I have a land rover free lander 2004 i bought it with 30,000 miles on it, it ran fine for a while then the child safety locks mal- functioned. the people who sat in the back seat could not get out i had to open the rear doors from the outside.the sun roof stop working as did the rear windows on both sides of the truck. i tried to start it three weeks ago no luck it was towed to the dealership they told me i needed two sensors $800 then they tested the engine the left side no longer worked $5800 to repair the truck that now has 87,000 miles. i thought these trucks were built to last.i loved the safety of these trucks but what good is safety it they do not last ?!?!? *tr

Vehicle had engine failure and transmission locked up during acceleration. after a diagnoses it was the result of a defective thermostat housing that released the coolant onto the top of the engine. at the current time the automobile has had 39 different problems diagnosed since the purchase date in 2004. *tr

My son turned 16 on march 18, 2012. we wanted an suv that would be safe to drive. we wanted a car with lower millage. we found a 2004 land rover freelander at a local dealer with only 56,000 miles. car was in awesome shape inside and out. new tires, etc. paid $9,500. a few days later took the car to my local land rover dealer in portland oregon to have the car looked over. you know the normal oil change, or whatever else they do on a car at 55k miles. after they looked it over they told me the coils needed to be replaced. and also the plugs. i said sure whatever. $1,200 later i had my son's car back. a few weeks later it had a odor to it, and it was having problems going up hills and the engine was making strange sounds. a day later it stalled. had it towed to land rover dealer in portland oregon and they told me it appears that is was out of coolant. they thought at first it must be a faulty thermostat or possibly the water pump. nope. they came back with there is coolant mixing in with the engine oil. that it would another $1,200 to $1,500 just to find out what the problem actually is. told me if it was head gaskets or something in the block, it would cost at least $5,000 or more to repair. the land rover dealership offered to replace the blown hoses and they they told they could get it working again but it was not going to run for very much longer. i checked with other land rover service companies and they all refused to even look at the freelander as they knew it was not going to turn out well. i finally found a mechanic in portland oregon who agreed to take it apart and fix it. they told me no more than $3,500. what was i suppose to do, we paid $9,500 and selling it for scrap seem like a bad idea. so as of today, june 6th i am still waiting for the repairs at a local shop on our 2004 land rover freelander with only 57k to be completed.

I bought this vehicle in april 2010 and have had nothing but problems ever since. it had 79,600 miles on it when i bought it and was told by the dealer that it had just recently had a transmission replaced. they didn't even know how to open the hood - passenger side. 2 months later and it dies on me going down the street. i pull over and antifreeze is running everywhere. the thermostat housing had separated in two and caused the car to overheat. i called the closest land rover dealer and he quoted me $800 to fix it. i searched on the internet and found the parts to fix it for $80. i replaced the thermostat and housing (1 piece) and got it running again. since then, the sunroof has quit, both rear windows have quit and the rear sliding window won't open by key. the driver side windshield defroster will not work (only the passenger side) and i have never had an owners manual. the drivers side door will not unlock with the keyless entry either. now i get to the engine - it started running real rough and lost alot of power. i had a local mechanic run codes on it and this is what he found: p0303 - #3 cylinder misfire; p1319 - misfire emission relevant; p1471, 1472 - vis motors evap purge valve flow blocked; p1475 - leak detection pump leakage diagnostic pump reed switch did not close; p 1775 - gearbox fault transmission system mil fault. i asked his opinion and he told me it was probably not worth fixing. he didn't even know what all of this meant. he was just going to start tearing it down and see what he could fix. i can't afford that. i live paycheck to paycheck and i really thought that land rover had a good name and reputation. i emailed and called them and have had no luck to this point. everything i have seen on this model proves that it is a vehicle that should be put to rest. i am looking for any help i can get.

Like the myriad of other complaints about this vehicle, (http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/webx?14@@.f142477/93#msg93, http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.eea90db, http://www.businessweek.com/the_thread/blogspotting/archives/2005/07/blogger_takes_o.html for a tiny example) i too began experiencing the exact same overheating problems not too far past the warranty expiration. it is very, very well documented that there is a complete failure in the cooling system in the freelanders. can you please, please, please do something about it? i have also had problems with the automatic windows, including one actually stuck partially down currently because i'm past warranty. but that's small potatoes compared to the overheating issue.

