| We noticed yellow streaks over time on the hood where the engine block and radiator are positioned. i have never had any trouble with overheating or any other problem of that nature. but eventually the clear coat began peeling and chipping in several different places on the hood where major engine components are located and now i am left with huge spots on my hood where the clear coat is missing. the underhhood insulation is in perfect condition. i assume there is a defect in either the clear coat itself or the insulation which prevents the heat from damaging the hood has failed to do so. i do not understand how this could possibly happen. the vehicle is only a 99 model kia sportage. it has only 93,000 miles on it. i have had recent recalls repaired and i am in hopes that this information will help to prove a defect in the hood insulation or the clear coat. *jb | |||

| I am the owner of a 99 kia sportage with only 19000 miles on it bought new with only 10 miles on it back in 99. this suv has been nothing but problems from day one, with everything from the ac to the 4 wheel drive needing repaired twice in one day, to the most serious problem happening on 8-19-02 when my right rear anti sway bar bracket breaks away from where it was welded on the frame in the factory ( the org. welds just broke ) as my daughter and i are driving this suv home one evening causing this suv to be all over the road and uncontrollable. luckily no one was hurt or killed because of this. kia accepts no responsibilty for this. but it was there welds done in there factory when they made this suv. this is the kind of safe products that kia makes and the public needs to be aware of this fact and how much this co. values a human life. | |||

| Engine check light keeps coming on which is a reoccurring problem. also, due to defect vehicle has stalled twice; once in reverse gear, and in drive gear. dealer had vehicle on numerous occasions, and claimed that a sensor was the cause.*ak | |||
| Recall 99v325000 work was corrected. since recall work was done engine check light illuminated on the dash. consumer contacted the dealer. dealer noted that recall problem has failed and wires went bad. also, air bag light was illuminating on the dash. please provide any further details.*ak | |||

| Not only has the proportional braking valve failed,but also engine temp sensor,causing transmission failure, engine light came on,and hold light for the trasmission come on, and now the power window gets stuck open. we smell a faint smell of wire insulation burning,but service dept. said they couldnt do any thing until the brake light came on and stayed on. he said there was a short in the wiring harness.this makes twice. *ak | |||

| While pulling out of the garage vehicle stalled, and the garage door fell down onto the roof of the vehicle. also, alternator and the battery went completely out. engine check light was on for a week. in addition, when shifting gears, transmission wasn't shifting properly. passenger's side window was jammed and stuck half way up. finally, when applying the gas pedal there was a pounding noise, and no power within the vehicle. *ak | |||
