Defect SummaryKeystone is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 cougar and laredo trailers and fifth wheel vehicles. these vehicles have experienced a limited number of failures with its spare tire carriers in particular, the spare tire carriers, when combined with a 16 spare tire and when installed on the bumper of a slide out bike/storage rack, may break or crack after time causing the spare tire to fall off.
Consequence SummaryIf the tire carrier fails causing the tire to come loose, there is an increased risk of personal injury and property damage.
Corrective SummaryThe remedy is to replace the spare tire carrier with a new spare tire carrier free of charge. the safety recall began onmarch 8, 2010. owners may contact keystone at 1-866-425-4369.

Defect SummaryKeystone is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 cougar, laredo and outback travel trailers equipped with lippert component hitch couplers for lack of indentation on the forward edge of the coupler.
Consequence SummaryIf the coupler is lacking the indent it will lead to an increased risk of trailer separation from the hitch ball while towing resulting in property damage and/or vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryOwners are asked to inspect the hitch coupler for the correct stamping. if the hitch coupler is not formed correctly arrangements will be made to replace it free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin during january 2011. owners may contact keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369.

 Consumer states one year ago they purchased a 2010 keystone cougar xlite 26sab fifth wheel. consumer states problems with carbon monoxide detector *tgw the consumer stated the carbon monoxide detector was not displaying a green light. after removing it, the consumer discovered it was not battery operated, but rather hard wired. the wires were not connected to anything. the screws to the drawers were not long enough and the slides had no support. the cabinet doors under the sink came completely off, due to the screws not being properly secured. the door and surrounding frame came off and it was discovered it was kept in place with staples and not screws. another motorist alerted the consumer that the bumper had come loose from the back of the trailer and the spare tire was dragging on the road. a repair shop re-welded the bumper using metal l's to hold it in place. *jb

 Tl-the contact owns a 2002 gmc sierra. the vehicle was hitched to a 2010 keystone cougar fifth wheel trailer. the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the front end of the frame was fractured in two places near the main hitch area. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the vehicle did not calculate mileage. kmj

 Tl-the contact owns a 2010 keystone cougar trailer322qbs. the contact stated that the welding in the fifth wheel area failed, causing the fifth wheel pin to fracture. the fifth wheel then separate from the frame as well as the bolts in the bed and kitchen area. the trailer was taken to the dealer who inspected and found a defected welding that caused the fifth wheel pin and bolts to fail. the trailer was not repaired. the trailer did not have a mileage to be report. kmj

 Tl-the contact owns a 2010 cougar key stone trailer 322qbs. the contact stated the welding in the fifth wheel area failed causing the fifth wheel pin to break causing the fifth wheel to separate from the frame the bolts in the bed and kitchen area separated from the frame. the trailed was taken to the dealer inspected the trail and found a defected welding that caused the fifth wheel pin and bolts to fail. the trailer has not been repaired. the trailer did not have a mileage to be report (n/a). li

 Tl-the contact owns a 2010 keystone alpine 5th wheel camper equipped with power king towmax tires size st/235/80/r16. the tires were the original purchased with the vehicle on october 12, 2010. the contact stated while the vehicle was being serviced for the tires to be balanced she was advised that the tires could not balance because all four tires belts were separating. the contact stated she purchased four new tires. she contacted the tire company and they advised her that they would reimburse per $60 per tire. the tires were replaced. the failure mileage was 400 and the current mileage was 500. vwb

 Tl-the contact owns a 2010 keystone montana rv equipped with goodyear marathon tires, tire size st235/80/16. (n/a)the contact noticed that the rear passenger tire tread belt warped severely; the tire was replaced. in addtion; the rear driver side tire exploded and the other three tires were defective. the tires location was unknown. a total of five tires had been replaced. currently, one of the defective tires was replaced with a spare temporarily. the dot number was unknown. js

 Driving down i-5 the weld between the interior part of the wheel rim and the exterior part of the rim broke. our 5th wheel trailer is a 2010, but notice that a recall has been made on some of the 2011 keystone trailers.
