SUSPENSION | |||
05/01/2012 | 1 | ||
Letter to the administrator from congressman transmitting a letter from a constituent who is the owner of a jeep repair shop (jeep suspension issue). *kb the issue was known as the death wobble. the consumer stated replacing the steering dampener was a means of masking the real problem. the consumer believed the problem was the trac bar. the trac bar's sole purpose is to keep the front axle centered and connected to the vehicle's chassis. without the trac bar, the front axle has no limit to the amount of horizontal movement it can obtain, rendering the affected vehicle uncontrollable. the consumer stated the slightest movement of the trac bar, can cause a high speed wobble. the consumer believed the reason the 2006 and newer models are experiencing the death wobble so frequently is due to the redesign of the trac bar. previously, the trac bar consisted of a lower mounted rubber bushing to secure the bar to the axle and an upper ball joint pivot type joint that connected the bar to the frame. *jb | |||