My 2004 freelander was purchased from royalty auto sales in little ferry nj on april 19, 2010 with 52,000 miles. we also purchased from same dealer a 1-year warranty from a warranty company represented by the dealer midatlantic warranty company. we put a $6,500 downpayment on the vehicle, and financed $7,000. the problem started within 24 hours after driving off the lot with an overheating issue we returned the vehicle to the dealer who said there was probably not enough antifreeze in it and offered to drive the vehicle for a few days to make sure it was o.k. dealer maintained issue never happened again and returned the car to us. the car over the next month and one-half continued to overheat several times and require adding of antifreeze with no apparent leak under the vehicle. 2-months after purchase vehicle ceased to start and when towed to landrover was told it would need a new engine and these defects are known about in the automotive industry. to date neither the dealer nor the warranty company has either returned our money, vehicle or repaired the car. someone should be responsible. shame on landrover and any dealer that does not research the vehicles they represent as being safe and in good condition to unknowing consumers.

I purchased a 2004 land rover freelander in october 2007. i have had several issues with the engine and engine cooling system that have caused me to take the vehicle in for numerous repairs. the head gasket needs replaced. the repairs are numerous and expensive. even the land rover dealers say that these vehicles are junk and almost impossible to completely repair. i am told that engine replacement may be the only way to solve the issue.

During high speeds (55-70 mph) car would down shift into low gear for no reason. check engine light would come on shortly after and car ran rough. on one occasion while pulling out onto a highway the car would not accelerate. brakes replaced at approx. 11k miles. all recommended service was done on time according to the passport schedule. stopped to get gas and car would not start. had to get car towed 40 miles and take a taxi home. i went to arbitration with lrna and i got a 2005 replacement. see my 2nd post about this truck - engine is shot- head gasket broken, thermostat shot, breaks at 25k miles, cracked manifold, cracked engine hoses.

Loss power while driving resulting in having to replace engine. the engine was replaced and again while driving on 11/19/10 loss power. engine has been diagnosed with engine failure. failure occurred at 74639 miles

Engine overheating and eventual seizure as a result of coolant loss through cracked cylinder sleeves. this condition, according to the land rover dealership, cannot be corrected. the only solution involves engine replacement, except that no replacement engines are available due to the producer's default. was informed by the dealer that this engine problem is systemic in the freelander model.

Replaced thermostat due to coolant leakage. service engine soon light keeps coming on and car looses power and shakes violently. have had to pull over numerous times and shut engine down and leave for a few minutes, service engine soon light stays illluminated. now tc (traction control) and downhill decent light keep coming on. took to repair shop and they replaced brake light switch, but llights illuminated while on their final test drive. they told me everything was fine, it could be a wiring issue with the harness and would need to schedule time ot investigate. i left the shop and drove 1.5hrs home only to have my husband follow me in the car while i had our 3yr old child with me and tell me the brake lights aren't working at all! when is enough to do something about these unsafe vehicles??? we have also just changed brake discs/rotors and pads for the 3rd time at 87,000 miles.

My 2004 freelander hs had engine failure at only 58,000 at dodger stadium in los angeles. i had taken regular care of this car to try to prevent any problems. it was passed the warranty. no warning engine light had gone on. i had it towed to mechanic. engine is totally shot. i cannot afford to pay for new one. i have just recently read several complainst about this type of car , and never knew the same problem exists with these cars until recently. someone needs to investigate. these cars are defective, and have all the similar problems that one way or the other lead to engine failure. my engine apparently went due to my timing belt teeth shearing off, causing timing belt to slip, and camshafts not rotating, and engine being mangled. there was no warning sign of this grand fatality, and had just had coolant problem fixed as well as serviced (oil & filter change) within months of incident. again, no warning engine light at time of shut down.

Land rover free lander 2004, engine dies in cold temperature. it happened to three times in last two winters, when i am traveling on freeway in cold temperature. vehicle's dies without any reason. it would start after an half hour or so, but each time it died, it was very cold and middle of nowhere. if i didn't have my survival kit,and blanket, i would have been died. when i have told this problem to dealers rep they said have got these complaints but couldn't find any problem. in my case i was in north dakota and had no problem of traffic, but if this was in new york or chicago, it could have been fatal. kindly review my complaint. i shall be thankful to you for this act of kindness, which could save many lives. *tr

