Abs, traction control and esp lights all went on and stayed on. i do not believe that any of these systems was working, as the vehicle spun out at under 40 miles per hour on damp pavement the day after lights went on. took vehicle to dealership, and was told it was a wiring problem. charge was more than $300.00. told i had to pay because i had more than $36,000 miles on vehicle. *tr

Brakes lock up when taking right hand, descending turns. i've had vehicle lifted by dealer and have had it in the dealers repair department 4 times and the problem still exists. now they refuse to fix the problem and have voided my extended service warranty because of the lift kit they sold me. *tr

While driving my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara on the i35 north at approximately 70 mph, a slight bump caused a violent shaking of the tires and suspension system. the vehicle was nearly impossible to control, the steering wheel nearly shook out of my grasp. braking compounded the issue. i was able to veer the vehicle to the shoulder on the road, where a lower speed allowed the vehicle to recover. the same thing occurred nearly 1 hour later as i returned home. this situation is not isolated to me or my vehicle, it has been coined as the jeep death wobble by hundreds of people online.

Inspection mechanic informed that at 48,000 miles the rear rotors are worn out. i cannot find any after market rotors only mopar. the front rotors are good and this just should not be. the front rotors should wear out first since the front should be doing most of the stopping at like 60 to 70 percent. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler 4x4. while driving 45 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle and it shifted from left to right. he drove into a ditch, but was able to drive to his residence at 5 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the front differential bracket failed. the dealer would not repair the vehicle because it had a tire modification. the esp sensor was reprogrammed three times, but the brakes continued to lock. the manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer to have the front differential bracket replaced under warranty. the current mileage was 21,000 and failure mileage was 16.

Uncontrolled reverse rolling / brake failure: 2007 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited 4 door model. while i'm sure that no one will want to hear of a vehicle taken off-road, the rubicon is marketed & designed to do just such activities and does them extremely well. i have owned at least 12 jeep vehicles and this one is absolutely amazing for it's capabilities. i love it & can't say enough positive. problem: when attempting to go up a steep hill, if you have to stop and roll back, the brake pedal goes 'stiff' and allows vehicle to free roll backwards until you smash into something which makes it stop. doesn't happen every time, but it's happened 3 separate times to me in my 900 mi i have on the vehicle. the pedal is totally stiff and the brakes will not apply. this most recent incident occurred over this past weekend and i almost ran over two people that were on foot behind the vehicle as i was allowed to roll uncontrolled backwards until i smashed into a rock approx 30' from where i wanted to stop. thankfully the rock was large enough to stop the jeep since i was on a pretty serious hill and no clue how far i would have rolled until most certainly a tree would have had to stopped me. in the stopping, i broke off a rear shock as i hit the rock. i've been driving jeep vehicles for over 25 years. i consider myself a very capable off-road driver and very comfortable in the situation & vehicle. i have been in this same off-road situation hundreds and hundreds of times. these 3 events are like nothing i've ever experienced ever. total non-usage of the brakes, pedal becoming stiff as a board with no grabbing at all. letting off and attempting to hit pedal doesn't assist at all. you're on a wild free roll ride backwards. very scary & dangerous. chances are, i'm going to have to pull the fuse on the electronic brake control system since it's truly going to injure someone either inside my jeep or anyone behind me sooner or later. *jb

2007 jeep wrangler 4-door 6000 miles. first incident: sunny clear dry road conditions. took exit ramp off expressway and while attempting to stop at intersection the brakes failed. pedal went to the floor and jeep did not stop. after pumping brakes with no response i had to stop jeep by shifting into park. i was able to drive it, with brakes functioning less than a half mile home. i had the jeep towed (covered by warranty) the next morning. dealer inspected and test drove without being able to repeat problem. conclusion was no problem. second incident: sunny clear dry road conditions. took exit ramp off expressway and while attempting to stop at intersection the brakes failed. this time i held brakes to floor and the brakes eventually kicked-in and stopped the jeep. this time i drove to dealer and after another inspection of the jeep there was no problem found?!? fortunately, both incidents did not result in any accidents as i was able to stop the jeep prior to entering the intersection. i'm praying there isn't a 3rd incident! *tr

