hurt yet does not make it safe

Fuel splashes out of filler neck on my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited at fill-ups when the pump automatically shuts off. it has occurred in warm and cold weather, and at several different gas stations both with and without vapor recovery type nozzles. an estimated 1-2 cups of fuel can splash out, getting all over me, the vehicle and the ground. originally the problem never occurred, but now happens 50% or more of the time having started perhaps two years ago. i thought it might just be me until i learned recently nhtsa was looking into the issue. this problem can be a potential fire/explosion hazard, as i often see idiots smoking while refueling their vehicles. not to mention other potential health and inconvenience issues due to contact with gasoline.

When filling up my 2007 jeep wrangler with fuel about a quart shoots back out after the pump stops. different gas stations and ambient temps do not affect the issue, it always happens. this is unsafe! my wife and i both have had gas spilled on us, our children can breath the fumes on us getting back in the car, and gas is left to seep into the ground or catch on fire from the heat of the next cars exhaust. not safe! tsb 14-001-11 which extends the gas tank valve does not pertain to my 2007 jeep wrangler since it was built dec 22, 2006 and the tsb begins on march 1, 2007.

I have a 2007 4dr wrangler and have 29000 miles on it and every single time that i have filled the tank up it over flows onto the ground. i have had to put absorbant down per the gas station for the mess that was caused. it splashes back hard enough that it gets everywhere. and for those of jeep that read these, no i do not leave the pump or handle unattended. it not being under warranty anymore, it is no use after reading all this that i contact jeep to have it fixed as they say nothing is wrong. but the feeling of gas in your eye is a really uncomfortable feeling caused by a defect in jeep.

Every time i fill up my 2007 jeep wrangler jk unlimited it suddenly overflows pouring gas all over me, the ground, and the jeep. this occurs everytime i fill up the jeep. even if i slow the pump down when getting close to full it still spits fuel out. i've tried several different gas station with the same dangerous results

Every time i fill the tank on my 2007 jeep wrangler it overflows gasoline to the point that a small puddle forms on the ground. if i slow the pump towards the end it will still spew gasoline, but not to the same extent. the jeep has done this every single fill up since i purchased it in august 2010.

I own a 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon. the vehicle has 16,000 miles. beginning at about 12,000 miles, when filling the gas tank, the tank consistently overflows, regardless of level of fill, gas station or weather condistions. approximately 8 to 32 oz of gas flows or spurts from the filler neck. this condition represents a personal injury risk, fire hazard and environmental issue. as the vehicle is beyond warranty, jeep refuses to address this serious issue. based on jeep blogs, this issue appears to not be an isolated one.

When i fill up my gas tank, it 'spits back' fuel before shutting off leaving gas dripping down my fenders and onto the ground. it doesn't appear to be too much gas but still leaves everything wet with gas including the gas pump. this happens when using the auto shut-off feature of the pump. it also happens when on the low speed setting. this started around 50k miles and continues now at 55k miles.

Gas spills out when filling up my jeep jk unlimited rubicon
01/05/201138000
My '07 jeep wrangler jk began to overflow fuel at nearly every fill up. this started in approximately november '10 with about 38,000 miles on the jeep. at times the gas will spew out with significant force, creating a serious hazard. other times it pours out right past the filler handle and pours down the side of the jeep and all over the ground. it has done this even after i have tried to relieve some of the pressure in the gas tank by stopping the pump, removing handle from filler neck, then re-inserting to resume fueling. this is a dangerous condition that needs to be addressed. i am aware that many other owners of the new wrangler jk have the same issue.

While refueling the vehicle and the auto shutoff device clicked fuel was burped out of the filler and down the side of the jeep and onto the rear bumper. this is occuring at every fillup since the 50,000 mile mark on the odometer. it does it with the fill nozzle set at any flow rate.

