I experienced death wobble twice yesterday. the first happened in a curve with oncoming traffic. there was no obstruction in the road. the second was shortly after on a straight stretch. again, no obstruction in the road. this was so severe my passenger had to help steady the wheel to keep me from crashing into oncoming traffic. there are no after market parts and no lift installed on the jeep. *tr

The past couple years i've noticed my jeep having a wobble while crossing 60mph, below 57 it stopped above 63 it stopped. i had new tires and balance completed. the wobble was still present. while driving down a 4-5% grade on state route 285 (4 lane divided highway most of the way) i touched the brakes and the front end started to violently wobble.. enough to rip the steering wheel from my hands. this almost put me into oncoming traffic. the wobble finally stopped at 25mph. the tires chirped in tune to the vibration. i have to assume from loss of contact with the road. the vehicle jerked side to side during this wobbling. once stopped i checked under the front end and only noted that my stabilizer was now leaking fluid and was bent. this happened around july 18th with my 8 year old in the vehicle. once i was able to get the vehicle back to town i took off the old track bar, did this due to the overwhelming number of posts on the internet. i took off the original bar and noted the back side of the upper and lower brackets hollowed out or oblonged. i removed the track bar and placed the bolts back into the mounts and wiggled them to assess if the mounts were out of round. i noted the bottom back mounting hole had approx. 1/4 inch of movement and the top back mounting hole had 1/8 inch of movement. i am currently seeing a jeep certified mechanic to have stainless steel washers added to the brackets to eliminate the source of the shaking. the mechanic stated this is a known issue that the brackets were made thinner then previous years. he also stated the washer fix is also a known solution to this issue. however i noted there isn't a smooth pivot surface on the bolts they are threaded and ate into the steel insert in the track bar bushing. i expected to find a bolt with a smooth surface for the bushing to ride on and threaded end for the nut. *tr

While driving my 2007 wrangler, i hit a small bump on the freeway and the jeep started shaking violently to the point i could barely hold onto the wheel. i was actually on my way to the dealer to have a different recall serviced, so the service department looked at it. i was told that this is a common problem, and that all it would take is about $300 to replace the steering damper because the factory ones always leak. *tr

As a citizen of the united states of america with constitutional rights and consumer rights, this is regarding the old/new chrysler jeep death wobble corruption by all parties involved..affecting 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 chrysler jeeps. after much research this chrysler jeep design/manufacture defect has existed for many, many years but the fact of the matter is the defect was not redesigned or designed out as far as chrysler and nhtsa are concerned, this dangerous and life threatening defect does not exist and will never cause death!, only crashes and accidents! we as consumers are liable for any negative outcome due to the jeep death wobble; and when the consumer gets in a crash, accident, injures someone, kills someone due to this defect, unless we can prove it was the jeep death wobble that chrysler and nhtsa say is not a safety issue or of concern (even though thousands upon thousands of jeep consumers beg to differ) we are liable for chrysler's safety defect that causes crashes and accidents that may lead to death to the consumer and those drivers sharing the road. drivers sharing the road also have a right to have jeep consumers driving safe vehicles. chrysler states chrysler jeeps are built differently chrysler consumers state what is different than safe??!!! nhtsa, an agency of the executive branch of the united states government and part of the department of transportation, describes its mission as save lives, prevent injuries, reduce vehicle related crashes. nhtsa is supposed to be promoting safety to all vehicles on the road not contributing to unsafe jeeps or any dangerous vehicles on the road! nhtsa is also denying the truth and leaving us the jeep consumers liable when they have thousands upon thousands of reports on the jeep death wobble (also known as the ?steering shimmy?) and all the stories are the same. *tr

