Defect SummaryKia is recalling certain model year 2011 sorento 2wd vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions and 2.4l engines manufactured from the start of production through may 22, 2010. the intermediate shaft may suffer from noise and excessive wear due to a misalignment of the intermediate shaft with the right side output gear. continuing to drive the vehicle in this condition leads to the development of a whirring/whining noise and can eventually cause damage to the automatic transmission.
Consequence SummaryDamage to the transmission may cause loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the right side output gear and intermediate shaft free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin during may 2011. owners may contact kia at 1-800-333-4542.

 Reversed car from my driveway. felt as if i had crashed into something (heard loud grinding sound). put the car into drive and came to stop. upon pressing the brakes, felt as if the abs had engaged and gripped all four wheels. heard loud grinding sound and car jolted (as brakes were pressed). i had my five year old and three old sons with me; they screamed from the jolt. i slowly released the breaks and applied the breaks again, and same thing occured only with less force. turned off the car and called for towing. also, a howling whining noise is heard inside the car. the dealership had it for two weeks, and under the guidance of the field engineer they replaced the transfer case. the howling/whining noise continues. the dealership really tried to resolve the issue. the manager herself test drove the car and also heard the whining/howling sound. i did contact the manufacturer, but frankly felt dissapointed. i had asked if anyone has called in with similar complaints and was not given an answer. i feel unsafe and very anxious about driving the car. they dealership stated the breaks were fine, and that no error code was detected. i was not given a definitive answer as to what caused the breaks to behave this way or what is the howling noise that is occuring. this is the third major issue we had with this car. i have an awd vehicle and the current recall only covers the 2wd issue (that also has this howling sound). i have read numerous other complaints in which other 2011 awd sorentos are having similar issues. please investigate; someone could be seriously hurt or worse.

 Tl- the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, all of the instrument panel lights illuminated as the vehicle stalled. the contact also stated that there was a sudden loss of engine power. there was a sudden increase in engine rpms and the vehicle failed to shift gears while the contact was traveling 15 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer on five separate occasions. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 34,000 and the current mileage was 38,000. kmj

 When pulling into a parking space today, the esc and dbc lights came on and i could not get the car out of drive or neutral. i tried to put it in reverse or park and it would not move into that position. finally, i turned the car off and turned it back on, the lights went off, and i was able to get it into park. this is a huge problem. *tr

 Attempted to park car while waiting for a relative to get off work. car would not shift to reverse or park- no further than neutral. was able to put car in neutral and brake to stop car. after dropping relative off at home (had to stop car in same manner as above), had to stop in a near empty parking lot, as i still was unable to put the vehicle in reverse or park. contacted kia dealership by phone and was told by representative to pump the break several times in order to shift the car to neutral/park. did not work. was told by rep that the braking solenoid ? (spelling?) has malfunctioned and that i should use something like a small screwdriver to push down a button in a small box at the top right of the shifter. further stated that this would release the break so that the car could be put in park. was told that car would now be unable to be taken out of park unless the same process was repeated. i've owned this vehicle just over 3 months. certified per-owed. less than 34000 miles. will attempt to take to dealership for repair. unaware if service center will repair on saturday. this is the second time this has happened, but it was quickly remedied when i cut the car off and turned it back on while depressing the brake. thought it was a fluke until today. should have kept my 2006. this is my 3rd kia. 1st vehicle with an issue like this. *tr

 This is my wife's vehicle, but given the issue she is afraid to drive it..... driving up hill with my foot on the gas pedal at 50 mph. my vehicle lost power ( as if i slammed on the brake ) my body went forward and was stopped by the seatbelt. my head whipped downward. then the vehicle surged forward. my head and body slapped back into the seat. it was so abrupt and violently. it will scare you to death. this has happened to many times over the last year to count. i have tried to document the events in a journal because the dealer has been able to duplicate it only once. some days it can happen up to 3 times a day for weeks on end. some times i can duplicate it driving up hill and sometimes nothing. the worst times are when merging into traffic or when someone is following to close behind me. my fear is that i will hurt another motorist or a passenger in my vehicle. a term called limp mode has been said to me. where the transmission shifts to a hi gear to protect it from damage. my vehicle still does this at least once every other day. i have been to the dealer 14 times. the tranny was replaced a year ago and a backfire code was found recently. a computer software update that didn't help was the last thing done in over a year, unless you count paying for rental vehicles doing something. there is also a suspension/steering issue. a hard pulling left/right and bump steer. the vehicle will pull the steering wheel out of your hand in turns and veers as it hits bumps. *tr

