| Defect Summary | Kawasaki is recalling certain model year 2011 ninja zx-10r/zx-10r abs (zx1000jbf/jbfl/kbf/kbfl) motorcycles. it is possible for a portion of the wiring harness to become pinched between the rear subframe and the rear fender or between the rear subframe and the bolt holding the seat cover. this can damage the harness and wiring and result in a short between wires and the frame or within wires, which could result in the engine stopping suddenly. | |||||||||||||||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2011 kawasaki ninja zx10r. the contact stated the driver of the vehicle, was involved in a crash, due to a possible failure. the vehicle was accelerating at speeds of 50 miles per hour, when the driver experienced loss of power, and the vehicle caught fire. the vehicle was destroyed, and towed to the local repair shop. the local repair shop was unable to diagnose the failure. the contact received a recall notice, after the crash stating the vehicle was possibly under nhtsa campaign id number : 11v363000(electrical system) the contact has been unable to reach the manufacturer. i referred the contact to kawasaki at 1800-661-ride. the vin is unknown, and the failure mileage was 900. rds. | |||