At certain speeds, my front end shimmies on the road. i took the jeep into a dealership in early april to address the vibration and they changed out the ball joints. they said they could find no evidence of the vibration. i picked the jeep up and it was still there. i scheduled a follow up appointment with them but, on the 9th of april, i was driving on i 495 in washington dc and the vehicle began shaking so bad that i had to pull over and get off the road. i thought i was going to be flung into a guardrail or another vehicle, it was shaking so bad. i called jeep and they opined that i had screwed something up with an aftermarket install for a suspension. however, my jeep is completely stock. i have not altered anything on it and certainly hadn't added a suspension. i have checked around and apparently, this problem is pretty rampant. the violence of the shaking is extreme and i am surprised somebody hasn't lost control and died over this already. i am a large man and it took all my strength to get the thing under control and into a safe area where i could decrease speed. i sincerely hope you will look into this matter before someone gets hurt., thank you, major jason hatch us army

While driving my 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara on the i35 north at approximately 70 mph, a slight bump caused a violent shaking of the tires and suspension system. the vehicle was nearly impossible to control, the steering wheel nearly shook out of my grasp. braking compounded the issue. i was able to veer the vehicle to the shoulder on the road, where a lower speed allowed the vehicle to recover. the same thing occurred nearly 1 hour later as i returned home. this situation is not isolated to me or my vehicle, it has been coined as the jeep death wobble by hundreds of people online.

I am writing to you because i do not know where else to go with this. something needs to be done by chrysler and something fast before something serious happens to someone. i have a 2007 jeep wrangler 4 door sahara and i am experiencing with it what is called the death wobble, if you were to search about this on the internet, you will see i am not the only one that this is happening to. i have called the dealership where i got the jeep and automatically they tell me that i need to have my stabilizer bar replaced and that it would cost me $250. i will tell you by all the complaints that i have seen on the internet that that will not fix the problem. i do not have the money to sink into this jeep for something that they say is going to fix it and it does not. what i experience when i hit a bump going about 50 is a violent shaking in the front end of my jeep to the point that i have to slow down to almost 20 mph to get it under control. i have also experienced it coming down a hill and when i put the brake on and the violent shaking happens again, but when i put the brake on to slow down it does it worse. i am very scared to drive my jeep and i am afraid for my family and our lives in this jeep, when i use to love it. if this is a steering stabilizer problem then i think that chrysler needs to take responsibility for this. i am sure if you ran a story about this, tons of people will come forward with the same thing. my mother in law has a 2009 jeep wrangler 4 door and the same thing is happening to hers. she has had new tires put on it, balanced, and an alignment. she has had it to the dealer twice and they tell her nothing is wrong with the jeep. my friend also has 2007 jeep wrangler 4 door and hers does it too. i am so tired of having a vehicle that i pay good money for and i am afraid to drive it. search for death wobble jeep and you will see.

While traveling on interstate at posted speeds every rough patch of roadway or going over a bridge (bump entering or exiting bridge) the steering wheel would shake violently. i would let off gas, gently apply brake and pull onto shoulder to get control back of vehicle. sometimes i would have to come to a complete stop before the shaking would stop other times between 5 to 20 mphs the shaking would stop. this was a 300 mile trip home, i reduced speed to see if this would decrease the effects, it seem to help where roads were smoother but happened nearly just the same. the vehicle is equiped with electronic stability control which never activated. it has happened numerous time since dec 17 2011

My 2007 jeep wranger unlimited x 4x4, which is all stock and was purchased new, has developed the appropriately named death wobble which consists of violent shaking of the front end and steering wheel when hitting even a minor bump or depression in the road at speeds in excess of 45 mph. the shaking is so severe that one believes you feel as though you are about to die due to loss of control of the vehicle. the only way to stop the shaking is to come to an abrupt stop. inattentive drivers may not be aware of what is happening and this may cause an accident as the jeep driver is forced to brake. my warranty has expired and when i contacted the jeep dealership, they acted as though they had never heard of this. i took it to an independent mechanic who stated this was a rather common occurance and that it would cost about $1700 to fix with replacing u-joints, and adding a stablizer bar. from on-line testimonials, i am learning that this is simply a bandaid fix and that the ball joints and steering dampener need to be replaced for a true fix. i cannot believe that with as many problems as have been reported that chrysler-jeep has not issued a recall. i have parked my jeep for now while deciding what to do. my conscious will not allow me to trade it or sell it with the defect that i am aware of. i guess chrysler-jeep does not share my values. why hasn 't there been any litigation over this issue? where are all the lawyers when you need them??