 After start up when shifting from park to reverse the transmission will shift violently and will produce the same reaction if you try to shift it back into park. this has occurred intermittently and otherwise the transmission shifts normally. if you attempt to drive the vehicle once this occurs it feels underpowered as if the transmission is locked in a higher gear and there is no eco indication or indication of what gear the transmission is in. we took the vehicle to the dealer where it was purchased on 10/13/12 and picked it up on 10/15/12 and were told that the software had been upgraded to prevent this. since this upgrade the transmission has slipped out of gear twice while backing out of the driveway. when you shift back into park it produces the same violent shift. i have contacted kia's roadside assistance and they are coming to take the vehicle back to the dealership on 10/23/12 since the last attempt to repair this concern did not work. *tr

 Incident #1 while traveling 45 mph car lurched, and gas pedal was non-responsive. engine was running, but no response. only forward motion was idle speed which was not enough power to make it up hill. stopped car in median. towed car back o dealer. check engine light stayed on. dealership replaced a recall brake switch, and said as there was no computer code they couldn't find anything else to fix. reset the computer to clear the check engine light. incident #2 less than 50 miles (24 hours) after taking the car - at 60mph same issue occurred. shut off engine, restarted & drove back to dealer. after starting/stopping about 4 times the check engine light went off. car seemed to respond appropriately. the car is not safe to drive in this condition. should this happen while merging, on a bridge, or in heavy traffic accident would occur.

 Vehicle stuck in drive when i was pulling into a parking place. i was able to brake but engine kept running. after several tries, i managed to force it into neutral and the curb maintained my car stationary since i was unable to put it in park. because i was unable to put my car in park, it idled in neutral until the tow truck arrived (20 min later) by which time it had begun to overheat. the incline light was on, but i was not on an incline. the traction light was on and i have no clue why since the car was not in motion. i also called the kia dealer and spoke with someone in the maintenance dept. who directed me to repeatedly pump on my brakes and at the same time to keep turning my steering wheel back and forth. after several tries, i was finally able to get it into park but the traction light and the incline lights remained on and the car was overheating. i encountered another incident a couple of months ago, when i was on a road trip. at that time the vehicle's mileage was about 35,000. i was going 70 mph on hwy 281 s heading to san antonio when my engine began to lose power and the engine light came on. luckily, i was able to make it to a kia dealership in the area. they worked on it for about a week and a half but since then i've experience odd things such as the car jumping or popping when it changes gears. also, it tends to overheat when the car idles for more than 10 min. as well as cruise control issues. i'm very disappointed my kia sorento and i truly feel it is a safety hazard. *tr

 The date above is the first date there was a indication of a problem. the actual speed of travel has varied. the issue is random and has affected most systems at one time or the other. it has normally been a headache more than safety always going away after shutting the car down and restarting. to me it became a safety issue when about two months ago i heard a loud bang like i hit something and then my rpms increased and the transmission would not shift out of the lower gears. i pulled into a safe parking area, shut the car down and called the dealer. after restarting the car the problem went away, just as it has every time no matter what system has been affected. the issues have ranged from a cruise control refusing to activate, the cruise control having erratic behavior (often kicking in the passing gear when not required), total electronic panel shutdown (including radio), to doors locking on their own when open, to headlights not being turned off when they should have been after 2-30 seconds. the transmission issue has been the most serious. the car should have already been serviced under a similar recall. i have noted similar complaints including a similar transmission compliant on kia forums. kia itself refused to give the go ahead for a computer reset/upgrade. my dealer did this on his own for me after i made it clear this has gone too far. a personal conversation with kia was negative and was nothing short of talking in circles. i understand the issue of trying to traced random problems, but not the failure to start an investigation into, for instance, possible computer shielding issues making outside interference a possibility. it remains to be seen if the computer update works, but it is a issue when a transmission shuts totally or partly down. the dealer has never been able to verify my complaints. *tr