I noticed that my fan was running louder than normal after i parked my car. i check the engine coolant i was pretty low. i filled the coolant to the max amount. the next day noticed that there was a humming sound when i parked my vehicle for the night. i noticed that the coolant was already gone from replacing it the day prior. i didn't notice any leaks or puddles under the car. when i tried to start the car a day later it sounded like a tractor. once i put in gear it would not accelerate well. it would barely go over 20. the check engine light came on. i decided to park my car and get a rental and have the car towed to the land rover dealer. i dropped the car off and was told later that my car 3 cylinders had failed. that i would need to replace the engine. i don't understand how you can go to running great to not running at all. i kept up with all the required maintenance. now i have a car that doesn't run. i still owe $15,000 and it is going to cost $10,000 to repair. i have no options. noticing the problems by other people, land rover is aware of the defect and should have replace the engines or components that were defective. the is affecting peoples livelihood. we need to get a class action lawsuit started. i am living now out of a rental. this economy right now i can just afford what i have. i don't have the extra money to get another car because the one i'm still paying off is inoperable. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 land rover freelander. the contact noticed fuel leaking from the fuel tank. in the presence of an ignition source, the vehicle could have caught fire. the vehicle was towed to a local repair shop and the mechanic stated that the fuel line disengaged from the fuel pump. the fuel line was reconnected. in addition, the traction control would sporadically engage. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that there was a faulty connection to the throttle body. also, he experiences difficulty when attempting to remove the key from the ignition. the srs warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. a technician stated that the srs module needed to be replaced. lastly, the heater cooler was replaced due to a persistent burning odor emanating from the vehicle. the manufacturer would not assume any responsibility because the vehicle exceeded its warranty. the failure and current mileages were 23,318.

Days after purchasing my 2004 freelander, the check engine soon light came on and the car stalled out on me. the rpm's go all the way up but the accelerator won't allow to drive past 25 mph. this has happened to me continuously since purchasing it. i have had my car serviced by land rover many, many times and they can never figure out what the problem is. they tell me that the cold weather causes it or that i am shifting the gear into 2nd!! this problem has caused me extreme hardship. i have literally driven rental cars for months at a time as they play games with me. this defect caused me to have an accident on highway 405 in ca and it was extremely frightening. i was driving at 60 mph when the car began to buck and stall out. the rpm's were all the way up but i couldn't accelerate past 25 mph. this caused a truck to smash into me as i tried to pull over on the side of the highway. despite my numerous complaint to the manufacturer no one ever resolved this issue. my car's service engine light has been on for a while now and it caused me to fail my inspection, due to emissions. i have spent thousands of dollars on rental cars while land rover took their time to repair my car. each time they have a different story...it's an electric light out, it's the alternator, it's the lifters, it's a broken hose, etc. they have never repaired this stalling issue and now my car is not turning on most of the time. i don't have the money to fix this piece of junk anymore. i am going broke from this car. land rover in newport beach, ca lost my car for a month after i had it towed there from the accident and then refused to help me. they said the tow truck driver never brought it. the time before that they said the tow truck driver lost the keys so they couldn't fix it. i had to have the police department go down there, as i was going to have to file a stolen car report. how ironic is it that the car magically appeared in their lot at that exact time. *tr

I own a used 2004 land rover freelander. while driving back from illinois during a snow storm the lr's window wipers stopped working. the windshield wipers stopped halfway during wiping and i was forced to click them on and off to get them to work. i am also experiencing coolant problems do to the faulty engine design the land rover is well aware of and refuses to fix. this problem will eventually lead to a required engine replacement that land rover is well aware of and refuses to accept responsibility for. the vehicle is maintained regularly as required by the owner's manual so its definitely a engine design problem. consumers cannot be responsible for vehicle problems that result from matters out of their control. there is a reason lemon laws were enacted and a known engine design flaw that results in catastrophic engine failure before 75,000 miles is the manufacturer's responsibility, not that of the unsuspecting consumer. only the full weight of the nhtsa addressing this engine problem with all 2002-2005 freelander models will bring about a satisfactory resolution. please have your officers investigate this matter, this is unacceptable to the american public in these challenging times. *tr

I bought a 2004 land rover freelander hse and a year later the engine seized. i spent well over $5,000 on repairs and about 3 weeks later the engine seized again from different issues. i now still am paying for my loan and driving a $500 hunk of junk. thanks land rover. *tr

2004 freelander se purchased in april of 2007. now, (1) continuous coolant leaking, (2) cylinder sleeve has slipped, (3) loud knocking noise upon starting the engine, (4) coolant leaking into oil and (5) engine overheat light illuminating regularly. consulted local land rover dealer, was told that i would need a total engine replacement. that was my only option. also told to get rid of the vehicle. i still owe approximately $13,000 on this vehicle, so that is not an option. was told that engine replacement would cost $10,000.00. this problem has been raised by thousands of freelander owners and should be looked into from a legal standpoint before someone gets injured or worse due to engine lockup. *tr