While driving thru construction at approximately 45 mph my 2007 jeep wrangler sahara unlimited started shaking and wobbling violently. it was so terrifying and we had no idea what was happening. my daughter and i were taking my grandson to children's hospital and had another 70 miles to travel ahead of us and were scared to continue in this vehicle. we had to slow to almost a stop to get it to stop wobbling. we got off the hwy and found a jeep dealer who rented us a car to finish our trip as they tried to repair my jeep. i had only bought it 34 days before this happened but have owned jeeps for the last 18 years. when we retrieved the jeep, they replaced the steering dampener shock and said i should consider upper and lower ball joints. we made it home slowly afraid it may happen again. my fiance and i took it to the dealer we got it from the next morning and left it there for them to examine, they said the ball joints look fine and could not find anything wrong. we did some research and found that we are not alone it is called death wobble and with good reason, it feels like you are going to die. the next day we had a meeting with the salesman and his manager, they said we need to put in a complaint with chrysler and the would speak to their chrysler rep. as they have never heard of it. that day it happened again when my fiance was driving it as he was getting on an off ramp at 50 mpr. this is a very dangerous defect that could kill someone. i know if i trade it in some other family will get it and i don't want anyone else to go thru this. please please help us.

Whenever my 2007 jeep his a bump at speeds over 45mph, it begins the death wobble. it shakes as if ready to fall apart. it occurs mostly on the highway, where i need to hold on tight and slow as quickly as possible to a near stop. this is extremely dangerous! i will not let my tree teenagers drive the car. apparently this is happening to all 2007 wranglers. this needs to be recalled!

When driving my 2007 4-door jeep wrangler on the interstate 4 weeks ago i noticed that when i hit a hole in the road or a bump the entire vehicle shook, causing the steering wheel to shake back and forth causing me to almost skip lanes and almost hit a semi truck in the next lane. the next day i called the dealership that i purchased this vehicle from used about 5 months ago (10,000 miles ago). i have made 3 trips to the dealership in the past 4 weeks and the shaking has become worse. the last 2 days while driving to and from work, i literally thought that the right front tire was going to come off or that the frame was going to brake! i pulled off of the interstate many times on my 30 mile trip and didn't drive over 40mph. i asked the mechanic at the dealership to drive the jeep with me on the interstate today. he said that he has no idea what is wrong but it felt like the entire frame is violently shaking. i feel very unsafe driving this vehicle as i am unable to control it when this occurs. i should mention 2 more things...1. this only occurs when one side of the vehicle hits a bump, not when both tires hit at the same time, like hitting a pot hole with left tire. 2. many owners of this excact make and model are having the same issue. i have been looking on-line and there are multiple site with hundreds of people who, despite spending a lot of money replacing part after part contiue to have this safety issue. i have reveived a recall notice about the lack of temperature control of the cooling system but chrysler has not addressed this problem and they should. someone is going to die from this design flaw and it must be addressed soon. i don't know what to do. i have to travel the interstate to get to work.

2007 jeep wrangler unlimited - front end shakes violently at or above 55 mph after hitting small bump in road. steering wheel shakes back and forth violently, feels like wheels are goign to fall off or car will flip over - complete loss of control unless you slow down to 35mph - which is not easy to do on the highway in traffic. this occurs almost daily. to date we have replaced the track bar, replaced the tires, had the vehicle re-alligned and tires balanced. next step is to replace the steering stabilizer. so far no permanent fixes. *tr

Jeep 07 wrangler rubicon unlimited four door. front track bar bracket failure. the metal is very thin and very poorly welded, on the outside only. this leads to weakness and failure, particularly under high stress driving maneuvers such as heavy braking on a downhill corner, driving on snow or ice, hitting potholes or speed bumps. once separated, the front axle then follows whatever groove exerts the most force, creating a dangerous and unacceptable loss of control over the vehicle. *tr