 My wife was driving our 2011 kia sorrento feb. 2012 (17,450 miles) when it went clunk and lost power; the engine ran as normal but no/little power from transmission. she was on a dangerous highway and damaged the car trying to back up to a safer spot. sorento was towed, dealer kept it for three days and said they'd fixed the problem, but kia said the body damage was our problem. today, april 30, i was driving when it went clunk - (approx 21,500 miles at 47 mph) engine ran but no/little power from transmission; i pulled over, shut the ignition off and restarted after a minute or so - i am home and the car is going to the dealer. this car scares me - if this happens in other circumstances i see the real possibility of a serious accident. how do i report this problem? other than trading it (and giving the danger to someone else), what are my options? this is our second dangerous incident . . . i don't believe anyone at kia really cares

 My 2011 kia sorento 2.4 l w/ auto tranny fwd was fixed on recall almost two months ago.after driving 26 days i had bad accident.from my house to work i stopped at mcdonald rest. to buy breakfast. i got on, started my vehicle, step on my brakes to engage in reverse, the vehicle start shaking, reversed, span 360 degrees, hit the railings and ramp of the restaurant and drive forward in the middle of the parking lot. it stop because the two control arm/axles were damaged. i was shaken and it was hard to remember what really happened what i explained was the same as what the witness saw while lining up on the drive thru to order her breakfast. the witness came over and helped me. the damaged was so expensive that i have to fix the damage thru my insurance. i had the vehicle fixed by reliable shop not by kia dealership in order for me to verify if the accident was the cause of the recall repair. i almost forgot that on the early morning before the accident the vehicle reversed from my garage @ unreasonable speed that i have to control by applying the brakes. the vehicle is drivable and i am still waiting for some parts from kia. do i have to notify kia what happened or wait until the problem happen again. what is your advise. as of now i am driving the vehicle and i have phoebia everytime i back up, at least i am aware what happened. thank you

 The transmission will not shift from drive to reverse/park at intermittent times. the vehicle must be put into neutral, turned off, and restarted in order to shift into park/reverse. this has occured on three seperate occassions. the vehicle was taken to the nearest kia dealer. the service team stated that they could not recreate the problem and did nothing to correct the error.

 I was driving on the x-way at about 65mph and felt a huge jolt and heard a loud bang and the same time and the vehicle seemed to lose control a bit. i worked the shift gear to try to regain control and got off the x-way, and turned around to see what i had hit or run over. nothing was in the road. i made it home and made a service appointment at the nearest kia dealership. i barely drove for 3 days until the appointment on tuesday, 10/25/11. during that time we found information about the faulty transmission recall on the nhtsa site (kia safety recall #sc089) that is related to the 2wd automatic sorento. however, the symptoms described are exactly the same as i experienced on my awd vehicle. vandevere kia in akron ohio drove it for about 5 minutes and when the same problem didn't present for them, they told me nothing was wrong and to take it home. the kia service team didn't seem to be aware of the nhtsa recall. i have contacted kia by phone and also by e-mail in an attempt to get the defective parts replaced. i am waiting on a response. i don't have a back-up car, and i need to drive every day to keep my job, etc. please expand the nhtsa action number pe11010 - kia safety recall # sc089 to include the 2011 awd kia sorento models and help me get this vehicle repaired while it is still under warranty and before a crash takes my life or that of someone else.

 Transmisson issues. driving at 30mph when i notice suddenly the traction control and downhill assistance lights came on the dashboard. i tried to turn it off but i couldn't, it just would go away. at the next stop sign i put the car on park when it for my surprise it got stuck, would not go fw or reverse. i had to turn the car on and off a few times when i was finaly able to get it to work. the transmission got stuck a few times before and when i inquired the dealership they ran some tests and said everything is fine. after doing some research i found out this is common issue on 2011 kia sorento. several customers had the transmission replaced once, twice and even 3/4 times and the same thing happen over and over. it seems to me kia does not care, it is a safety hazzard and a rip off for a $25k car with less than 17k miles.

 Delay in acceleration after applying brakes. this happens from a dead start and also while moving. especially bad when trying to back up a grade. (ex.) while backiing up a grade such as a driveway to the garage i back up and then hit my brake to stop. i then realize i need to back up a little farther. i take my foot off of the brake and push the accelerator. instead of going backwards i drift forward. in my mind i am thinking i don't have the accelerator pushed down so i push harder and about that time the accelerator kicks in and i go flying backwards toward the garage door. (ex.2) i am trying to back a boat into the river. i back up and hold my foot on the brake. i need to pull back out of the water some so i quickly release my foot from the brake and push the accelerator. now instead of going forward there is a delay in acceleration and i drift further into the river. (someone is going to have a very bad accident) multiply this occurence at every stop sign. especially where there is a grade involved. in my opinion i believe this is a design in the computer for what ever reason and it is a very dangerous one.