While refueling my vehical, the gas pump does not shut off in time to prevent an overflow and spill of gasoline onto my person and the ground. this will happen everytime i fill up.. the only compensitor action i have taken thus far is to esimate the amount of fuel that is needed for a fill up and make sure i stop refueling approximatly 1 gallon ahead of this point.

 Gas tank overflows when filling.
01/06/201154000
Every time i fill up my 2007 jeep wrangler rubicon, gas will overflow when the pumps shuts off. the first few times, the overflow was a nominal spill. after the 4th or 5th time this occurred, the overflow amount is now a large gush of 1/2 to 1 gallon spilling broadly all over the vehicle and in a fairly wide range away from the vehicle. chrysler claims the problem is not in their design, yet a fuel tank is not available -- is on back order from supplier. based on a simple review of complaints, it appears this is not a problem unique only to my vehicle. i am concerned about being splashed with gasoline, or having gasoline splash out and ignite at a gas station.

Every time i fill up my gas tank it overflows. it doesn't matter if the pump is on slow, fast, or i am manually pumping it. i've tried different stations, some flat, some angled, nothing helps. i just spill gasoline all over the floor and sometimes myself.

When filling up with fuel and allowing the pump to shut off automatically, the fuel will overflow about a 1 gallon when the pump kicks off. if you manually stop fueling, then pump slowly, it will kick off without overflowing. i have not have this corrected yet.

I have a 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited. the continues to be a problem with the gas filler and the fact that gas bubbles back out the filler hose when the tank is filled. it occurs when the gas trigger is set to shut off automatically. once the tank gets full of close to full and the trigger is shut off gas will gush back out the hose onto the side of the car, my shoes and all over the ground. depending on the strength of the gas pump as much as 2 pint have bubbled back out.

I have a 2007 jeep wrangler 4x4 (4dr) and now, whenever i fill the tank, fuel spills out of the filler port during the refueling process. in essence it is exactly as the complaint that is filed with chrysler mentions -- this condition generally occurs when the fuel tank is filled to the full or nearly full level and the gas pump automatically shuts or clicks off. fuel spills on me, the car and the ground. i would say in excess of a couple quarts.

For the past two winters, every time i fill up my 2007 jeep wrangler, if i allow the pump to automatically shut off, fuel blows out the filler and gets all over the jeep, the ground, me and sometimes the pump. this does not happen if i shut off the pump manually well before the vehicle is full. i should also note that there is a lag between the time the pump shuts off and the time the spill occurs of approximately 2-3 seconds.

Fuel overflows from filler neck of fuel tank when fueled to full. fuel then sprays all over me and the side of my vehicle causing a potential fire hazard. happens every time tank is filled to full or near full.

Fuel tank overflows when filling it with fuel on my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited x. fuel spills out when fuel pump automatically shuts off. fuel splashes out, gets on hands, side of vehicle, and all over the ground.

When filling the tank on my 2007 jeep jk unlimited wrangler, the fuel backpressure creates overflow situation when the tank approaches full; this results in spilled fuel on my jeep, on the ground, and on my person. happens every time i fill up.

Fuel spills out of the filler port during the refueling process. this condition generally occurs when the fuel tank is filled to the full or nearly full level and the gas pump automatically shuts or clicks off. spills fuel on me and down the side of the jeep and down to the bumper and exhaust. started around 40,000 miles on the odometer.
12/10/201045000
For the past two years, almost everytime i fill my jeep the gas overflows right after pump shuts off. i've even tried to stop the pump and pull it out to let it settle before completely filling, but this hasn't helped. there is usually enough gas coming out to create a 3 foot puddle on the ground. this has happened at different stations, in different types of weather.

My jeep wrangler gas tank has a problem. a valve somewhere in the tank is sticking so that when the gas tank is filled at the pump, often times, gas will spill out until the pump shuts off. probably a gallon or two spill out on the ground. other times, the pump will shut off prematurely where the attendant must turn the pump nozzle upside down to get the gas to flow. i have read that this is a common problem with jeep wranglers for a few years now, but jeep hasn't addressed it with a recall despite causing a safety issue.