I purchased my 2007 jk with 3,000 miles. from the very beginning, it has had the violent, shaking, uncontrollable problem referred to as the death wobble. although this seems to be common, i hardly think this is acceptable. i have been through three different suspension systems, have rotated my tired religiously (every oil change), have replaced three steering stabilizers, and now i am completely at a loss of new ideas. i have changed bushings, bearings, tightened the track bar, and tried every different adjustment to think of. nothing has worked. when the death wobble occurs, i am completely out of control inside the vehicle and fear for the safety of my passengers, normally my wife and my five year old daughter. the dealership has nothing to offer, local suspension shops are at a loss, and obviously my experience pales in comparison. there has to be some way to repair this problem? *tr

2007 wrangler unlimited sahara with 24,000 miles when issue began. issue is called death wobble. it is so true to it's name. it feels like one tire has come completely off the vehicle and you are required to act immediately to ensure you can get off the road safely away from others before you cause an accident. it is so severe you could cause an accident just by people swerving to get as far away from you as possible. my jeep is going in for the 5th time on this issue. i have spent 5 months trying to get this resolved. the dealership has done all they can do. they have tried everything and still now the wobble occurs up to 7 times in a mere 30 min drive on the highway. i have called chrysler many times and spent hours on the phone. no one helps cares or even speaks decent english. they just continue to take messages and read scripting. i now am left with a $30,000 jeep that is not safe for me and my 2 kids. i can

In november 2008, while driving approximately 60 mph, vehicle began to shake violently and uncontrollably after hitting a small bump in the road. vehicle had to be pulled off the road and stopped to abate the vibration and regain control. took to dealer and dealer replaced the steering stabilizer shock. then, in february 2008, the problem recurred. dealer recommended the installation of a heavy duty stabilizer shock. upon picking up the vehicle from the dealer, the problem was significantly worse. vehicle could not be driven on the highway without experiencing the death wobble, as it is commonly referred to. vehicle has been back to the dealer 4 more times for retorquing of the suspension and various other potential fixes. nothing has fixed or even mitigated the problem. vehicle's condition continues to worsen and is now virtually undriveable. even though under warranty, the dealership/chrysler will do nothing else. through research on this internet site and several jeep sites, i have learned that this is a common and dangerous problem. yet chrysler seems unwilling to openly consider a possible defect or even investigate my problem further. i called jeep/chrysler three times on 3/10/09 and was mysteriously disconnected during each call. *tr

Hello, i bought a new 2007 jeep wrangler and have been having what the industry calls the death wobble since the vehicle was new and it is now in for the 4th repair attempt and dealership is telling me that there is nothing they can do to fix it and that they can't replicate the problem this time, although they have now repaired it 3 times now over the last 2 years and were able to replicate the problem each of the other times. now my new vehicle warranty is within 200 miles of expiring now and i have a broken car that is in no way safe to drive. i will be driving to the mountains to ski this weekend in a snow storm so it should be scary as this is my only car. a simple search for my model year jeep online and death wobble will return an unlimited amount of information. obviously i am not the only consumer with this complaint. can you please advise whom i should contact to address this matter? i don't want to die or kill anyone. the death wobble occurs when i encounter a bump in the road at speeds over ~40mph and must be slowed to a near stop to make it quit. i can't seem to get anyone at chrysler to help me and the dealers can't fix it, what do i do? *tr

2007 jeep wrangler unlimited with approx. 15,000 miles. when driving between 40-50 mph and hit a small bump, front end begins a sustained violent shaking that requires the vehicle be nearly stopped before shaking goes away. has happened five times (highway on ramp, highway off ramp, straight driving on city street and on county road). initial dealer response was that they had not heard of this before and said it drove fine. two more incidents and a phone call to the dealer and they said that there is a huge problem with the four door jeep wrangler and that there is a national back order on the steering damper. i am on the list for these when they become available at the end of the month. *tr