 While driving on highway approximately 75 mph, car suddenly jolted like i hit something. it jerked very hard and decelarated. the rpms also went up much higher like it shifted to a lower gear. pulled onto shoulder of road and turned car off. same thing happened 2 days prior while cruise control was set at 71 mph. first time, was able to restart car and continue the 20 mile drive to work. today, car would not restart and had to have towed. when arrived at dealership, car started without issues. service manager said they hooked up the diagnostic computer and there were no problems with car. the technician drove the car about 30 miles and was unable to replicate problem.

 While coming to a stop, the vehicle down-shifted hard and the engine started to sputter like it was going to cut off. took to dealer and they found p0748- pressure control solenoid a electrical fault. they performed a reprogram of tsm per tsb# tra038. drove off lot and it shifted hard three times on way home. dealer said it would take 100 miles for the computer to re-learn my driving for best fuel mileage. drove to work (shifted hard 5 times) and drove to run errands. while on errands the vehicle shifted down hard and engine sputtered while slowing down in traffic. then, when releasing the brake and pressing the accelerator, the vehicle rpm/ tach went up but the vehicle wouldn't go. after stepping back on the brake and waiting 2-3 seconds i tried to move again and it did. i took the car back to dealer directly and while stopping to turn into dealer it shifted hard, engine sputtered and it again would not move ( only engine rpm's turned up). it did finally move and i was able to pull into the parking lot. now the manufacturer is replacing the transmission because to their admission they do not know what is wrong with the vehicle. nearly stranded on a five lane 35 mph road could be physically dangerous but a highway could be fatal. an evasive maneuver with this vehicle, requiring stopping and starting quickly is not an option if you can't drive during normal conditions stopping and starting.

 Bought my kia approximately 1 year ago on 05/31/2010 it is a 2011 4cyl. while driving (speed doesnt matter) (this has happened several times)the vehicle will loose power and all gauges will go unfunctional, pushing on the accelerator will not provide response, vehicle will not drive but engine is running. took to dealership on 05/12/2011 and dealership said they fixed it. had vehicle home for less than 1 week when we were driving down the highway at approximately 75 (on 05/22/2011) and vehicle again lost power and all controls. had to fight vehicle with no power and controls and rolled to a stop.....engine was still running but no controls or power working....had my 3 kids and my wife....very scary....vehicle has a problem that needs to be seriously addressed....kia doesnt know what they are doing

 Driving approx 35 mph, there was a loud pop and noise then the car started grinding and transmission locked up. no gears, car locked up and came to a halt. could not go backward or forward when put into gear, just had a loud grinding sound. sound was so loud i thought the transmission had fallen out. before this happened i noticed that when the car had been turned off for a while then started and put into reverse there was a loud clunking sound, almost as if you had tried to put the car into gear without putting your foot on the brake first and it would leap into gear.

 While traveling down the road the axle and transmission suddenly went out. this caused vehicle to come to a sudden abrupt stop. this could have caused a fatal accident if traveling at a higher rate of speed or on an interstate. when the problem occurred, you had no power to the vehicle and it could not even coast to the side of the road. dealer stated it was due to a manufacturers defect caused by a bolt from the axle hitting the transmission and said they forwarded photos to kia corporate. i contacted kia corporate and asked for a written explanation and assurance that this particular problem would not happen to us again and they declined to provide anything in writing. our problem was fixed, at least for now, but i want to know that my family or someone else's does not have this problem with a tractor trailer behind them at 70 mph on an interstate.

 2011 kia sorento. consumer writes regarding problems with vehicle within the first 2 months of purchase *tgw the consumer stated the stalled while driving on the highway. it would down shift unexpectedly and then jerk and jolt. there were times when the consumer applied the accelerator and the vehicle would not respond for a short period before the vehicle revved up and accelerated. the vehicle also pulled to the right and there was a bad grinding/rubbing sound coming from the front drivers side of the vehicle, along with spongy brakes which was a problem from the start. the consumer stated when she started the vehicle, there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. the interior lights went out, the drivers side window switch was faulty and the back-up camera stopped working. *jb

 Front strut failure at 3k miles. car randomly has a loud metallic clunk sound when starting, sometimes the car will surge/jump forward when starting (while the car is in park, parking brake on and foot on brake). the transmission shifter gets stuck in park and does not release, with great effort releasing from park(car made loud metallic clank sound and surged/jumped in reverse). i'm afraid to park too close to another car because starting car can cause collision. when the transmission is stuck the brakes depress to floor of car. since day one the car has pulled to the right, after strut replacement the problem is worse (the faster the speed the harder it is to steer straight).

