VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

2007 jeep wrangler unlimited 4dr 4x4. at speeds over 50 mplh, the front tires begin to shake and wobble violently. the shaking only stopped after i came to a complete stop. this happened after i hit a bumpy road. my jeep has been a street vehicle and really not going on the highway many times. i only have under 9,000 miles. now that i live in california, and i have to drive in highways, i feel very uncomfortable driving speeds over 50 miles per hour.

2007 jeep wrangler 4x4 safari with esp (electronic stability program). esp intermittently turns on by itself and can't be turned off. it will eventually turn itself off. dealer tells me it's caused by a defective clock spring in the steering column, which also controls the steering wheel air bag, cruise control and the horn! i feel this is a safety concern, if any of these devices quit working, because of a defective clock spring!!!!

My jeep wrangler has had the death wobble, issues with the safety belts not retracting properly [broke my hand] had stalling and suspension problems, i currently have a chip on the bottom underside of the winshield., when i had the death wobble the dealer told me i had to much weight on the front end from my bumper and winch,[i replaced the stabilizer wobble seems to have went away] they couldn't find a problem with the wobble or seat belts. it was my imagination, what i also had and is documented in the dealer files my accelerator stuck , i was fortunate some one else was driving so i could see his feet and the floor mats nothing was stuck when he stomped on the gas pedal it was just like the cruise control disengaged , my jeep doesn't have cruise control. the brakes scare me at times, feel like their not there from time to time, i tell who ever drives it not to trust the brakes, this is my last new chrysler, my hand still hurts. maybe our goverment should force a recall like they did to toyota to date my jeep has only 22.000 miles on the odometer . good luck all

Since the day i drove the 2007 4-door jeep wrangler sahara off the dealer's lot the electronic throttle control light kept coming on. i had to pull over every time the light came on and restart the car. i normally could not drive more than 5 miles until i have to pull over to restart the car. after reading about all of the stalling problems people were having i wa sconcerned about my safety and the safety of those riding with me. the stalling seemed to have something to do with the electronic throttle control system. i took vehicle to the dealer once and they did a software upgrade, but could not find any other problems. the light continued to come on. the dealership knew of no problems but after doing a tiny bit of research on the net, i have found that a lot of people were having this problem.*ak

While driving 55 mph my 2007 jeep rubicon ul quickly slowed to about 30 mph. i was still pressing the gas pedal with no response. the vehicle felt like the esp was on, and swerved a little. the red lightning bolt light came on the dash and flashed. this happened once before, and me dealer looked at me jeep and said there was no problem. this is certainly a problem for me. i had a fully loaded log truck behind me when the jeep slowed, and was lucky that he was able to avoid crushing me. i pulled off the road, shut down the ignition and restarted. the light went off and the jeep ran normally. *tr

Stalling problem. occurred 3 times approximately 2-3 months apart. separate situations: 1) february 2007. accelerating through intersection at 40-45 mph engine cut out. all lights on dash illuminated. loss of power for 2-3 seconds, then engine restarted and all power resumed. april 2007. sitting at stop light, normal idle at 600 rpms, without warning, engine just shut off. had to neutral and restart engine. took to dealer and they applied pcm flash updates per service bulletin) june 2007. crawling traffic speed of 10-15 mph and all lights came on dash and engine died. engine did not misfire and started to loose accelerating and power steering and brakes. had to put in neutral to restart engine. pending appointment with dealer at this time.*ak

While driving at roughly 70 mph on highway throttle felt a little weird then the rpms dropped to zero as the electronic throttle control light on the dash came on. immediately headed for the shoulder as i lost power steering and power braking although the electronic steering/braking system was alerted during my swerve towards the shoulder. the vehicle was very unresponsive. upon reaching the shoulder the vehicle stalled. turned off the vehicle, and then restarted it and cautiously returned home. consulted the manual and it appeared that such events were expected and considered normal if the electronic throttle control light did not returned upon restarting the vehicle.*ak the vehicle has shown signs of repeating this trouble and during those times i have let off the throttle, down shifted and then shifted up again in hopes that whatever glitch was occurring would be reset. conditions: late afternoon, 80*f, driving for about 45 minutes manual transmission , stereo was on. *ak

While driving on the highway at 70 mph (cruise control enabled) the car started surging as if someone were pumping the gas pedal. it did this for approximately 10 seconds then the engine died. i was in traffic and it took a few seconds to figure out what had happened. i was lucky to have a manual transmission because the second i pressed on the clutch i lost all power steering and power brake function. i was in the middle of traffic and cars started passing me on either side. this could have easily led to an accident. i will be taking it in to the dealer asap. *jb

While driving the vehicle stalled while coming to a stop. as it idled to ~600 rpms the engine died. the car was restarted, and the vehical stalled again at the next intersection. the only light that was lit was the throttle control warning light. preceeding this occurrence, on 6 separate occasions, the throttle control warning light would come on while driving. the only direction in the manual was to turn the vehicle off and then on again. i have seen several complaints about this stall bug associated with the 2007 jeep wrangler jk. i could only hope that this did not occur again, and am fortunate it occurred while i was at low speeds.*ak
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL - ACCELERATOR PEDAL
02/24/20073500112/04/2006
I was on the freeway with my cruise control on when my vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly slowed down. i moved my foot to the accelerator and found that the vehicle had substantially less power than normal. when the vehicle slowed, the electronic throttle warning light began to flash and the stability control light came on. after pulling off the road and cycling the ignition, the vehicle returned to normal. i brought it to the dealer and they could find nothing wrong. i searched jeepforum.com and found 3 other instances of the electronic throttle having issues. *jb