Violent front end shimmy known as death wobble. occurs at speeds of 40-50 mph. vehicle shakes violently and is uncontrollable. initially, tapping the brakes and slowing slightly would stop the shaking, but problem has progressed to the point that the vehicle needs to come to almost a complete stop to stop the shaking. this is a safety issue as the shaking poses an accident risk by virtue of losing control of the vehicle and/or a rear end collision, as there is nothing else to do but bring the vehicle to a sudden stop in order to regain control. this issue is well documented online and is the subject of technical service bulletin 19-003-06 (august of 2006). it should be noted, however, that this tsb does not fix the problem, it only masks the problem by adding a steering stabilizer.

Defect is called death wobble in variious jeep wrangler years and models. mine is a 2007 wrangler x unlimited. i was told by dealer the problem was mud impaction around and inside of wheels. removing all mud did not fix problem. worsened problem after cleaning. replaced front stabilizer bar3 weeks ago. problem continues... which is:while driving on a rough road or hitting a bump or even modestly shallow pothole, front end and steering begins shaking, wobbling, quaking to point of vehicle being completely out of control and is almost if not completely impossible to control which is managed by braking to complete halt. have narrowly averted collisions and complete vehicle control several times in the last 3 months. really afraid to drive jeep, nor can i ethically or effectively sell vehicle without notifying buyer or this serious, bodily and life threatening defect. vehicle is worthless because of this danger

During normal operation of the vehicle at speeds above 40 mph, the vehicle shakes uncontrollably after hitting a bump in the road. the bump does not have to be large, and can be as small as a bad joint in concrete pavement. the only way to stop the shaking is to slow down the vehicle to a near stop. this occurred on an interstate highway with no shoulder, causing a near-collision.

My 2007 jeep wrangler unlimited shakes violently and becomes uncontrollable if it hits a small bump in the road. this violent shaking is commonly known as death wobble and there are countless documented instances of this in testimonial and video form on the internet. this violent shaking has occurred 6 times, all at speeds between 45-65 mph. the jeep dealership says that chrysler knows of this problem and will not fix it. this is an extremely dangerous defect with this vehicle. the jeep is out of control until it comes to a stop.

 1. during normal driving conditions at speeds above 50mph the front suspension will sometimes go into a violent oscillation. the steering wheel, shimmys so violently that it cannot be controled. the entire vehicle feels like it is coming apart. not a simple wheel balance shimmy, this is a dangerous violent oscillation. 2. it gets progressivly worse as time goes on. 3. it was taken back to the dealership, and they replaced the steering stabilizer which made the problem better, but it came back slightly, and progressively got worse, and worse. there is some underlying problem that the steering stabilizer is masking.

My jeep wrangler has had the death wobble, issues with the safety belts not retracting properly [broke my hand] had stalling and suspension problems, i currently have a chip on the bottom underside of the winshield., when i had the death wobble the dealer told me i had to much weight on the front end from my bumper and winch,[i replaced the stabilizer wobble seems to have went away] they couldn't find a problem with the wobble or seat belts. it was my imagination, what i also had and is documented in the dealer files my accelerator stuck , i was fortunate some one else was driving so i could see his feet and the floor mats nothing was stuck when he stomped on the gas pedal it was just like the cruise control disengaged , my jeep doesn't have cruise control. the brakes scare me at times, feel like their not there from time to time, i tell who ever drives it not to trust the brakes, this is my last new chrysler, my hand still hurts. maybe our goverment should force a recall like they did to toyota to date my jeep has only 22.000 miles on the odometer . good luck all

Severe wobble and oscillation in the steering and front suspension system. a small bump in the road, while driving anywhere between 35-70 mph can initiate a severe, violent shaking, and a complete loss of steering control. after replicating the problem on a private road, observers outside the vehicle noted that the front tires would completely leave the ground on each oscillation. many other jeep wrangler owners report similar incidents. *tr

