Defect Summary | Curt manufacturing is recalling certain tow package wiring harnesses, part number 56024, that connect tow vehicle lighting circuits to trailer lighting circuits sold for use on certain model year 2009 through 2011 hyundai veracruz and kia sorento vehicles. the units are not water-tight and moisture can seep into the converter module and defeat the module's internal circuit protection. | |||||||||||||||
Consequence Summary | Without the circuit protection, the module can overheat possibly resulting in a fire. | |||||||||||||||
Corrective Summary | Curt manufacturing will notify owners and replace the tow package wiring harness. the remedy will be performed free of charge. the safety recall began on october 17, 2011. owners may contact curt manufacturing at 1-715 831-8713. | |||||||||||||||

My 2011 kia sorento's rear sunroof shattered. i went to open the main sunroof it shuttered then i heard a pop. the entire rear section shattered i was less than a mile from a local kia dealership (pinehurst kia) i left the car with the service dept i was contacted later that from the dealership i was told that glass was not covered and that they felt that nothing was wrong with there product. i contacted kia directly and was told glass was covered then i was called back from kia stating that the repair would not be warranty $1280.00 was the cost for repairs> i was advised by the service director that the proper repair woulld include glass replacement and i should replace the frame housing. i found other cases of this same problem with the rear sunfoor glass shattering at least nobodys been hurt yet. is kia waiting for someone to be injuried before addressing this problem? | |||

1st problem: i bought the car, drove it off the lot, dealership did not get it inspected so i had to tae it at 10 miles to get an inspection sticker on it! 2nd problem: immediately after buying the car, i noticed all the windows and doors rattled. took it to kia in kingwood 5 times and they could never hear the sound and/or fixed other things on the car that did not need to be fixed. problem still exists. 3rd problem: engine light kept coming on, 3 visits later, i needed a new transmission, at 13,000 miles..something wrong with sensor that measures fluids?? 4th problem: taking back at 14,500 miles on monday(3/18/12) to get doors checked out now electronics are messed up and loud noise everytime i lock or roll down windows. also, cant get key to turn in ignition alot!! what a piece of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | |||

2011 kia sorento. consumer writes regarding problems with vehicle within the first 2 months of purchase *tgw the consumer stated the stalled while driving on the highway. it would down shift unexpectedly and then jerk and jolt. there were times when the consumer applied the accelerator and the vehicle would not respond for a short period before the vehicle revved up and accelerated. the vehicle also pulled to the right and there was a bad grinding/rubbing sound coming from the front drivers side of the vehicle, along with spongy brakes which was a problem from the start. the consumer stated when she started the vehicle, there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. the interior lights went out, the drivers side window switch was faulty and the back-up camera stopped working. *jb |