 Bought a 2011 kia sorento 4cyl standard package. noticed at around 200 miles the front right tire was making some clunking noises and felt very wobbly. the car also pulls to the right on the highway. called the local kia dealership and they looked at it and said it was a suspension problem and they had another car with the same problem so they knew what it was. it's been 3 weeks, kia said they would call but they never did so i have called the dealer over 4 times to hear the words we don't have your part they told me one other time that one of the guys tried to order too many parts and they got rejected! lies! the rpm's also reeve up for no apparent reason. they make the car sound like the motor is going to blow up and last, the car pulls to the right while driving on the highway. very unsafe!i don't feel safe driving this car and it feels like i am driving a pile of junk. i am waiting to break down on the freeway!

 I purchased a brand new 2011 kia sorento from patterson kia. i was driving on the highway with my family and suddenly i felt like i hit a brick wall and a my sorento rpm guage jumped to 6000 rpm. i pulled over and looked under the hood for any visual damage which i could not find, i then proceeded to put the car in drive and i noticed the car would not shift from 1st gear. again i was on the highway with my i year old. i called roadside assistant for the 1st time in my life after owning over 20 new cars. my car was towed and my family was stuck out of town with no vehicle for two days. the dealer looked at my car and said that they could not duplicate the problem. of course not! i call kia corp and the just took my name and provided me with a case #. what about being strainded without a car for 2 day and luckly i had family near by for a place to stay. i received a call from the dealership informing me that kia had issued a transmission software upgrade, so after the update my car was driving like new again. that's when i noticed about 2 weeks later on my way to work i felt that same feeling like hitting a brick wall. the dealer still has not addressed the concern and their only solution is a software update. this will be my second kia that i have owned and the last!!!! 6yr 100,000warranty is not worth the drama.

 I filed this report 6/23/11 on kia.com consumer care website: 2011 sorento lx (4cyl awd) transmission has locked up multiple times. at 40 mph during acceleration, loud bang followed by severe jerking, (hard down-shift), loss of drive (engine continues to run but does not shift into gear), coast to stop,put in park. first few times it drove okay after a complete stop and from park, this last time it would not shift beyond 40 mph. towed twice to dealer but they were unable to replicate the issue in the mileage that they drove it. vehicle purchased 01/30/10 with 24k miles. mileage at the last service was 33k. first event 5/17, occurs every 4-5 days or approx 200-250 mi. chk engine lt / transmission light have never come on, computer diagnostic doesnt register any issues. the dealer was very nice but without kia's approval would not keep the car long enough to find the problem. i asked kia directly to provide a tech to drive the car long enough to experience the issue but they have refused to authorize it and have also stated that without verification they will not approve any repairs. i am very afraid that next time it happens it will cause a serious accident. i have already had two close calls on the freeway 6/28: the same issue occurred again 4 days ago (6/24) on a narrow two lane road while accellerating after a stop sign (again about 40-45 mph). this time it lost all drive and rpm's did not go up when pushing the gas pedal. put it into park and tried two more times before it finally drove. today 6/28, at a gas station the car would not go into reverse. after several tries to shift into any gear, turned it off and on again and it drove okay out of the station but 200 yds later as i was accelerating up the ramp to enter i-5 (a 6 lane freeway during early commute) it made the same loud bang, jerk and then lost drive, coasted to shoulder. turned engine off, waited a few minutes to restart, it was not very responsive but i was able to exit the freeway.

 I was driving 60 mph in clear lane on highway on 04/08/11 when a very loud bang was heard in engine, suv lurched violently and engine whined noticeably. it was immediately noticeable that the engine was losing acceleration power and i pulled over. when stopped, i put suv into park and noticed it lurched. the vehicle lurched whenever the shifter was moved from p to r to n to d and back. it was readily apparent the vehicle had a transmission problem. 2011 kia sorento was purchased new, and had 10,000 miles on it at time of occurence. vehicle did not shift or drive correctly afterwards.