Driving down the freeway, went across a bridge. the jeep started the death wobble. as soon as it went over the 'bump' on the bridge, the whole jeep started to violently shake, as if the whole thing was falling apart. i had to pull over on the freeway, come to a complete stop. its under warranty, took it to dealer. they suggested an after market steering stabilizer, which i paid for with my own money. the 'death wobble' continues. dealership telling me there's nothing wrong. im pursing the matter. *tr

I have noticed an increase in give / leeway in the steering column at approx 15,000 miles. the problem increased to the point where there is a popping felt through the steering wheel as well as both the accelerator and brake pedals when light pressure is placed on the front wheels while turning (turning at low speeds through traffic circles, going over uneven pavement while turning, small bumps in the road, etc). the feedback felt continues to get worse until the point it feels unsafe to operate the vehicle. i have had the vehicle back into the only 2 jeep dealerships within a 90 mile radius of my place of residence more than 3 times. at first the front end sway bar was replaced, to no avail. the 2nd time the steering column shaft was replaced, with only a short term alleviation of the problem. at first when the shaft was replaced, the steering felt as new (tight, with good control, and no feedback). after less than another 5,000 miles on the new shaft, the problem has returned and continues to get worse (currently at 23,000 miles). after speaking with the service manager at a local jeep dealership, he has indicated there is no problem aware within jeep to his knowledge, but has noted that he has had a few vehicles in his shop with the same problems. *tr

A violent wobble occurs at 60-65 after hitting a bump in road. i have taken it to the dealer three times. chrysler did not have an answer as to why it happens. *tr

Contents are letter forward to terra flex. original sent to vehicle owner. i understand your frustration with us. please look closely at your picture. the tag states clearly the grease zert is to face down. when the heim is installed in this position the arm yoke will not line up with the axle mount off center by 5 inches. this arm uses an offset design heim. i personally spoke with tech support at tera flex and their recommendation was to proceed with installing the arm with the grease zert facing down and the tag facing down. tech stated the arm must have been mislabeled. i advised this will change the suspension symmetry as well as the arm coming in close contact with the frame when the axle reaches travel limits. who ever i spoke with was grossly miss informed. we proceeded under advisement by tera flex and has now made us to be the fool in your eyes. when installing a highly modified suspension package we do so in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations so not to create a safety hazard. this is why i made the necessary contacts with tera flex when the printed installation procedure that came with the kit was not consistent with the part design. i am calling tera flex now. the owner of tera flex shall be advised i will be forwarding a safety advisement to the national highway traffic safety administration. you see , i am a triple master ase certified tech as well as a federal cfr qualified safety inspector. my reputation is set to the side when public safety becomes a predominate concern! i strongly believe the conduct of tera flex poses a clear and present danger to the public welfare, (i.e. high probability of loss of vehicle control causing personal injury or death). i am formally recommending you do not operate this vehicle (vin# ) until such time the lift kit manufacturer, tera flex, issues a public notice of recall or technical service bulletin and provides it to all owners of this kit. *tr

Drive a 2007 4-door wrangler. within 6 months of purchase, hit a small bump going around 50 mph on highway. car steering vibrated uncontrollably moving about 2-inches side to side. no shoulder available (caused other cars to swerve away from me) but after breaking, it eventually stopped. asked dealer service workers (while it was being looked at for second recall for computer/breaks) why this was happening, they claimed that is what jeeps do. happened 4 more times until a witness from the road pulled me over to tell me he thought my right front wheel was going to come off. jeep claimed to have never heard of it before. (there are website about death wobble everywhere). brought to dealer, fixed tie rod. happened again, said it might be a bad tire. will be at my expense. called tire manufacturer, to start a file. *tr

2007 wrangler 4- door unlimited. popping felt through both steering column and gas/brake pedals when going over small bumps. no violent shaking like described in others...just a very uncomfortable popping. the popping has become increasingly more noticeable over a period of about 3,000 miles. the popping is now audible. it has been at jeep 3 times so far, with the only solution being to replace the tie rods to no avail. *tr