When coasting to a stop, going uphill on a highway, the brake pedal locks-up when you put your foot on the brake. after a few seconds, it releases and brakes normally. this has happened 3 times at the same intersection (may 2007, august 2007, sept. 2007). all three times resulted in near-miss accidents. the vehicle was in for repair for this problem, but the dealer could not replicate it. even though he could not replicate the problem, the service manager advised us to get rid of the car because it was an obvious safety issue. on 9/14, while the car was still at the dealer, chrysler announced a recall for this incident and advised customers that had experienced this problem to take the car to the dealer immediately. ours has now been there for 6 weeks, with no end in sight. we have also had the engine stall when traveling on a twisty road near our residence. this has happened 1 time. this problem has occurred in the same model as ours, but was believed to have been addressed before ours was built. however, we still have the problem and no solution from chrysler. *jb

Vehicle: 2007 jeep 4 door wrangler (unlimited) experienced complete loss of brakes while coasting uphill. i was approaching us-221 from a secondary road traveling uphill towards a stop sign. when i removed my foot from the accelerator and applied the brakes the pedal went to the floor making a grinding noise. i had no brakes to stop as i approached this busy highway which is heavily traveled by tractor trailers. i managed to stop the vehicle with the emergency brake just before entering the intersection. there was no stall from the engine during the whole event. if i had not acted quickly and panicked it is quite possible me and my family could have been severely injured or possible killed by entering this busy 55 mph highway. i was forced to leave the vehicle in the road and had to direct traffic around it for 1-1/2 hours while i waited for the chrysler's tow truck. once again this created a dangerous situation for me and people entering the intersection. vehicle is at dealer however dealer states he cannot find anything wrong with it and is waiting for a reply from chrysler on what to do. chrysler stated yesterday on 9-17-07 that there is no recall for this item on my vehicle. national news states otherwise. extremely dangerous problem with truck. *jb

I had my vehicle electrical and brakes cut out 3 times (almost in an accident twice). i spoke to a dealership near me 3 times and one time they tried to replicate it. they said they did not know what caused it. through searching on this site, i found that it was a common problem and a recall (g25-reprogram tipm-engine stall) to fix it. the dealership played dumb to the issue until proof was shown, but still would not fix it because my vin# did not match recall specific list. chrysler also would not ok them to fix it (ref#16730876) because i did not have the right vin#, eventhough it is the right model, year, symptoms, etc. chrysler did not care that it was a safety issue and that it could be solved. i was told to try to replicate it for the dealership. concerned for safety, i went back to the dealership where i bought it. they instantly knew about the issue described and reprogrammed the tipm with no charge (they obviously understood the danger). chrysler needs to expand their recall list and change its policy on such a dangerous situation. luckily there was some humanity still around at the place where i bought it. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chrysler jeep wrangler. while driving 40mph down a steep hill, the engine shut off. the vehicle lost the power steering and brakes. the fuel gage displayed empty; however, the vehicle had a 1/2 a tank of gas. the dealer has been unable to diagnose the failure. the contact conducted a test four times and each time after 4 minutes the engine stalled, began to coast and the engine shut off. the mechanic was in the vehicle on one of those occasions. the current and failure mileage were 900. there were no injuries.

I have a 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited x, automatic with 10,500 miles. i was traveling down an on ramp going about 40mph, light on the throttle and the jeep hesitated, all of the gauges (speedometer, etc) shut off (showed 0), then all of the dash lights came on. during that 2 second period, i had no power steering, brakes or control over the throttle of the jeep. this could have been much worse. i know there is a recall that covers this, but my jeep falls out of the production date to get it taken care of. the build date is feb. of 2007. i am not the only one with the problem and the current recall is not taking care of this issue. this needs to be address before someone (like my family) gets seriously hurt. http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=2634. *tr
