Experienced death wobble while traveling on highway between 50 and 65 mph. this is very dangerous and occurred several times on several hour cross state trip. this is extremely scary to driver and passengers as there were vehicles all around us on the highway. first reaction was to slam on brakes which again, very scary as we were on highway traveling at a 60 mph. *tr

Upon driving my 2007 jeep sahara i hit a bump in road, the entire front end started shaking, the tires bouncing from center line to side line. i applied brakes and had to come to a complete stop before it quit. i went to jeep dealer they advised the brake rotors need turned i laughed and did as they asked and got new brakes and new shock stabilizer. it is now december 2012 and it has occurred again 3 times after hitting a bump in the road. i would like for something to be done about this and solution discovered because it seems that chrysler does not believe there is a problem and the service centers are telling people that its the brakes this is laughable. *tr

My 2007 jeep unlimited sahara has the death wobble. occurred several months ago. mechanic couldn't figure it out, but prescribed tire inflation. problem went away until one week ago. can be easily replicated by going over a speed bump at about 25 mph and turning the wheel to the left sharply. alternatively, just traveling above 40-45 mph on a highway, especially on a curve, will replicate. if any other jeep driver has this problem, the only way to protect yourself is to brake slowly, get off the road and drive under 40 mph...and much slower while turning even on side streets. if you must drive on a highway, stay in the slow lane so that you can exit to the shoulder with relative safety, and engage your hazard lights. obviously, these are not practical solutions and ultimate culpability must lie with the manufacturer, who has been put on alert of this persistent problem for many months if not years. very dangerous problem that needs to be repaired by jeep before someone gets killed or seriously hurt. please share these complaints with jeep & the general public (without disclosing the names or specific vin #s).

Steering/suspension. we have had issues with excessive wobbeling and swaying of our jeep. believe this to be premature failure of the tie rods and stabelizing system. this has been very dangerous. fuel system: gas will shoot out of the tank spilling fuel on the outside of the vehicle when fueling.

I have a 2007 jeep wrangler sahara and have recently had increasing incidences occur where the steering will wobble/vibrate causing uncontrollable stearing. it is a feeling like the wheels are falling off or you have flat tires pulling you from side to side. once it starts this process, it seems to increase in incidences and will ususally be triggered by hitting small bumps in the road, ie. construction zone. but, once it occurs, it will have continued instances even when driving over slightly curved/unlevel road. i had to attenpt to pull off i-10 going 65mph w/out stearing control! once slowed to below 30/35mph it seems to get better currently, but continues numerous times later.

Vehicle suffers extreme shaking and wobbling at speeds above 40 mph, becomes particularly worse on lane changes and curved roads. happens whether the surface is wet or dry. the problem is intermittent; meaning, it does not happen all the time, but is particularly worse in mornings when vehicle is cold or has not been driven overnight. the violent shaking makes vehicle nearly impossible to steer or maintain in lane, particularly dangerous on the highway. this is an extremely dangerous condition that requires immediate attention from chrysler/jeep.

Whenever i go to work i have to go up down a mountain, when i brake the front wheels of my jeep wobble out of control, shaking my steering wheel out of control. when i put on my brakes it gets worse, i pulled over because i thought the wheels were going to come off. when i did a man who saw me coming down the mountain said he could see my wheels wobble he thought they were going to fall off!! he moved a bar in the front of my jeep and said this shouldn't move and to have it towed. i had it towed to the nearest jeep dealership they said there was nothing wrong with my car! this happens all the time, i have taken my jeep to three different dealerships and they said nothing was wrong! i have replaced the brakes, tires and had a front end alignment and it still does it. i tried to trade it in but i'm upside down on my loan, so i changed my job because honest to god i thought i was going to die. i have told my family and friends if anything happens to me and i die in my jeep please look into it. i'm afraid of my car!!! and there is nothing at all i can do...how sad! *tr

I own a 2007 4 door 2wd jeep wrangler that has what is known as a death wobble. it shakes violently when breaking while driving onto uneven pavement or divets in the road. this started happening over a month ago after i noticed the steering seemed soft/loose. now if happens almost daily. i am working with the dealership who believe this is a chrysler defect that can not be fixed. chrysler also confirms that this type of problem is indicative to the design of the vehicle. this defect is seriously dangerous and there should be a mandatory recall. however, chrysler can not do a recall for a defect that they can not fix. yesterday, i took a certified tech on a test drive and the violent shaking happen within ten minutes while accessing an on ramp. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep wrangler sahara. the contact stated that when driving over small bumps the vehicle would shake which almost caused a loss of control. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, and a technician coined the term death wobble to express a common failure with this model. he then added that they have not developed a remedy for the failure. the failure and current mileages were 49000. updated 10/23/09 *bf the consumer stated the steering locked up. updated 10/26/09
