I ride my bike every day to work. it is garaged and when outside it is always covered. i have never taken the bike off road or dirt trail riding. the bike has never fallen, been dropped or knocked over. when i pulled the cover off on 9/20/2008 at 1957hrs to head home i found that the left front turn signal was snapped off at the faring. *tr

Front and rear turn signals fall off. they are designed to fall off when struck by another object, but in reality, they fall off during normal use of the vehicle. the turn signals do not have to touch anything to fall off. when they fall off they are hanging by a wire and flop around. at this point, your turn signals are useless. this has happened 6 times in one year. i was offered no assistance or acknowledgement of the problem by the dealer even during the warranty period, so i replace the turn signal and wait for it to happen again. i have talked to other owners and they are having the same problem. *tr

Right turn signal on 2008 kawasaki klr 650 break in two. *tr
09/12/200813001
I have a 2008 kawasaki klr 650 dual purpose motorcycle with less than 1500 miles that is kept in a climate controlled garage. a few months ago, i noticed that the right rear turn signal was hanging by the wire powering it, and that the rubber stem which mounts the turn signal was torn. i assumed at that time that a family member had accidentally bumped it and knocked it off. i removed it completely to keep it from causing further damage and noticed that the rubber was very delicate and tore easily. yesterday, 9-12-08, i found that also while parked, the left front turn signal had fallen off. upon inspection, i found the remaining turn signals to be following suit. all of this has occurred on a motorcycle that is ridden infrequently and stored inside. *tr

Turn signal lights have fallen off, no bumping, no hitting - they just have fallen off. the dealership has replaced one so far, the front right. then the rear left fell off. i'm still waiting (8 weeks now) for the replacement. this is a serious problem if turn signals just randomly fall off. *tr

The rubber supporting two turn indicators on the motorcycle has failed. a front and rear turn indicator were found dangling after rides on different days. i thought i must have accidentally kicked/bumped the indicator when i discovered the first had broken. after the second one broke (discovered after a ride home from my folks 13 miles away), i turned to the internet to try to find out if others were experiencing the same problem. to my surprise, i wasn't alone. many owners of kawasaki klr650 motorcycles are experiencing the same problem. i was able to have both turn indicators replaced under warranty at our local kawasaki dealership (7/18/08). i was told that the indicators would only be replaced under the one year manufacturer's warranty. now that i'm into my extended warranty period (began 7/28/08), items such as these are not covered any longer (only major mechanical issues are now covered). replacing the faulty rubber is not an easy task as kawasaki does not have a part number for this piece. the entire turn signal assembly must be ordered which runs close to $50 each. this is a safety issue and i'm hoping kawasaki decides to recall the 2008 klr650 motorcycles to replace the defective turn indicators. my motorcycle was less than a year old and had less than 1,200 miles on the bike when i brought it in to have the indicators repaired under warranty. *tr

 1. front right turn signal fell off 2008 klr650 after 2000 miles from new of highway use - no accident, bumping or shock to the vehicle involved to have caused it. light stem just fell apart. 2. this leaves the light dangling from its wiring, and other vehicles are unaware of my intentions when turning. 3. i guess i'll have to pay to replace it with another oem part.*tr

Turn signals fall off motorcycle for no reason. bike will be parked and the rubber gives way and you find them dangling by the wire. dealer replaced 3 turn signals already and the 4th has been on backorder for weeks now. had to install an aftermarket set of signals to remedy the problem. *tr

Rotting rubber parts on 2008 kawasaki klr650. the grommet fasteners (wellnuts) that attach the windshield to the fairing are dry rotting. this motorcycle was manufactured in 2007 and rubber parts are already deteriorating. this motorcycle is only in direct sunlight while being ridden. the rest of the time it is parked in my garage or under a shelter at work. the turn signal mounts are also deteriorating. it will only be a matter of time before they fail and the signals are hanging by their wires. *tr

07/22/200810001
While riding down the road my right front turn signal sheared off, it's just hanging by the wires. i took the bike into the dealer, they said it felt like the rubber had not cured, the rubber crumbled to the touch. they order a new signal, 2 days later the left front fell off the same as the right side. my left rear signal is starting to shear off. i brought the bike back to the dealer and they are going to order all four. i talked with another rider with the same problem on the same bike, he stated the dealer ordered a set for him, put them on and within a month they fell off again. *tr

The rubber mounting brackets on my 2008 kawasaki klr 650 turn signals continue to tear loose from the frame. i replaced the first two myself, but when the third one tore in less than three weeks, i brought it to the dealer who ordered me a new one under warranty. the motorcycle was not taken off-road, and is still in the break-in period with 454 miles on it. *tr

05/17/200870001
2008 kawasaki klr650 motorcycle. -subject: turn signal degradation and ultimate failure of manufactured material. -the right rear turn signal on my motorcycle failed without warning or due cause. i arrived at my office to find the rear indicator hanging by the wires with no structural support left by the material used to manufacture it. it appears the material was weak and rotted from exposure to vibration and uv light. the signal remained operational, but could not be left attached by only the electrical wiring. -dealer replaced the indicator and paid for it out of their own pocket, since kawasaki would not honor it as a warranty claim. *tr
05/15/200820001
 1. no events precipitated the equipment failure. it was purely normal use. 2. the turn signal mounting system cracked and completely separated from the mounting area. this happened on both right & left rear turn signals. 3. the left rear turn signal was replaced under warranty from the dealer with the same hardware that was original to the motorcycle. the right rear is still broken but kept in place with duct tape until upgraded replacement hardware is available from kawasaki. *tr

Rear turn signals on my 2008 kawasaki klr 650 are falling off under normal wear and tear. *tr
06/12/200820001
Normal riding of my 08 klr650 resulted in both rear turn signals falling off. the right one dangled against the exhaust pipe and melted the plastic. there were zero crashes or other forms of damage that could have caused this failure. in fact, i have saddlebags that protect the signals. *tr
07/17/200855001
Certain rubber components on the motorcycle have dried out and are crumbling. the following are examples a) turn signal stalks have fallen off without prior notice which could cause an accident due to the other traffic not seeing your turn signal b) windshield retaining well nuts have crumbled and the windshield could come loose or off at hwy speeds causing injury to the driver and possible accident c) rubber boot on the positive terminal of the starter has dryrotted and is crumbling. this could cause a possible short in the electrical system d) the boot which prevents water intrusion to the clutch cable has deteriorated and allows water into the cable which could cause it to seize and if the clutch could not be pulled in, may cause an accident under the right conditions. *tr

07/18/200848651
Turn signal mount dry rots and falls off possible cause of injury from signal itself. other problem is it could fall off without rider knowing it and could be involved in crash from lack of signal given to other vehicles on the road. *tr

08/24/200812001
Both rear turn signals fell off without my knowledge while riding on state highways on my kawasaki 2008 klr 650 motorcycle with 1200 miles on it. this is a known defect in the rubber part that acts as a spring connector from frame to light. following motorists were unable to determine my intentions. similar complaints can be seen at http://klrworld.com/forums/index.php?topic=9409.msg109460. kawasaki should be forced to recall and repair all 2008 klr 650 models before someone is killed because of their poor part design. thank you, robert brown *tr

I have a 2008 kawasaki klr650, both rear blinker rubber mounts broke and the blinkers were just hanging by the wires when i got home. i am assuming that the rubber used becomes brittle and breaks from vibration. the bike only has 800 miles on it and is a little over a year old. this is a factory defect that others have reported as well. *tr