Since warranty expiration in aug. '07 my 2004 hse freelander with only 50,000 miles on it has been in the shop since nov. '07 until feb. '08 for a coolant leak that lead to entire engine change. lucky i bought the extended warranty. my window regulators has been replaced numerous times since i have owned the vehicle. now i'm have more problem with it and i'm getting very disgusted with this vehicle. land rover needs to focus more on quality vice quantity of vehicles. i highly recommend a quality assurance division to recommend quality and durable components for their vehicles instead of being cheap and using the name of land rover as a shield for their shady business practices..... i bought this vehicle on the basis of its durability.... i guess land rover does mean nothing..... i should've done better homework. *tr

Just a few days before my scheduled 72000 revision, the temperature gauge was acting up. the local dealer supposedly fixed the problem by replacing the thermostat for $2500. 10 days later same problem, now dealer wants $4200 just to open gaskets and perhaps engine may need to be replaced for $15000. that is more the the value of the car. then i find dozens of people with the exact problem with the exact car on edmunds carspace. *tr

My freelander started losing coolant last weekend. i called land rover service in waukesha wi. they took the vehicle in on monday. they told me the thermostat needed to be replaced (a $56 part) and a few hoses/pipes and gaskets for $900. the next day they called to tell me that the manifest intake also needed to be replaced, another $1215.00. the service manager told me that was the reason my car makes a loud ticking noise. i told the service manager that the vehicle started making that noise the first year i purchased it - new. i told him i had it in 3 times and complained about it while the vehicle was under warranty. i got the same answer every time 'they all sound like that, it is normal.' i had another mechanic look at it, he said it was not normal and told me to take it back in. i did, they told me there was nothing they could do. he told me that they couldn't move any further on my vehicle until i talked to land rover directly. my husband called and opened the case. we are now on day 4 and still don't know if land rover is going to cover anything. they have terrible service. when i purchased the vehicle i was given a promise of superior service and loyalty. now, they won't even give me a loaner. *tr

I have had ongoing problems with the engine's cooling system on my 2004 land rover freelander. when i took it to the dealership, they stated that after performing a lengthy systems check, they could not pinpoint a source of the problem. they told me to continue to monitor the coolant levels, add 50/50 coolant as needed ( which was every 5-10days), and monitor my oil to make sure that the coolant did not mix with the oil and cause problems with the engine. i kept routine maintenance and oil checks (every 3k miles) on the car. my car currently has 81,400 miles. this problem has been ongoing for over a year. my engine has finally blown a rod and bearing and requires engine replacement which could cost from $5-9,000 used and $15,000 new. i believe that land rover is aware of many of the concerns about the dysfunctional cooling system. i believe they could have been more proactive so that such a problem could have been avoided...especially when i have done everything that they have requested of me. i am not in the position to repair the vehicle and may have to take a loss. *tr

2004 land rover freelander. i have had repeated problems with this car (coolant leaks) and have taken the vehicle to my local land rover dealership for service to no avail. i keep being told there is no leak. there is i keep losing coolant. i see on the internet that i am one of thousands of consumers who have been cheated by lr. the freelander is a lemon and their appears to be thousands of us consumers who have had to experience the disappoint and costs incurred due to the faulty manufacturing by land rover. i request that your office investigate this immediately. the freelander should be recalled!! i thank you in advance for investigating this matter. check the internet you will find thousands of unhappy consumers of lr as myself. *tr

I purchased a new 2004 freelander in february 2004. i have serviced my vehicle at the required intervals with land rover. at 48,500 miles, my truck started to overheat. i took it to my local mechanic who looked it over and was puzzled. he couldn't see where the coolant had gone and suggested i bring the car to my local land rover dealer in new rochelle. i had the car towed to land rover and the technicians there fixed the so-called problem. the technicians informed me that a cracked reservoir and a malfunctioning fan were found. 5,000 miles later (now that the warranty had expired) the car begins to overheat. i went ahead and had the thermostat replaced by my local mechanic with a land rover thermostat (where was i to tow my car at 9 pm?) , 2 weeks later it overheated again. i took it the dealership once again. they told me that coolant had leaked into the engine and that i needed a new engine. 6,800 dollars. a 3 year old car needs a new engine? i've been notified by land rover north america that they will not compensate any of the money because the car is out of warranty. this is not the first time this has happened with the freelander. a business associate of mine leased a 2003 freelander from land rover paramus and at 48,000 miles the same exact thing happened. there's an apparent problem with the head gasket with the freelander. it's all over the web ! every freelander suffers from the same problem. i believe i should not be held responsible for a defective engine and that the manufacturer should be totally responsible. i would appreciate any assistance concerning this matter. it's costing me time at work, and plenty in rental car fees. *nm