2007 jeep wrangler every time i fill up my gas tank it overflows. i have tried different gas stations, with different types of pumps, in different locations all over the state. every time i fill up it overflows - no matter how far i press the gas pump triggers, or how quickly i fill up. this happens every time, so now i can no longer fill up my tank because of the serious hazard this causes for my health and safety! this is a very common problem with many jeep owners. please help us get this adressed. thank you very much.

2007 jeep wrangler sahara unlimited: gas tank overflows and literally splashes out when fuel pump clicks off at full tank.
11/12/201037500
2007 jeep wrangler unlimited x when refueling the vehicle, often the overflow shutoff will not work and gasoline will pour out the vehicle or splash down the side of the vehicle. this is possibly more serious due to the plastic fenders which may generate a static electricity shock in the right circumstances.
11/28/201051671
While filling gas tank at a major station the gas tank would not accept gasoline at a high flow rate, it would only allow the tank to be filled at a very slow rate or it would click off indicating that the tank was full. this was the first fillup after the tank overflowed after shutoff. this is the first occurance of this happening. the tank was just over 1/4 when prior to filling.
11/28/201051369
While filling gas tank at a major gas station the nozzle shutoff clicked indicating that the tank was full. gasoline was burpedout of the fill pipe and ran down the side of the jeep and onto the bumper. this is the second instance of this happening both were during colder temperatures.

Nearly everytime i fill my jeep with fuel, just as the gas nozzel clicks off when the tank is full gas overflows down the side of the jeep and sometimes onto me.

Fuel spills out of the filler port during the refueling process. this condition generally occurs when the fuel tank is filled to the full or nearly full level and the gas pump automatically shuts or clicks off. consumers report that the spilled fuel can splash on the person fueling the vehicle, or on the side of the vehicle and the ground.

When i fill up my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara, using the pump lock feature on the gas pump, fuel splashes out of the gas cap tube when the tank gets full. fuel splashes down the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. one time, my son was standing at the rear corner of the vehicle, and gas nearly splashed all over him. definitely a concern.

Just purchased a used 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited and have yet to figure out how to fuel up without massive overflow at full. never have i experienced such a large amount of overflow on any other vehicle i have owned. this occurs on the first shut off at full, not under topping off (which i know should not be done). i have experienced the same overflow at every fuel up and at different fuel stations.

I am the owner of a 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited with 56,000 miles. i purchased the vehicle new in april of 2007. the problem is overflowing gas when the tank is filled. once the tank is filled completely, the pump clicks off and the fuel tank then burps about 1 pint of fuel out. at times, the fuel comes out vigorously in a spray making it even more flammable and covering me and the vehicle. i have gone to many different gas stations since and have the problem every time i fill the tank. the problem also occurs when i hold the pump and try to limit the fuel flow. per the dealership's recommendation, i have replaced the vehicle's evaporation canister, but the problem remains.

About 3 months ago, i was filling up my 2007 4 door jeep wrangler with gas. the pump automatically shut off and immediately following the shut off gas come pouring out of the jeep. it splashed all over me and puddled on the ground. i thought it was a defective gas pump and complained to the station attendant. it happened again at the next fill up and has at every fill up since if i don't catch it first. it's not the gas pump because i've used several different stations. the only way to keep the gas from spurting out of the jeep is to not fill the tank all the way full. this problem is very distressing and causes a very dangerous situation with gas puddling on the ground and splashing on me and the vehicle. i have had a mechanic look into the defect, he researched online and found complaints of the same problem from other jeep owners. apparently there is a problem with a flap inside the gas tank that becomes defective and allows the air inside the tank to push gas out the neck upon filling the tank. my mechanic is currently getting ready to replace the gas tank. *tr