I have a stock 2007 wrangler unlimited x,6spd. it is one year old with 24,000kms. at approx. 8,000 kms it started to have a severe wobble in the front end after hitting small bumps at approx. 70 kms or more. the shake is very harsh and hard to control, it is a serious safety issue, the dealership had no answers until recently they tell me that its the tires and i need to get new ones at my own expense. the goodyear rep says that there is no defect with the tires but that chrysler has simply put an insufficient tire on the vehicle...why is this my problem...my vehicle is not safe!!! *tr

I am the owner of a 2007 jeep wrangler and have had a major failure of the steering/suspension of the jeep. in researching this i find the complaint is a rather common failure. do a google of jeep death wobble and scan selected items of 19000 hits for jeeps made from the 1990's to present. the jeep has 9500 miles. the incidence occurred at about a speed of 40-55 miles per hour after riding over frost waves in the road. the jeep went into a violent vibration mode where steering was very difficult and the jeep was out of control. the jeep when slowed to about 30 the vibration disappeared and it was slowly driven to a jeep dealer (owl chrysler jeep) honesdale, pa. eleven days later the jeep was returned perhaps repaired but some things don't seem right. i have met another person with the same / similar problem and on the internet find many complaints of what is referred to as a death wobble. believe me a good description. had this occurred in winter weather, rain or on a curve i would perhaps be a statistic as there for a few seconds no control over the direction or steering of the vehicle. i believe that chrysler knows of this problem for what appears to be years and is still manufacturing vehicles with a design/material flaw. the repair number from owl is: r.o. number 24079 the parts replaced are: front lower control arms and bushings. old parts retained by dealer as perhaps warranty repair. the vehicle has never been driven off road and is basically babied. owl can be contacted at: owl chrysler jeep, inc 250 grandview avenue honesdale, pa 18431 570-253-2640 *tr

When traveling at approximately 60 mph my jeep began to shake violently throwing me to the side of the road and almost causing me to be hit by nearby cars and tractor trailer. i had to be towed off the highway. i was told by the dealer to come and pick it up the following day. they said that they could find anything wrong with it and to take it home. within 1 wk of having the vehicle back the shaking occurred again, this time luckily at a slow rate of speed. after slamming on the brakes the shaking stopped. i took it back to the dealership, this time they re-torqued the front end to chrysler specs. i drove it home and it happened again within days. this time the shop forman said that he was not going to touch the jeep but would be making a call to chrysler. we took it on a test drive to try and replicate the problem. it did not happen while he was driving the vehicle. i left it with him, he called chrysler and told me to come and pick it up. i came and picked up the jeep without anything being done to it. a couple of days later the dealership called and said that they had someone from chrysler coming in to look at the jeep. i brought it back again (4th time), i was told that the person from chrysler replaced the steering. i looked under the vehicle and there appears to be a new part. i have not had the problem again to the extent that it happened the first few times but if i hit even the smallest of bumps the front end bounces (compared to shaking violently) until i brake. i am totally petrified to drive this vehicle and i will under no circumstances let my children ride in it. i will not take it on the highway because i am afraid of what will happen at a rate of speed faster than 30mph. *tr

At highway speeds when the jeep goes over a few bumps in the road it will go it to major shakes that don't stop until you pull off the road and come to a complete stop. *tr

2007 jeep wrangler: rear track bar bracket welds broke, creating a dangerous handling and safety issue. further research on the internet revealed that this is a known issue, common for both modified and stock vehicles, but more so on vehicles which have had a lift kit installed. while the push back may be that it's rare on stock vehicles, jeeps are the most commonly and extensively modified vehicles on the road, and jeep cannot make the claim that they are unaware of this fact based on millions of modified jeeps and chrysler's involvement selling modifications as well as in off road activities for jeeps. additionally, according to my research, chrysler modified it's method of welding the brackets in mid-08. *tr
