In winter of 2008 i was exiting a driveway at the end of which there is a stop light on a night when snow had just begun. i was traveling at a slow speed because the light was red my car brakes locked up and i slid into a stone pillar at the exit. although i had sufficient time, i had no way to effectively steer the car because the wheels were locked up. there was significant damage to the car. while my overriding concern is that this could happen again, i was also unhappy about the very significant damage to my car. the dealer and the lexus corporation told me there were no recalls on the antilock brakes, but i asked them to report the incident in case others experienced (or would in future experince) the same problem. i don't know if they did. in reading about the way toyota handled current recalls, it raised doubts for me about whether they filed a report of this incident. *cn