 After stopping to paying bridge toll, heard a loud grinding noise which sounded like something feel out from underneath the our 2011 kia sorento. from that point on the vehicle would only coast. this could have casued a major accident as 3 lanes of traffic were merging and luckily there was a parking lot just before getting on the bridge. we called roadside assistnace and vehicle was towed to kia dealership and transmission is being replaced. a rental car was provided, but is on a day-to-day basis...the repair is supposed to only take a week...not sure how i feel about the vehicle now.....there should be a recall...

 I was driving my 2011 kia sorento from arkansas to indiana. i stopped off to get gas and felt like someone bumped me in the rear end when i came to a stop. i looked behind me and there was plenty of room between the car behind me and myself. i wasn't sure what it was so i didn't really think too much about it and went on my way. the next time i got off the interstate and stopped, it did it again. i then called the dealership i bought my sorento from and made an appt to take it in the following day. needless to say it didn't make it to the next day. as soon as i got off the interstate (thankfully at my exit) the transmission went completely out. i then had to call roadside assistance and they had to tow it to the dealership. the next day i went to the dealership to find out that they were going to have to put a whole new transmission in my vehicle. i was provided a rental car until the service was complete. the thing was i was only in town for a long weekend and had to get back to arkansas. they told me that i could drive the rental car back to arkansas but would have to come get the sorento when it was ready. (they would not ship the sorento to me) it did end up working out ok, my mother and father inlaw picked up the sorento when it was fixed and i drove one of their vehicles down to arkansas. they brought the sorento down to me on their vacation. i am very disappointed that the transmission went out in my brand new vehicle. i don't think that i will ever feel totally safe driving it again. i'm always going to be wondering what is going to happen next.

 While driving with cruise control set at 60 mph and transmission in the drive position, the vehicle suddenly down-shifted into 4th gear and held that position without shifting manually or automatically. the sudden shifting of the transmission would be similar to revving an engine in neutral and then shifting into drive with the rpm's very high and the sensation was a loud thud/thump sounding like i jumped a curb, with a similar sensation from the driving position. i was able to drive, but could not shift out of 4th gear even when i stopped at a safe location a few miles up the road. i was able to manually put the vehicle in n, r and p. i parked the vehicle and turned off the engine. i waited 15 seconds, restarted the vehicle and put it back in drive. at this point the engine returned to normal operation and shifted fine. no unusual noises or changes were noted. i was on the phone with the sales person who sold us the vehicle and he mentioned something about a computer glitch that handles automatic shifting. the vehicle in question has approx 3200 miles on it and this is the first major concern i have experienced.

 Transmission and driveshaft broke 21 nov 2010 barely making it across busy intersection. vehicle is 2011 kia sorento. purchased in february 2010 (in texas), kia sorento broke down out of state (ft. bragg, nc) thanksgiving week 2010. kia had vehicle towed to nearest dealer - a+. kia provided rental immediately - a+. kia dealership reported transmission and driveshaft would need to be replaced. (vehicle started but would not move and made grinding noise). kia now states we do not have a followback policy meaning i'm supposed to pay for vehicle to be returned from near ft. bragg nc to where i reside in texas - f. any one know the law? i have owned 7 kia's including this one, you would think kia would reward such loyalty?

 Own 2011 sorento ex v6 - similar compalint as another when using pushbutton start every 4 or 5 starts a loud clunking and engine torque or transmission is experienced. also noted a continuing oscillating hum coming from the rear wheel area - very noticeable on somewhat smoother roads. not due to roads since i have tried other roads to rule out a particular road. it's from the car and not the road. it never goes away.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that when he took his foot off the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle coast, it seemed as if the brake pedal was being depressed when traveling between 30-40 mph. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the engine was breaking due to the torque converter. the dealer took the vehicle for a 23 mile drive and that although the failure did occur, it was normal. the contact was concerned that he could possibly lose control of the vehicle. the failure mileage was 14. the current mileage was 1,900.

 My kia sorento 2011 manual transmition is jerking while we driving or coming out of a full stop but this is random,shes been at the dealer like in 4 ocasions but they can not figure out whats wrong, the computer did not advise of any problem so we continue using the car and make notes of when happend the dealer told us when it happend more often then take her back, so if anybody have an idea of what can be we would like to hear from you, thanks