I have a 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon and at every fueling i have an issue where gas spills out. this seems to be a common problem with many of other jeep owners, and it only seems to be a matter of time before this creates an issue where people or property are damaged. *tr

At various gas stations with tested equipment, the pump will fill the tank and then the tank will overflow before the pump can shut off. my 2007 jeep wrangler jk has been filled up at the same gas stations for 2 years, and with the same pump equipment there is an issue with the tank not creating enough pressure for the nozzle to automatically shut off. the only remedy that has been given from the dealer is for me to pay for a new gas tank, which they will not warranty against this in the future. this is an environmental and safety issue as this lets gas seep into the water table, and in so. fl that is pretty much straight to the ocean. *tr

During refueling, the gas would over flow when the pump turned off. it appeared to be about a pint or two of gas each time. i experienced the same issue when i used several different locations and brands of gas. upon contacting chrysler, they seem to think it is an isolated incident, however, a quick search of jeepforums.com and youtube show that this appears to be a systemic problem with jeeps. there was no attempt by chrysler to accept responsibility, however, they offered to pay for half of the repair out of goodwill. the vehicle, a 2007 wrangler x unlimited, is still at the dealership awaiting repairs. *tr

When i fill my gas tank it overflows and spills out of the gas tank regularly. so i wait until the low fuel light comes up before refilling. i know my tank holds approx. 19 gallons so when i'm filling up, i have to stop the pump at 16 gallons and then slowly squeeze the handle up to about 18 gallons. even then sometimes this still causes the fuel to overflow and spill all over the side of the jeep and onto the ground. the automatic shutoffs on the nozzles never kick in. i've had the same problem at multiple gas stations. i know this is not an isolated incident as two of my personal friends have similar vehicles to mine and we have the same exact problem. in fact, on jeep wrangler 2007-2010 message forums, the issue appears to happening very often to other drivers as well. *tr

I am the owner of a 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara with 56,000 miles. i purchased the vehicle in december of 2009 used. the first week of owning the vehicle, i went to the gas station to fill the tank. i placed the nozzle in the filler tube and set the pump to auto fill. once the tank was filled completely, the pump clicked off and the fuel tank then burped about 1 pint of fuel out. at times, the fuel comes out vigorously in a spray making it even more flammable and covering me and the vehicle. i have gone to many different gas stations since and have the problem every time i fill the tank. the problem also occurs when i hold the pump and try to limit the fuel flow. here is a video of the issue (not my jeep) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zouvokeolo8 there are hundreds, if not thousands of people with the same issue. the only dealer recommend fix is to replace the fuel tank which is a costly repair for what i fell is a safety concern. *tr

During the last 6 fuel fill-ups, fuel is ejected from the filler tube of my 2007 jeep wrangler sahara. this is during a normal fill-up, not top off.

2007 jeep wrangler jk sahara - every time i fill up with gas, the pump will not automatically shut off until the gas overflows. i have spoken with quite a few other jeep owners and they are all experiencing the same issues. this is very dangerous due to the amount of gasoline that is spilled onto the ground and could lead to a fire. the dealer indicates the only way to repair this issue is to replace the entire gas tank at my expense. i do not agree with this fact due to the fact that it is a safety concern and affects other owners more often than not. *tr

While filling the gas tank at a major gas suppliers station the nozzle shutoff (clicked) indicating the tank was full then the tank burped gas out around the nozzle. it splashed down the side of the jeep and onto the bumper. this was the first time this has happened when filling the tank. *tr

Gasoline sprays from the fuel filler during refueling on a 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited creating a fire hazard and environmental contamination. this issue occurs nearly every weekly fill-up and is increasing in frequency. *tr