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - ENGINE
12/21/201045370
I purchased my freelander brand new in july 2004. at approximately 45,000 miles the engine suddenly overheated. i took it the dealership the next day. they said there is a defect in the engine block and that this particular model leaks oil into the head gasket causing the engine to fail. they replaced my entire engine under the manufacturers warranty at no charge. this was july 2007. now i'm at 75,000 miles on the vehicle (only 30,000 miles on this engine) and the dealership's shop says to get ride of it...i will need a new engine because it is leaking oil onto the head gasket. i cannot afford to purchase a new engine for my car and can't in good conscience sell the vehicle to someone else...this puts me in terrible dilema and one which i feel the manufacturer is responsible for. i contacted the manufaturers district office last week and am still waiting for a response. i am also trying to find legal help in this situation. also, there has been ongoing problems with a cackling noise in the right front wheel well. i've addressed it many times with the dealership. they said they fixed it but it still makes noise. they said its a busing part (i believe).

The land rover freelander was continued to be manufactured with a faulty engine block that causes coolant to leak into the engine which results in needing to replace the engine at consumers expense. it is very irresponsible to knowingly produce a vehicle that has such a problem. unfortunately for the land rover freelander owners this engine issue has only been discovered by first hand experience....hence the numerous consumer complaints to which land rover has done nothing about.

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 land rover freelander. while driving 55 mph, the engine failed. the vehicle had to be towed to a dealer and has been there ever since. the contact was informed that the only remedy would be to install a rebuilt engine in the vehicle. he was informed that this was such a common issue that there were no engines available at that time. the contact would have to wait six weeks for the repair. the head gasket failed and caused antifreeze to mix with oil, which destroyed the engine. in addition, the vehicle lost complete power during the failure. the contact stated that the cylinder liners were made of steel and the rest of the engine was aluminum. when the engine heated, the part collapsed into the aluminum parts, which caused the engine to fail and the power to shut off. the failure occurred on one occasion. there were no warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. the driver was unable to restart the vehicle after it stalled. the current and failure mileages were 45,000. updated 7/14/09 *cn updated 07/17/09.*jb

*tr

Engine failure due to the use of varying alloys with different expansion properties used in engine manufacture. the design of engine includes metal sleeves that line the cylinder walls that when heated to normal operating temperature allow the sleeves to slide into the engine resulting in catastrophic engine failure. lrna is been ware of this problem. the defect has been known since 2002 but it could range back to the 1990's and continued to manufacture the faulty engines. this defect is an accident waiting to happen. this failure leads to total power loss that in a snowy or icy conditions or heavy traffic at highway speeds inevitably cause serious accident resulting in an injury or death. *tr

Engine in a 2004 land rover freelander failed due to after 62500 miles due to a head gasket failure. this is the first time the engine failed and has not been replaced as the dealership has quoted 8800 usd for the replacement engine, which i have been told is a rebuilt engine which has already failed. *tr

One year after purchase the coolant began leaking somewhere, eventually it compromised the engine and it was replaced at 76,000 being covered by our extended warranty policy. now, after 20,000 our engine is making a lot of noise and is beginning to leak coolant again!

*tr

I purchased the 2004 land rover, freelander in 2006. it has only 28000 miles on it. about a month after the purchase, i had to take it in to replace the window regulator. a few months later, i heard knocking noises under the hood. i took it back in (lr dealership) and they said there is loose washer somewhere. they were not able to replace the part, thus they only repaired the problem. i could still hear the noise, especially from a coldstart. i also had took it in for them to look at an ac problem. it sprays water out through the air vent. i report the problem at least 4 times. everytime, they said they have fixed the problems. however, as of now, we still have that problem. recently, we have a thermostat leak at 52000 miles. the suv maintenance schedules are up to date. the suv is 5 months and 3000 miles pass the warranty period. i have to pay $800 to repair the leak. two days ago, will on the freeway (going 70mph), the service engine light came on. then the engine stalled for a second and jerk forward violently. the service engine light went off and the tc (traction control) light turns on and the 'down hill' car symbol on the dashboard illuminates. the car was unable to start when i turned it off. i then let it sit overnight and was able to start. after the car has started, i notice the 'service engine soon' light illuminate. the suv has only 53000 miles on it as of now. i feel that this car is poorly designed. not only it put my life in danger, but it also put the lives of my wife and my 1 year old daughter. when we bought the suv, we thought that it a safe suv for our family. however, the incident two days ago almost put our lives in harm ways. *tr

Bought the car new in 2004. in less than 4 years the service engine soon light came on over 8 times resulting in 5 vis motor replacements, 2 oxygen sensor replacements and one replacement of the entire intake manifold. in addition the battery had to be replaced twice because it was swollen and cracked and the rear window regulator was replaced because the rear window fell and would not come back up. luckily it did not break and injure anyone when it fell. coolant level was also always low. system was pressure tested and no leaks were found but i was concerned about a possible defective head gasket. *tr

In mid-october 2004, i bought a new land rover freelander from the jim coleman of frederick, md dealership. the vehicle has had massive electrical issues. since november of '04, the hill descent light (the lr manual suggests this means a major problem), srs (airbag) and the check engine light come on several times. car has left me stranded twice before 2 months old. when we went to get the car for pick up, the car was dead. other recurring problems include: not accelerating properly for highway entry/intersections/left turns. sluggish, hesitant, lunging forward, very slow pick up. a nauseating burning smell continues to come through the vents into the car and surrounds the hood area when vehicle is running or shortly after turn off. brakes are shuddering and brake pedal pushes back on my foot when stopping fast. i parked and turned off vehicle. came back to vehicle an hour later with the ac fans blowing on high. car was off. no key in ignition. mechanic and i witnessed the rear gate window drop without the car being on and the key out of the ignition. this happens regularly. air conditioner spits through vents. water pouring out vents when going around curves. significant amount of ac-related water on floor. a/c broke completely. no cold air, only fans. a/c light would not come on. air would come out, only hot air. fans stopped working. front and rear windows completely fogged up on trip to mississippi. had to use towels to wipe windows down. drastically cut visibility as windows fogged up. forced to leave windows down in thunder storms. drivers side wind shield wiper is dragging at the bottom creating a smeared effect. *nm

June 31 driving 30 miles, the vehicle made sounds as though gears were shifting, & check engine lights, tc light, & track control lights came on, & vehicle lost major power, resulting to a drag in transmission allowing to drive about 2-5 miles. jul 1 vehicle taken to carmax service (cm), of which both lights had gone off. i was advised that the vehicle was still under manufacturer?s warranty, & cm would have it towed asap. july 5 cm sr advised me that they determined no problems, & the issue i experienced was most likely caused by a loose gas cap. july 19 upon my travel, i experienced no engine trouble, but my back passenger window wouldn't roll up. july 23 vehicle taken to cm; they sent the vehicle to lr to have the back window motor replaced. i didn't bother with advising of the every so often engine problems, because i assumed it was the gas cap. july 25 i refused to take possession due to a very loud clicking sound coming from the engine. it was sent back to lr. on july 26, cm sr advise me that lr says the clicking sound is one of the characteristics in a lr; however the clicking is a little louder than usual, & they would order a few parts to quiet the clicking sound down. early aug while driving down peachtree st in atlanta, ga with ample traffic, in rain, thunder, & lightening, 40 miles, vehicle engine gave out again, with all lights coming on, & no power. october 20 driving i75-s, it happened again. it lost power while driving 60+ miles, as the lane curved. turning into a service station, it lost power again. oct 22 vehicle is currently at the lr, while incurring a rental car cost, i am uncertain as to what the temporary fix will be. i want out! i will be contacting cm to inquire about a buy back, of which the lr service advisor informed me of. *jb

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - EXHAUST SYSTEM - EMISSION CONTROL
12/09/2007600001
My land rover freelander 2004 failed inspection due to emissions. the repair shop indicated today that the electric motor is defective and that's why my car keeps shaking and failed. also, he indicated that there may be an issue with the fuel pump, since one part of the motor is faulty and emitting too much gas. land rover has replaced the electric motor valve three times but never replaced the actual motor. now i am going to have to pay 2,000 to replace this part. land rover found the easy solution temporarily by replacing the motor valve three times but never fixed the actual problem. i have already spent thousands of dollars for repair of this piece of junk and for rental cars and now i am stuck with another financial loss. something needs to be done about this and land rover needs to be held responsible for their deceptive business practices. *tr