Started having a problem with my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited at around 50k miles. when filling up at a gas station on a trip to the mountains. when the auto shutoff at the pumped clicked off the gas came spewing out of the file hole. i considered it a one time fluke and that possibly the gas pump was defective. as time went on it did not matter what gas station i went to the problem occurred more and more frequently. now the only way to avoid an overflow is to stop filling at around 15 gallons and slowly top off the tank by carefully listening for the fuel level and easing the fuel into the tank. my concern is the amount of fuel spilling out on the pavement is a safety hazard. one spark could be disastrous for myself of someone who follows me at the pump. i have read where many other jeep owners with the same year and model are experiencing a similar problem. i feel this issue needs to be addressed with chrysler corporation before someone gets hurt. *tr

Starting about 12-15 gas fill-ups ago, my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited 4x4 rubicon started to eject fuel out of the gas filler tube about a second after the pump automatically shut off. i have not changed any procedure during fill-ups and have used the same gas pumps and gas stations for the last 2 years -- this started out of the blue. when the gas overflows, it ejects with enough pressure to cover the gas cap hanging below with gas, and saturates the side of the jeep and bumper, dropping a good amount of gas on the ground (probably about a 2.5 - 3 foot radius of a puddle). the first time it happened, my hand was covered in gas, and i estimate about a half gallon of gas was ejected. it now happens every time during a fill-up unless i stop the gas pump before the tank is close to full. i have listened attentively during a few fill-ups, and have shut off the pump once i hear a change in sound that the tank is near full -- and this still results in fuel ejecting from the filler tube, but just not as much. i can no longer rely on the pump auto shut off even at low filling speeds, and i can no longer fill the tank to it's previously normally full capacity. i am very concerned about the safety of this, not only to me and my passengers, but the other patrons around me -- not to mention the environmental impact of the gas spills. there are no known fixes, and it appears, according to jeep forums, that this is becoming a very common problem, with the latest updates that chrysler completely replacing gas tanks only under warranty, and with no apparent updates to keep it from occurring again in the future. my jeep has just come out of warranty around the end of september, due to mileage. i now have 40,000 miles on the jeep, and i estimate this started at about 35,000 miles. *tr

Starting a few months ago my 2007 jeep wrangler with 51000 miles, started to have issues when refueling. when filing up the tank, shortly after the auto shut-off kicks in, gas will spray out of the filler. this issue just started and appears to happen at all gas stations. i currently do not fill my up jeep all the way to prevent this from happening, but this is a pretty big safety concern. my wife will not get gas in this car due to this issue as well. my vehicle is out of warranty. after reading about this online, it appears there are many jeep wrangler owners (2007 and newer) who have the same issue. some dealers are replacing the gas tanks, but most are not admitting there is any issue. due to this being a big safety issue, i wanted this reported and maybe there could be a recall. *tr

2007 jeep wrangler unlimited, everytime i fill up the gas tank using the auto shut-off feature of the gas pump, not topping off, the gas gushes out of the filler tube. every single time since about 35000 miles on the odometer. gas goes everywhere. about a quart i'd say hits the ground. since the jeep is out of warranty, i just live with it. i still fill up but i only put in a few gallons at a time, stop, pull the nozzle out, and put in a few more. gas still comes out but not as much. *tr

2007 jeep wrangler unlimited fuel overflow cut off does not work. every time i pump gas and fill up with the automatic fuel trigger engaged, the cut off does not prevent fuel from surging out of the overflow and the mouth of the gas tank spilling it on the ground. i have to slowly pump the last gallon to fill up or else it will overflow. there are multiple dates of incident. *tr

When filling the fuel tank, the tank overflows out of the spout before shutting off the pump. fuel sprays out onto the vehicle, the ground, and the person standing near the spout. this creates a fire hazard and health hazard. this occurs at every fill-up. *tr

I have a 2007 jeep jk wrangler 4 door. when i fill the gas tank up, it will not stop on its own. it overflows a lot of gasoline down the side of the vehicle and all over the ground. it spills quite a bit of gasoline and leaves quite a big puddle. *tr

Every time i put gas in the tank it overfills and spills all over car, ground, pump and me.....has been occurring since i hit 30-32k miles and now i have 37k miles (past warranty of course). i have tried different stations in different cities all same problem. dealer will not address this very dangerous issue unless i pay them for an inspection etc... *tr

Gas tank continually overflows when filling. if i stop the pump prior to being full a second or two later the gas comes pouring back up the filler tube. this is a very dangerous situation and to my understanding it is a widespread problem. in addition to the danger of this i believe there is an environmental impact with this as well. *tr

Normal vehicle use. no visible failure, however the fuel tank has an internal failure/defect that does not allow the air to vent during filling of the fuel tank. this causes the fuel to shoot out of the filler cap during normal filling, spilling approximately 1 quart of gasoline on the bumper and ground. it occurs during every fill up at any gas station. i took it to the dealer and they did nothing and informed me if i wanted it to work properly i would have to purchase an entire new gas tank. vehicle is just 2 years old and less than 60,000 miles. i expressed safety concerns and the dealership did not care. *tr

Every time i fill my gas tank on my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon, it overfills spilling gas. the pump cuts off then the gas spews back out. the spill creates a puddle on the ground underneath the jeep and coats the gas pump handle and the jeep body and bumper with gas. *tr

I have a jeep jk wrangler 2007 unlimited. i have owned it for almost 3 years and have never had this problem until now. i was filling my gas tank at my regular station at my regular pump (i live in a small town) and when the tank filled up gas began gushing out. i had to manually shut off the gas nozzle and got gas all over me. this could have been a tragic incident had a spark flown from a car passing by or someone thrown a cigarette out the window. i really thought nothing of it until the next day when i was looking through some forums i frequent (www.jk-forum.com) and saw there was a thread on this exact subject. this seems to be an issue with this model of jeep wrangler. please have someone look in to this before someone gets seriously hurt (if they haven't already) in the meantime, i've tried 2 different stations and it's overflowed one time and the other time it did not. thank you for your time, kollins bull a concerned consumer *tr

With 1/3 to 1/2 tank of gas, the vehicle will stall (and not restart) if idled facing downhill for a couple of minutes. this has happened when parallel parking as well as sitting at a red light in traffic. in order to restart the vehicle you must be able to drift it to level ground. obvious issue in drifting are no power steering, no power brakes, and the availability of a safe level area out of traffic. certainly, you should not expect to run out of gas with up to a half tank remaining. *tr

Two main problems - the gas tank was replace on my 2008 jeep wrangler due to over flow problems, after reading a few discussion boards i noticed this is a huge problem. when filling the gas tank the auto shut off would signify that the tank was full, upon pulling the nozzle about a pint of gas would blow back at you. my local dealership did replace the tank, but i think this is a major danger and should be looked into. my second problem is that the jeep will stall for no reason. this has happened three times. the entire electrical system shorts out for a brief moment. no power brakes, no lights, no radio. again discussion boards have been discussing this issue with the jeeps. in both above cases jeep turned a blind eye, my local dealership replaced the tank at their own expense after jeep dismissed the claim. please look into these dangerous situations, before somebody is maimed or killed. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chrysler jeep wrangler. while driving 40mph down a steep hill, the engine shut off. the vehicle lost the power steering and brakes. the fuel gage displayed empty; however, the vehicle had a 1/2 a tank of gas. the dealer has been unable to diagnose the failure. the contact conducted a test four times and each time after 4 minutes the engine stalled, began to coast and the engine shut off. the mechanic was in the vehicle on one of those occasions. the current and failure mileage were 900. there were no injuries.

I was going down a steep hill on a remote trail with a half a tank of gas. after 10 minutes the fuel gauge showed empty and the engine died, i lost my brakes just when i needed them the most. i could not stop the car and we plunged down the very very steep hill with no way to stop or to steer. for some reason in a steep down hill the engine did notnot get fuel. losing brakes and steering power just when it is needed the most is an accident and a law suite waiting to happen. *ak
